Yep, was sold by the scupt the moment i saw the fighter mode pic. Now, just hopeing the colors can make the cut and not make some cheapo semi-translucent red-tinted plastic.

Personally I can accept the head not splitting from the radar array, as somehow I thought it makes more sense for it not to split actually. Furthermore, the storm attacher mode is the mode I would personally display it, so not much of a biggie.

From what I read, some people actually think that the TV SDF-1 toy will look anything like the lineart in terms of proportion. I feel compelled to speak about this: I hate to say this, but the fact is that the PROPORTIONS wil be very much similar to the DYRL line art, which is closer to what the actual thing will look like (see 1/2000 or 1/3000 SDF-1) The TV lineart's bow is way too wide, basically as if it is from a forced perspective that makes the bow look almost as wide as the stern, when in fact the bow is only as wide as what is presented in the DYRL lineart, and for even more accurate indication, the 1/2000 or 1/3000 DYRL SDF-1 However, having said that, the fact is that slapping the Prometheus and Daedalus in place of the Armds ain't gonna cut it. I can accept the torso bit, but the shoulders, specifically how the cannons are attached (Swivel internal versus swivel external of shoulder) need to be addressed, alongside the main gun (the TV version has an arc indent on each side of the main gun). Only with these few changes (shoulders, maingun and of course with the P and D) I can accept a "repaint"

I concur. VF-27 is definitely superior is almost everyway

Preorder is up @ amiami for 1/60 DX VF-25G Tornado http://www.amiami.jp/shop/shop?vgForm=ProductInfo&sku=TOY-RBT-1324&template=e_review.html&set=english

IIRC, only the 2006 version comes with the FPs. The newest versions' FP come seperately, and includes parts for both the 19 and 21.

Now I'm trying to max out all the stats of the Characters and Mecha. The Last Supper skill or Song of Destruction skills really bring on the hurt and really shortens the time needed to complete missions.

They read with interest that you have "sets" instead of just a "set"
-
remember that the hi-metal VF-1s are slightly off-scale.... they are actually bigger than what a 1/100 should be.

Well, the aquarium can still capitalise on him one last time to boost its visitor numbers, even in death

Animation wise, I am quite impressed by the new backgrounds as well as the additions to the existing stock footage, especially during the opening. I can imagine, watching it in the cinema and being wow-ed by the scenes of the ships of the Macross Frontier Fleet going past as the camera closes in on the Frontier Fleet's battle Frontier and Island 1. However, as far as character animation goes, I am a little disappointed. Maybe it was to ensure consistency with the TV serie's character animation quality since the quite abit of stock footage was used from there as well. Of course, that means that the character models maintained the series' quality, which while pretty ok for a TV series, makes this movie look as if it is released direct-to-DVD type of movie. Of course, the good news is that it maintains its consistency mainly throughout the movie, unlike the series, especially episode 8, where the animation quality takes a serious nosedive. Thus, putting storytelling and pacing aside (which I shall not comment on, not at this time anyway), I feel that although I have enjoyed this movie, this movie will not be the classic that DYRL will be for Macross or what Transformers the Movie (1986) is for Transformers G1 series. Of course, maybe the 2nd moview will improve on this aspect, but it is to become anything near a classic, it will have to depend on solid storytelling to cover what the character animation can't achieve for this movie. Just my 2 cents.

Or a very simple method. 2B pencil. Looks pretty good without overdoing it, and best of all, completely reversible.

Might not. 2012 will be the 30th Anniversary of Macross. After that.....

Yamato will probably make a better toy (like the VF-27), if they have the chance any given time. Popularity wise, it is a a different matter altogether. Assuming that Yamato instead of bandai was then one who had the rights to make the VF-25s, and had substituted Bandai in releaseing the VF-25s in exactly the same dates that Bandai had released them, etc (I.e all things being equal other than the manufacturer and Yamato's commitment to anime accurateness), I think they would just as popular, if not more so. However, assuming that yamato secures the rights say, 4 years later, it proobably not. They would have lost the 1st mover advantage and without any supporting media (Toy Advertisements disguised as TV series or movies), it is kind of hard to sustain interest, and even harder to generate new interest.

I was pretty much amused by Bandai's not-so-subtle plug for their SOC line. Basically, most of the Mac-F toys there already have been realeased, save for the Cheyenne 2. Release it Bandai!

Beautiful. It actually looks pretty damn good too without its chest armor

I guess the country of origin of the the meta-series gives a clue about this phenomenon. From what I see/ intepret, japan is still pretty much a chauvanistic society, and some professions/ jobs are just not traditionally done by females or under-represented. Even out of Japan, I guess alot of countries still have varying degress of chauvinism and traditional gender roles to play.

The Anniversary edition should be pretty OK. Link is just for the boxart: http://www.hlj.com/product/YMT00180

Thats what I want to know too! But with the suffix: "at a good price"

A hard question to answer.... but I would say my Yamato v2 GBP-1S with VF-1J. It just looks ready to kick serious ass.

Anything with the word "exclusive" in its description.

Definitely interested in 1/48 & 1/60 scale

Basically to quote Graham: 1 breakage report of the 1D does not an epidemic make.

Of the lot, the VF-1S V2 Roy initial releases (Strike and plain jane versions) have to be the most affected ones. It is only around the 1D release (9 months after initial release) that things got better, as far as the shoulder hinges are concerned.
