  1. Crumbly V1 VF-25's, I got the G with Supers and S with armor parts. I don't own any renewals because the preorder madness is impossible for me, and the secondary market would gouge me. It almost made me swear off Bandai entirely, but the improvements with the 29 brought me back.
  2. I mentioned this earlier, but foam rubber cabinet bumpers (little hexagon-shaped self adhesive pads) work great in place of the clear silicone rubber caps. They are also quite cheap, and available at any big home improvement store. The only down side is that I can only find them in a brownish color, but they are so small they don't really show - just barely larger than the face of the post.
  3. I need a pre-order buddy, there is no way on earth I am ever able to secure these kind of things on my own.
  4. Pricing seems about on par with Bandai DX Valkyries, I'll need to see more before committing but definitely interested. The story for the franchise seems to have some potential as well, and the name is straight up 80's retro.
  5. I took the road less traveled, MAXL for my #1 and Metal Siren for #2. With the first we could get the Sound Booster as well!
  6. Something that really struck me about this trailer is that it got rid of the "unnatural depth of field" effect that was so jarring about the prequel cinematography, and looks much more believable. The human eye does not see everything in focus at near and far distances simultaneously, and that really hurt my suspension of disbelief with the CG background effects in Eps I-III. This teaser honestly has me excited for the new direction of the franchise.
  7. 7 still ranks as my favorite series after all these years. To me it had the best of 2/3 of the pillars of Macross: music and relationships. The Valkyries get edged out by Plus, due to being somewhat derivative, but still put a neat spin on them.
  8. I believe I'm very close to finishing the main story, quite a few nice twists thrown in there. What really impresses me is how this game forces me to change everything I'm used to with FPS's and draws me in much deeper than any recent game has. Even after hours of playing, getting caught by the Xeno (henceforth nicknamed "Big Ugly") still gives me a jump, and there is no feeling like running out of flamethrower fuel. I look at ceiling air vents with suspicion now, and will likely flip my lid if cardboard boxes on the floor start jostling around. AvP is calling to me for some sweet comeuppance.
  9. ApP 2010 also has those totally awesome Predator fatalities, that's like the only way I fought in the last third of the Predator campaign. They should bundle both games and call it the "Sweet Catharsis Edition." I still have my AvP (99) and AvP2 PC discs somewhere too...
  10. I wonder if there's any possibility we could see those awesome chain gun arms shown in a movie promo years back?
  11. Just got to the end of Mission 5 (hospital) and this game is such a mix of terror and frustration that I plan to play through AvP as soon as I complete it just to get appropriately proportional vengeance against the Xenomorph species. It definitely forces you to change your mentality about first-person gaming, having to watch where and how you step so as not to bump objects. The Xeno got me once when I walked over some papers and they crinkled. When it sees you and roars, you know you have maybe a couple seconds of life remaining to either get very lucky or swiftly dispatched. Anyone gotten yanked up into an air vent yet?
  12. This is the first movie I have ever walked out at the end and felt like my brain had been turned to Jell-O. Such a weird feeling, but the assault on the senses was crazy compared to the first 3 for me. I probably like this one second best after DotM. I appreciated the reduced 15-year-old humor (reduced but not eliminated, and where it got used seemed very forced) and the much-improved human characters, but I feel like they got very lazy with the TFs. Prime seemed very un-Prime-like, understandably guarded toward humanity but absolutely barbaric with the death threats to both humans and the TF antagonists, and an oddly-placed "exasperated father" scene talking about Bumblebee. The shards of metal effect almost seemed like Bay trolling us, for claiming the transformations were too busy and jumbled in the first 3 movies. The dinobots... ehh? Probably the best thing to me in this movie was Lockdown, he seemed like a geniune villain character that had motivation and personality. Galvatron might make for an interesting addition at this point as well, if they can distance him from Megatron (less generic grunting and roaring, more leadership and ambition). Assuming they're using this to kick off the franchise in a new direction, maybe it gives them enough of a foundation to try and make some compelling stories, but I would like more out of the follow-ups. To play devil's advocate for a moment, he spent probably 2/3 of his alt-mode time as a helicopter.
  13. Got my preorder notice for Isolation and it's going to be ready for pickup Tuesday (I'm too old for midnight releases)... sooo looking forward to this! I recently completed Dead Space and have been working through Dead Space 2, which are similar in theme but trend more towards the "shooter" side of things, so a more "survival" focused game will be a nice breath of fresh air. I just hope the PS3 version hasn't been pared down much on account of it being on a last-gen system.
  14. Still enjoying my Anniversary 29, it's one of my favorites to have on display. Fighter mode (no super parts) looks sleek and has next to no gaps, and I occasionally pose it in Gerwalk because it has very attractive legs to complement the overall profile. I need to line up all of my forward-swept wing Valks for a display theme one of these days, it looks great next to the 19's
  15. I'm in the same boat, my VF-25 Ozma (v1) had the swing bars basically crumble over time. I patched them back together, but would really like to replace them with sturdier parts. My VF-25 Michael did not have the same issue with the swing bars, but the "hip thrust" joint cracked on it. It's less of an issue since I don't need to use that joint for Battroid mode, but still kind of disappointing.
  16. Saw it yesterday, fantastic movie. I don't really follow the X-Men movies as much as the Avengers characters, but they did a very good job writing this one and every character shines in good ways. The Sentinels were outright terrifying, and they showed some pretty graphic main character deaths to really drive the point home. The end credits confirm otherwise, but did anyone else see and constantly wonder if Sean William "Stifler" Scott was in this movie? The character in the post-credits scene also looked a little effeminate to me, so much so that I thought it was a woman until I looked it up later... they should have used one of the guys who played the Prometheus Engineers or something.
  17. Does anyone have a good quality image of the console/HUD from the VF-25 series? I'd like to set the "ready" picture as a background photo in my car's navigation system when I first turn it on, think it would look pretty cool.
  18. Prediction: New series is where we see all the new attachments on the VF-30 to replace the missile pod. Yes, I said VF-30. Possibly more Mina Forte as well, but that's a 50/50 for me at this point.
  19. So, it basically mimics Isamu Dyson and Guld Bowman's posture? Can't find a screenshot, but most folks should know what I'm talking about. Still bitter that I missed the preorders for this thing, I hope I can nab one around release time for a halfway decent price.
  20. Re: The New Series I expect more YF-30 (or VF-30, by then) action in the new series, putting it shortly after Macross 30 chronologically. Spending so much time to develop a new Valkyrie, only to have it used in the last 5% of the video game? Methinks not, especially with how quickly this series is being turned around. Thinking in purely commercial terms, I expect the new series to be populated with 29's and variant 30's, since it is essentially their time to shine. Even though other non-Macross series are being rebooted, I am leaning away from that being the case here. Re: Previous Series I am completely unashamed that Macross 7 is far and away my favorite in the family, and recently introduced two slightly younger casual anime fans (25-26yrs old) to Macross by loaning them the first 1/3 of Robotech (easier to follow, gets most of the basics correct), then Plus, and they're almost done with 7. To summarize, each has gone over a little better than the last, and the reactions have been as follows: Robotech Macross Saga: Shows its age, Minmay is annoying but they really thought Rick would end up with her Plus: "Really uses the music-as-a-weapon thing," (haha wait till 7) and really reminded them of Cowboy Bebop visually Macross 7: starts out a little slow and repetitive, but by the end it "rocks" (pun very much intended) I'm eager to see how they receive Zero and Frontier next.
  21. Dang it, I keep missing them!
  22. Wow, that's very impressive! I can't wait to see the full version. I know there are probably numerous nitpicks and minor details, but if it's entertaining and the action looks good, I'll enjoy it. Sad that my Spanish is so rusty, but I was able to pick out a few lines here and there. It looks like they're putting an interesting spin on the RT storyline, in what would be a "prequel" chronologically, with the discovery of the alien power source and the intervening years developing the Veritechs. Sort of like Macross Zero, but more focused on the tech side of things (not to mention no bird-human). The Zentraedi battle armor looks quite awesome as well - it's a good modernization of the original look, more HALO-ish. The Veritech renderings were much more obviously CG, but still seem to be higher quality than most SyFy originals.
  23. Just got my TFC Nemean, this thing is really impressive. Even with reviews and photos available for quite some time, I still didn't expect it to be quite so large. I'm very satisfied with it, and can't wait for the next figures. Since most vocal forum members seem critical about the quality control on TFC figures, I was pretty cautious about this - and out of the box there were two very, very minor flaws. A little bit of excess flash on the peg that the fist attaches to kept it from going on properly, and it was actually rattling around in the box before I opened it (scary). After a quick trim, the fist went back on perfectly and has had no issues. I also had to slightly loosen a couple of the screws in the forearms (about a quarter turn each) because they were locking into place a little too firmly for the lion mode, and made transformation tough. The quality otherwise feels great - everything feels strong and solid, and locks into place well for all 3 modes. The lion mane doesn't impede arm movement like some had worried, and the only point of articulation I think it lacks is a fully ball-jointed head for the bot mode (it's just on a swivel). The combined-mode head is on a ball joint. Probably my only criticism at this point is that the paint apps are quite a bit more muted than the original prototype photo, and so I plan on adding some extra details to mine.
