Sold out at HLJ now. Reduced my orders to only 4 Regults so I have some room for the inevitable scout and missile variants from Tamashii web. Just speculating but I really hope Bandai releases those.
  2. Hehe well you did teach me a lot of what I know now. Haven't used pencil shading in a long time, but I do love the clean precision it affords. Maybe I'll go back to it for the Arcadia VF-4G as I don't feel it should be as worn looking as any of Focker's rides. Get some yellow arrow decals, commander type head, and make a more accurate 2012 version...

That looks like one super uncomfortable cockpit. Bandai is saving that for the HMR Macross Plus line.
  4. It looks a little better with stickers and panel lining added.
  5. A Saburo photo shoot sounds amazing! Ohhh that's a thought. I think there are much more talented folks right here on this forum that can do way better, if you're looking for a commissioned piece. Grey is the base plastic color. Just painted over the stabilizers and rudders and nose. Too many painted surfaces on a transforming toy make me nervous during transformation (re: VF-0A.) The shading should be called postshading, I think. It was just added right over the plastic.
  6. Hehe no no I'm not really going to throw out. Throwing a valk in the trash is criminal! Unless it's a Bandai V1 VF-25 of course. There's enough little niggling imperfections that have bothered me over the years and Arcadia's reissue will finally let me fix them. This one will be relegated to battroid mode. The skulls and other markings are decals from a VF-1S kit. The rest is painted. I might consider it if I pick up a third VF-4...
  7. If you're going to mount only one pair of valks together, it should definitely be the 19 and 21! Two beautiful and wildly different designs representing the most intense pilot rivalry in the franchise. Do it!
  8. My old Yamato VF-4 I detailed way back in the day. I plan on revisiting this once I get my Arcadia reissue and doing a better job. Maybe I'll toss this one in the garbage bin.

I'll clean them out when I swing by later this month.
  10. I feel this toy is a metaphor for the show that birthed it: lots of potential flushed away by cheapness and/or incompetence. The only thing I like about Macross II is the theme song. Kaneko Mika was (and still is) a cutie! Oh, and it's mercifully short.

That's such a ripoff. I'm willing to sell my extra for the low price of $100 and 24,300 cents!

It would have been midnight if we hadn't turned our clocks back an hour!

Hobby Search lets you cancel within 7 days of putting in your preorder. Got one at HLJ too but considering keeping my HS order. I recall seeing 2 Monsters flanking the bridge.

Got one from HS. Just in case I miss the unpredictable HLJ window.

Let the preorder madness begin! I think I'll wait for HLJ for this one. Something this large and heavy I'd rather combine shipping with HLJ's private warehouse than ship separately with Amiami's much higher rates.
  16. Probably Flightpose, until CY makes an adapter for the Yeti stand (if ever).

I wouldn't sweat the scales from a 1982 TV show where a Zentradi the size of a VF-1 battroid can fit comfortably inside a Regult. The scales shown constantly changed. I wouldn't use a single screencap as some kind definitive proof of scale. As long as it more or less "looks right." Because it's easy to pull a screencap to prove the opposite side. Hell, even in the age of CGI models, we get things like Klan being the size of a VF-25 battroid, and that's way bigger than a VF-1.

    Ohhh opening cockpit! That's nice!
  19. Released in 2016 and costs as much as as its contemporaries? Sorry, I'm comparing it to what's available now, not 15 or 20 years ago. When ET lowers the price to under 10k yen and invents a time machine and releases it in 2001, then we can compare it to Yamato and Bandai's earlier stuff. Really, "it's better than something released 15 years ago" is not exactly high praise.
  20. I was always under the impression that Paypal charged you a slightly crappier exchange rate and pocketed the difference. I have my account set up to charge to my credit card, which charges in yen and uses whatever the market rate is. In addition to the better rate, all those valkyrie purchases rack up a lot of points!

That's not what I said. Please read more carefully. I said that as an accessory that you have to pay extra for, it sucks. I wouldn't have minded as much if it was something that came with the figure in the box, like the DX stands. Yes I have the Act 5 stand for mecha. I use it for battroid. As stated, it doesn't secure well and wobbles and is easily knocked off.

Bandai would never release a toy that needed a stand to stay upright! Speaking of which, I recently tried attaching my HMR 1S to one of the Tamashii act stands I got. Wow they really are pieces of sh**. Really unacceptable being a sold-separately accessory rather than an included item.
