Isn't that what buying all these toys are, in the first place? I mean, it does take the other half out of the moment at least.

May'n in California
Jasonc replied to Mercurial Morpheus's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
From the titles I could read, yes, that sounds about right. I recognized just about every song on that list. -
Used the sale to get a Master Grade 1/60 Gundam Mk II. Yeah, not Macross, but I shold be getting some Macross art with it. We'll see. I've been wanting one of these for awhile. It's also in scale with the Yamatos, so it should be a good comparison.

It's t.v. variant, all the way. The pilot is also a t.v pilot.

I was just gonna say the same thing. When wearing the armor pack, or super packs, they did have ordinance under the wings, right? Either way, if the S and F models get something for under the wings, I'd rather have them sell the wings themselves so I can replace the old ones.

May'n in California

That's how I felt at Anime Expo two years ago when I got to shake hands and greet May'n and Megumi Nakajima. Got the Ranka diary book signed, a concert ticket, and both signatures on the double CD. -
MacrossWorld Convention 2012 Information Thread
Jasonc replied to KiriK's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
My wife and I worked on the advertising the year before last, and it looks like we're going to put another flier together. They'll probably go out sometime soon, so if anyone wants to pass them out when they come out, like at conventions, or their local anime shops or anything like that, let me know. -
Well, shouldn't matter too much to me, anyways. I don't intend t keep mine, unless I can get one at the ami ami discount down the line (which is pretty much slim to none). I'm more concerned, and hope that the hands are able to retract inside the forearms in the CF version. Don't care about the covers, as long as it does like the Yamato 17, I'm cool with that.

If you ever want it, I wrote out the tabs for Holy Lonely Night. Going to get my band mates to learn that song, along with Light the Light.
-
If that's the case, that's kinda odd, being that these are the same guys who did Yamato's, am I right in saying that? If so, it's lame, if not, still lame that this supposed cutting edge toy manufacturer can't make that work.

Macross Frontier Complete Soundtrack Release?
Jasonc replied to JetJockey's topic in Movies and TV Series
The CD that Benson is referring to, not exactly sure which one that is, but there was a 2 CD set that basically covered just about everything on the series. The movies should have their own CDs. I don't think they'd actually do a 100% complete compilation, as I assume they make more money selling the complilations separate, than one huge bundle. Maybe down the line we'll see it, like the Macross 4 CD compilation that Victor put out years ago, but I'm not gonna hold my breath for it. There are also special CDs with the voice actors singing, a Christmas CD? and maybe a couple others. Frontier had a ton of music.- 13 replies

OK, I do know the chords for most of the song (at the top of my head) are: Intro: A D (repeated several times, then end on) A Verse: l: D E C#m D D E A :l Bridge Fm F# Fm F# (then does a walk down in chords, don't have a guitar to remember it now) Chorus: A D Bm E repeated, then back to intro: The outro bridge I think is F#m D, but I'm not exactly sure. It's some sort of progression like that, or D then F#m. I'm sure with the meat of it there, you can get the rest of it. You can simply strum it out, or do an arpeggio to give it some flavor, adding in suspended chords. I like to use some harmonics during the verses, at the ending A chords after using a quick sus, like A Asus A then 7th fret harmonic of the 3 high strings, but you can use your own influences in it. Also, the the 1st D after the C#m might be a F# bass D chord. Try it and see if that works better. Let me know if that helps at all.

I like the one guy complaining that the 5040 yen was too expensive for the armored parts and missiles. I almost wanna ask if this is his first time around the block?

May'n in California
Jasonc replied to Mercurial Morpheus's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
From what one MW member told me, and a friend in Japan told me, we are very fortunate to see her in these settings. In Japan, she performs in large arenas and large concert halls, and as I observed that is different, her Japanese shows aren't as "off the cuff" and "raw" as they were here. That said, I absolutely loved it like that. To see May'n perform with that type of energy, and with that sense of rock vocal and tone was a real treat. It's something I will truly cherish. I truly hope her promoters, or May'n herself, gets a chance to read these posts, cause I would say a huge thank you to her. Two of my friends who went, who hadn't heard her sing more than a couple songs from Frontier are now fans of her music, and I truly hope she comes back soon. A big props to her band as well. They put on an awesome show, and played their hearts out. I've been fortunate to play that same stage at the Key Club before, and it's a very up close stage. I feel just a bit more special, having played in a place where May'n performed. -
Sweet posters. I have two of them, and never get bored of looking at them.

was there any line art of the landing gear? The gears seem a little low, which may just be me, but it looks like a ground scraper.

Well, if they only get a small amount in, at least you'll be one of the first who paid. You're almost guaranteed one.

Do you have the link for it? I might be able to figure it out, as I pretty much have the song down already.

May'n in California
Jasonc replied to Mercurial Morpheus's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
Wow, never left the U.S., and I've seen May'n perform twice! This was an epic show. Less "choreographed" and refined, this show was really meant to rock, and be up and close with the fans. All that "rawness" of the show, I totally loved it. You guys in the Bay area should have fun. I really hope she comes back again for more shows. -

Macross 7 Bluray Boxset Details Announced
Jasonc replied to SCOOPUDA!'s topic in Movies and TV Series
I disagree there. There are other factors at work. -
Overall, I think the Bandai figures are a bit under scaled. As for the Valkyries themselves, I'm not a scale nazi, so I think they're close enough to be considered the same.

I remember an interview in which Kawamori said (and I'm summing this up) that watching these shows is like us watching movies about WWII, or something like that. It's a strange way to look at your creations, but I guess the idea of one super strict canon that everyone has to adhere to isn't as important as fans make it. Seriously, have you seen how butt tight many of the Robotech fans get over keeping everything canon, and strict by the book? I guess at some point, it was decided that to adhere to a strict canon will almost always come back to bite you. Star Trek fans are notorious for this, Robotech fans get nutty over this too. Being used to strict canon myself, it's a bit to get used to, but in essence, they're giving more power to the fans that way. In that sense, it's pretty cool.
