Surprised there aren't any Macross figmas, considering there are figmas of just about everything else. I have a Robocop figma, for god's sake.

  3. Finally a YF-29 that doesn't have a terrible color scheme.
  4. is the 25F going to be released earlier in the month, like the RVF was and VF-27 will be?
  5. Whether or not you liked the Macross Quarter design, it was a really crappy toy. It's the only Macross purchase I regret making. Well, that and those VHS copies of Macross II back in the 90s. Even my cat expressed his disapproval by biting off one of the tower antennae.
  6. There was no discount with the HLJ preorder?
  7. PW is the best thing to happen to HLJ. Prior to that, they had a ridiculously slow, a**-backwards, totally inflexible way of shipping things to you. They're still pretty slow at actually getting things out the door, but it's nice to be able to lump a couple months of purchases into one box and use Fedex. My last two shipments were fairly large boxes with multiple items, and shipping was only about 4400 yen for Fedex, which is cheaper than if I had bought all these items at different shops and paid for SAL for each one (not to mention much faster delivery). Being luxury items, I don't mind sticking my stuff in PW for a month or two before ordering a shipment. Just wish they got their stuff listed a little faster. Most of the time it's not an issue, but when it's a hot item, it gets to be somewhat troublesome waiting for them to update when every other shop has it up.
  8. Absolutely stunning work as always, MJ! I'll finally have some time this summer to work on mine a bit, and I'm referencing yours as a starting point.
  9. Unless Bandai severely reduced the production numbers for the 25A, I'm fairly certain there will be plenty to go around come release time.
  10. I was, but since I'm up studying for an exam, decided to open up my browsers and see what shook loose. Just one of those times where if I got one, great, if not, no big deal. Glad to see you scored one too!
  11. Wow even the cannon fodder version sells out almost instantly. Decided to turn on my page scanner and got one at Hobby Search, after skipping NY and CDJ. Never paid full MSRP for a Bandai valk and don't plan to start.
  12. Good luck to you kids on the preoders. I've had enough of the VF-25 and Bandai's preorder shenanigans, so there'll be one less person to compete with. I might pick one up if I happen to stumble across an open preorder below MSRP, but no more staying up all night for Bandai toys.
  13. Got mine a few days ago. Usual QC for Bandai's stuff. It'd really be nice if Bandai could make wings that weren't warped. Still, it's nice to finally have the entire SMS Skull Squadron... only 5 freaking years after Frontier's original run.
  14. I have two TV Max VF-1As. One has the old crotch and tinted canopy, and the other has the newer crotch and no tint. But if you're buying it new then it should be the non-tinted, wider crotch version.
  15. WOW! The 171 must be rarer than I thought! http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/item_s-1239273.html

  17. Saying that people don't like the 171 transformation because they don't know how to handle it because it's too "complex" is an ignorant and arrogant statement to make. I know exactly how to transform my 171, thanks. Doesn't mean I like it.
  18. Sorry to see them go. They were always a reliable shop for me. The last several years with the high yen have not been kind to Japanese businesses.
  19. Finally got around to actually transforming it today and now I remember why I keep my 171 eternally in fighter mode. Had to transform it at least once to make sure no parts are missing. Arms were actually fine this time, but the hips were still ridiculously tight and damn near impossible to move. Noticed the area around the yellow visor in the head was incorrectly masked and painted. Probably won't bother fixing it since it's going back to fighter mode forever.

I'd buy such an Exedore figure just for the camp value.
  21. Am I the only one who picked up the Enterprise-D from Aoshima? Anyway, enough derailing. I'm one of those people who prefers to have just one valk per display space, rather than trying to cram as many as I can into as small a space as possible. However, buying 1 detolf for every 4 valks is a bit excessive... luckily, a few weeks back I stumbled onto these display shelves/cubes/whatever and decided to pick one up. They work great! Every valk except the SV-51 and the VF-19 with Sound Boosters fits nicely into each cubby hole. The shelves are stackable too, so you could potentially build a wall of valks. Only drawback is that I have to dust them off now and then. I could fit some glass doors on the front, but another day perhaps...
  22. Hey, whatever works, right? The results speak for themselves. Simple, but effective. And that's still less ghetto than my setup, which doesn't even involve a tripod and uses tracing paper for light diffusion.
  23. I just used a Q-tip for the weathering. It sounds like yours might have dried out, like MJ said. The soot is a little bit hard, but nothing that I can't work with. The snow is still powdery on mine. I've had my kits for about 2 years now. I put it straight onto the bare plastic, since Yamato valks have a matt finish, so it stays on pretty well. I know I'll have to apply some kind of flat coat before weathering any Bandai valks. Oh, and that 171 looks fantastic! Excellent work, as always, MJ.
