Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
BlueMax replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
If that means Bandai will let go of their exclusive hold on the VF-25 sooner (in one way or another), then I'm all for it. -
I quite agree with you. Yamato has completed my dream of collecting the whole line of VF-1 valks. Now we even have the VF-X and Virgin Road! I believe that Yamato know that they may not make good money in making certain models, but they for some reason ....they manage to complete the project (except the obscure Dark Bird and HQ Guard maybe). Yamato, you still owe me the Phalanx and Spartan. What they said.

Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
BlueMax replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
If any of the main characters piloted it more... especially Alto or Ozma, then it will sell. Sales of valks are tied to the popularity of the pilot and also, how much the valk is identified with the pilot. hah... same thing for just about every other mecha anime. -
Actually, Graham will release the review on the 28th, presumably morning, HONG KONG Time. That means, folks in US can get to read it by the evening of the 27th. So, slightly lesser wait for you guys

Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
BlueMax replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
If it has to be released by the DX team, then it better be done by the folks that gave us the VF-27 rather than the 25. -
Hm..... the background colors of the front (and back too! )of the box makes it looks as though the valk is posed before a French flag... Not that there is anything wrong of course, just an observation. Hm.... somehow I can imagine a picture of the mustachioed AB in a Basque-style beret playing an accordion...

I think thats pretty much it as well.... not much left to be done, maybe just a couple more obscure schemes, like the all black scheme we saw in the series as well as the Alaskan guard scheme. Either way, all mass release 1/60 VF-1s are pretty much done... and if ever these 2 are released, its gonna probably some exclusive stuff. At least we can look forward to year 2011 as the year of the VF-19s!

I don't think they are meant to be mounted on both the yammie stands as well as the mighty blocks. Flexidisplays are your best bet

Fantastic! When Graham speaks (in Macrossworld at least), everyone listens! Definitely looking forward to the review! The last review Graham done on MW has to be the 1/60 Yamato Version 2 Strike (Roy back in mid 2008.)

I can't teach you how to deal with this, but I can only offer some possible suggestions to why he is behaving the way he is. I guess your father must be about close to 70 years old or so? I guess you have to accept the fact that he came from a different socio-economic background with a different set of upbringing and worldview, and also we must also understand that people of that era are not trained to look at perspectives other than their own, and they have no/little chance to have been exposed to different perspectives as we have Thus some things you do just seem absurd to him no matter how hard you try to convince him. its pretty much like some of the things/attitudes the teenagers/kids do/have nowadays that seem perfectly normal to them but yet we look sort of disapprovingly at them... eg, the amount of time kids spend on Facebook and uploading photos and other intimate details indiscriminately I suspect he is outraged by what he deems as frivolous spending, spending money on "kids' playthings"/ extravagant stuff that doesn't serve any purpose, in contrast to his time where he might have had to scrimp and save and take on jobs even as a teenager, and things he bought were for the sake of family rather than for individual amusement. He might be unimpressed with the re-sale value of the toys, because he might be of the opinion that only "crazy" people would be interested in these things, and none of the people around him are that "crazy", and therefore, isn't convinced. The things he mentioned are the "mainstream" collectors items of his time and thus what he considers "normal", and basically what he knows. What he doesn't realize is times have changed, and he cannot apply his previous experiences to what is happening in the world right now. Maybe you should just hide your collection the next time he visits.

There is no guarantee a certain item will go on sale. For example, the Max and Millia 1/60 V2s. Not only did they not go on sale, they pretty much sold out soon after release and it is hard to get them at a good price. You can think of it this way: By buying early, you eliminate risk (of it being sold out), because you pay not to run any risk. By waiting, you might get it at a lower price but you risk the ability to owwn it (like the Max and Millia) at all later on. As they say, he higher the risk, the higher the potential for return so if something is that important to you, you decide whether you want to run the risk. On a more macro scale, if everybody thought like that: ie, hold out for lower prices, this will affect retailers' confidence in (in this case) Yamato products. Orders will drop and eventually yamato will deem it not worthwhile to continue making any more Macross products, and we will be the biggest losers for not having qualty intricately designed macross products. Basically theis is what essentially "deflation" is , and it is extremely damaging to producers. So regarding the 1/3000 Yamato Macross, you have to decide if the risk is worth it to not get it sooner. I have decided it is not worth the risk, and I have pre-ordered. What about you?

Nice! That means Graham has all the time to write the review til the end of the 27th before publishing it... Counting on you Sir!

Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
BlueMax replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
This must have been one of the draft/working sketches the Hory Froating Head gave Bandai after they pushed him for a new VF design... looks exactly like those concept art in those Design Work kinda books -
While I suppose it generally can be better, but I think the main problem was people's expectation for it, and the fact that had to suffer the fate of seemingly better Yamato VFs being released after it. I though it was still pretty ok, especially in fighter mode as long as it isn't viewed from the side.
-
That normally happens... so prepare your wallet for some serious drainage of $$..... and welcome to the club of yamato 1/60 V2 VF-1 owners
-
Well, as with my sig, yes, I have all the variants, less the Tornado pack. So yes, while they sold very well, it doesn't automatically mean that all people who bought them really like them (as in the DX toy, not the design of the 25). I don't deem them worthy enough to be displayed in fighter mode alongside my Yammies. I'm an example of one who bought them only because Bandai is the only kid on the block as far as 1/60 scale VF-25s are concerned. The exception to the DX toys is the VF-27. I deem it worthy enough to be displayed alongside my Yamato valks, even though I know some here might not think the same way.

This has to be the 1/48 version. Just look at the neckline of the battroid mode. Of course, fantastic work as always Kurt... and yes, need some reprolabels!

*takes a look at his interests.....* D'oh!! Pwned.... lol~!

These 2 aspects, especially the part on transforming aircraft, form the core of Macross and the basis for the existence of this very forum. So....if this was the worst moment and you are not into the transforming aircraft concept.... can I ask why you are here at this very forum and regularly posting?

Basically if the exclusives are Macross Chronicle exclusives, like the 1/48 Max and Kakizaki TV 1As, HLJ is not likely to get them. As far as I know bothe the VF-X and AB are both Chronicle exclusives. Seems to me whatever tie-up HLJ and Yamato has so far are only for the Yamato web exclusives, like some of the weathered versions, the VF-1S unassembled valk, the 1/60 regult and 1/2000 SDF-1
-
If you are buying stuff from HLJ's various sales and wanna maximise your shipment, the 6" ones are still available from HLJ. If not, then its the webby above for the full range http://www.hlj.com/product/LFTFD006V2

Right at the end of Macross Frontier, both Series and movie alike, the characters act as if everything oh-so-happy-in-my-own-world and oblivious to everything else. Even the hundreds and thousands of people who have perished in the Vajra attacks just mere hours, or even minutes before. Just isn't right.

That is why way with this kind of sales: You snooze, you loose. The sale runs til the 24th. After that ALL items go back to their normal prices. In the meantime, whatever stocks they have depleted, they will pull it out from the sale. That was what happened last year, or any other sale without those specific counters that says "XX (number) left" So for those who still want the TV Roy and are still on the fence, I think you might want to order ASAP. I think it will go the same way with the Ghost Booster. In fact I am surprised it hasn't been pulled from the sale yet.

Buy it when the stores have a good discount or somebody is letting it go at a good price
