Never thought I'd get one of these, but glad I finally got one! Box got a little bit dinged up (thanks USPS!) but still brand new and... sealed? I have never bought a Yamato valkyrie that was sealed with tape. -
One is a painted model kit that you simply have to stick together out of the box, the other is a toy of questionable build quality. I don't think you're gonna find someone who will paint and detail a model kit for you for $30, so I see it as a decent value. I picked up just the fighter mode kits along with the LED lighting units for the engines. Should make for a nice display piece.

That or anything interesting happening would be nice. So far the only interesting event was in episode 10, and we're almost halfway through the series. Watching Delta is like watching the Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie show. It'll be piloted in the second half of the series by Messer's identical twin brother.

I don't think following forum posts here is the most reliable method of determining what to release, since by that metric Max and Miria are the most popular schemes in the history of mecha and Arcadia is stupid not to reissue them and Bandai clearly should have released them first. Nor do I care what this vague "everyone" wants or says they want. I know what I want, and it's not yet another repaint of an inferior VF-1 toy, which I already have plenty of. I can't fault Bandai for releasing what sells, however. But then by that same token, we can't bitch about Arcadia's releases and reissues either, since they're just going by what they think will sell. And if we can't bitch about toy releases, then we've taken away most of the reasons why this place exists.

The next three releases after the Monster are more damn VF-1s. You can do better than that, Bandai.

The colors are wrong, but I'll take it for $100. Beats paying $500+ for the Yamato versions. Don't like the Max & Miria colors enough to shell out that kind of cash or bother fixing it myself.

How many people here actually owned a laserdisc player? I never did. My childhood was the VHS era.

Wasn't Kamjin wearing a wife beater in a later episode? Just paint his skin purple and hair blue and it'll be close enough.

Aside from the VF-19, Yamato/Arcadia has never released a glossy valk. And wasn't the 19 only made glossy at Kawamori's suggestion?

The yellow trim VF-4 will be piloted by Roy's son, because of course a man like Roy left behind a string of illegitimate kids. The blue trim wouldn't be Max either, since we know he stayed on Earth till the launch of Macross 7.

That makes 3 for me. Glad I picked up one of each color skull stickers for the stabilizers. Now I can have an entire VF-4 Skull squadron.

It's just the way the light is reflecting off the rainbow tint. Though now that I look at it side by side next to Roy's 1S, it does seem like the tinting is denser on this one. -

My HMR VF-1J arrived early! Just kidding of course. Finally got around to detailing my Hikaru 1J , which I've had since 2008. After sitting on my workbench in pieces for the last few months, I finally pushed myself to finish it and make room for this month's VF-31 kit. It's more or less the same kind of detailing I did on my Roy 1S, but I wanted a cleaner look for Hikaru, so I used a lighter touch on the shading. Hikaru's valkyrie wouldn't have seen as much action as Roy's, and he goes through several of them anyway. Decals are a combination of Hasegawa, third party, and decals I printed myself. Used a semi-gloss finish for Hikaru instead of the flat finish I used on Roy. Flat looks more "realistic" but I prefer a slightly glossier look for anime mecha. Also, flat finishes scratch up much more easily. Sorry, I only have a phone camera for taking pics. Anyway, hope you guys like it!
