  1. I'm in Tokyo for the weekend, went down to Mandarake Akihabara and scored an unopened VF-171EX for 15k yen and an "opened" YF-29 for 20k yen. Double yay! I'm finally up to date (but very much poorer)! What's interesting was Mandarake's prices for the renewal VF-25. Alto ver unopened: 27-28k jpy Ozma ver unopened: 31k jpy YF-29 unopened 21k jpy. VF-171EX unopened 15k jpy When you consider the RRP for the Alto and Ozma, the markup is incredible, and should be pretty indicative of the secondary mkt demand for these pieces compared to the YF-29 and VF-171EX!
  2. I've never owned a physical copy of macross tv before, really tempted to spring for this set. The deal breaker between regular and complete ed for me would be the Perfect Memory book... any comments on it?
  3. Kawamori also designed the GP-01 from Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory, though personally I'm not that fond of the design. The Core Fighter is one of the better looking ones though.
  4. Awesome! Can't wait! By the way, that Engrish on the box is amazing...
  5. dang missed out on the 1/60 tv roy again...
  6. No, it's not out yet... release delayed till June http://www.hlj.com/product/SOF36808
  7. Good news From Martin's own blog: http://grrm.livejournal.com/ I have an inkling the 10th episode of Season 3 will be titled "The Rains of Castamere"... If you haven't read A Storm of Swords, don't spoil yourself! Also, from tv co-creader Weiss http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/game-of-thrones-renewed-season-3-306981 There's a lot of material in A Storm of Swords, so Seasons 3/4 then. Seasons 5/6 should be the folded Feast for Crows and Dance with Dragons, but reshuffled so that the events are in chronological order rather than keeping with the books. All this means that Martin needs to finish the sixth book A Winds of Winter in at most 4 years, and the final book A Dream of Spring shortly after if the momentum of one tv season a year is kept...
  8. Back in the day, Bandai used to make 1/100 kit versions in their EX series. dalong is my goto place: Comparing it to a mg gundam, using the cig pack An mg gundam is about 12-15cm tall. Using the cig pack, looks like the 1/100 Mave is gonna be around 10-12cm long. I'm mixed about this. While I love how it looks, and the size is larger than expected, the best price of 10000 yen exc shipping is a huge amount of money. Sorely tempted though!
  9. So sold on this. I really love how the vf171 looks like a sleeker version of the vf17d. Will def get upgrade parts for this, and a cf version as well if ever realised. Hope there are enough to go round this time!
  10. Actually, to tell the truth, I always felt the PGs were easier to build, and you'd prob even need less panel lining since the panels really are separate pieces. Anyways, dalong.net is my go-to site for gunpla builds. What's really nice about that site is that they usually show pics of the built up kits as-is without panel-lining or any touchup. Just saw this at a local dept store: http://gundamguy.blogspot.com/2011/12/system-base-001-review-by-gundam-guy.html Looks good, and would prob fit Bandai's 1/100 valks in battroid mode pretty well too.
  11. Hear hear! A stand with that 30th anniversary logo (kinda like the Fire Bomber one for the Bandai VF-19Kai) but in color would be awesome... Still I think the most important thing right now is to keep the price reasonable. I'd rather have the additional parts released separately than including everything with the box and jacking up the price.
  12. Ah... thanks for the explanations guys. Somehow I keep on thinking that M0 occurred before the SDF crash landed. Prob due to the fact that my earliest exposure to Macross was Robotech
  13. Great news! Though given how the GA variable fighter master file books have always been delayed I doubt it'll be released as per schedule in feb. A thought came to me the other day. Wasn't it the discovery of the SDF1 and overtech that enabled variable fighter tech? And wasn't the need for battroid primarily to counter the large humanoid zentrans? Was there ever any explanation of how the vf0 and sv51 were possible before the discovery of overtech? And battroid mode?
  14. Max's new ride lol I like to add real-world items to my display to give a better sense of scale. Pleasantly surprised to find out that Tomica has some 1/60 cars, picked this up cos I thought the blue stripes would go with Max. Quite happy that Max figure actually looks like it could go in the car. PS Never knew that VF-1 had that high a wing clearance!
  15. Er, not to burst anyone's bubble, but the article is about well the VF25 ver2 fits with the to-be-released super packs. No news on a bundle, though I'll jump at a Super VF25G
  16. Does anyone have the Doyusha 1/144s? Thinking of getting the Roy VF1S and YF-21 with my hlj purchase to go with my 1/144 scale display. Just wondering how they look compared to the CharaWorks 1/144 VF1 valks. It's too bad HLJ doesn't give a shipping estimate before ordering... still contemplating getting a VF22S Max for the shipping deal...
  17. Since Kawamori is already designing something for this, know what would be even cooler? A DLC pack containing Frontier valks (Bandai should have the license, no?). Or at least, that Kawamori designed fighter from Engage Planet Kiss DUM.
  18. Just made payment too. I've been religiously avoiding the Movie 2 discussion threads, it's been agonizing but the wait is finally over. Can't wait to see it! I'm watching it raw. Hopefully with my limited understanding of japanese I'll be able to catch what's going on! I'll prob watch Movie 1 again soon to refresh a bit.
  19. @shaorin I think you'd enjoy Valkyria chronicles. It's really good. You might also want to try the Catherine demo to see if it's your liking. Heavy Rain is also widely lauded but like Catherine it's a love or hate kinda game Anyone bought the playstation wireless 7.1 headset? Seems to be getting good reviews for the price us99
  20. Aye. I've read the book many times and it's still painful getting through the scene. In the book, this is the last scene, but it does make sense that it's rearranged in the miniseries. I'm thinking the last scene of the miniseries will be which rounds off the miniseries nicely.
  21. I just bought a DOTM Powerglide and it's such an amazing toy. It's probably the best depiction of Powerglide's A-10 mode ever, beats the previous voyager version hands down. Great A-10 profile, accurate landing gear placement, removable munitions, kudos to the Hasbro designers who managed to engineer this into something smaller than a Scout class figure. Go out and get one now!
  22. A Dance with Dragons... almost done! Release date: TUESDAY, JULY 12, 2011 http://www.georgerrmartin.com/if-update.html Finally!!! It;s been a long wait... time to start re-reading the first 4 books!
  23. I'm not into multiplayer, only finished the single player campaign. I... didn't like it. Too much shouting. At the end, all I could remember was the shouting. It gets grating after a while. Then again, I played BO after coming off Crysis and the expansion, which were awesome games and makes me wish for more open world gameplay in shooters
  24. I'm in Tokyo for the weekend. Decided at the last minute to watch it at the Humax cinema in Ikebukuro, late movie at 8:20pm. Cinema was about 30% filled, maybe 70-80 ppl. Now bearing in mind that I've never watched the anime before, and that my knowledge of Japanese is marginally passable, I thought it was a decent flick. I can't reminisce about the changes made from the anime to the adaptation so I can only judge it as it is. I generally enjoyed it, loved the CGI, and could roughly follow what was happening on-scene. To me, the only one which required a leap of faith was the I think the film could have benefited from being a two parter. There were some interesting characters in the movie, especially the Chief Engineer guy, but it seemed like due to plot and length the characters suffered. Really awesome was the Yamato doing the I'll still get the eventual home release... it's also made me more interested in the anime! And jeans... so tight...
