General 1/18 Scale Figure and Toy Thread
mechaninac replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I haven't been into anything of this sort, other than the rare automotive diecast, in years but this has my undivided interest, so much so that I can taste it. 🤤 The one thing that gives me pause is the sticker price on that glorious Viper... -
Octos and Cheyenne would be very nice too... Major pipedream; we all know those will NEVER happen; heck, we're still waiting for the Tomahawk and Phalanx from OG Macross to see the light of day.

I'd call it a cash grab if, given the gag in the original, that wasn't the entire self-aware point... -
Captain America: Brave New World - February 14, 2025
mechaninac replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Since there are no examples of their not having F'd up or severely diminished IPs/studios they've acquired, some immediately, others after a few outings, and even their own legacy stuff (Snow White being their latest abomination) gets plundered, I'd posit that it's much closer to always than usually. Disney is a content singularity. It consumes everything it can in order to grow and, in the process, shreds everything it eats into unrecognizable particles.- 113 replies

Came in looking for updates -- I'd settle for rumors and minor crumbs -- on the VF-5000 Star Mirage and I'm leaving disappointed...

Not only more -- number of dedicated fans vs "professionals" working for the Mouse makes it a given -- but superior in almost every single way except polish.

Basil tirando uma página diretamente do roteiro chinês... por que desenvolver um projeto original quando os Estados Unidos já fez o trabalho difícil? E o nome do caça me faz pensar no grito do capitão Kirk em A Ira de Khan. -

If that were the case, the waxy pigment would've been crooked and smeared, like Jack Burton after trading spit with Gracie Law (Big Trouble in Little China). That figure looks a lot more like it was self-applied in front of a makeup mirror...- 765 replies

I don't doubt. If they aren't cutting steel for the molds necessary for the Blazer specific parts, I'm sure they already have all the necessary 3D data done, validated and ready to go to the toolmaker.

This actually makes perfect sense. Other than the head and the addition of the speaker fins on the shoulder pauldrons, the unit is identical to the Fire Valk. I may get this but I'm really interested in the Emerald Force's S and F Blazer variants.

Indeed. Disney is, by no means, the only guilty party in the wholesale destruction of legacy IPs; however, they are, by far, the worst offenders.
