Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.5

With the Shizuoka hobby show coming up in about a week's time, I'm looking forward to hopefully colored pics of the Armored Messiah, and hopefully previews of what's next after that. Keeping my fingers crossed about a VF-27 or VF-171... it's about time! We're almost done with the VF-25s, except for the cannon fodders -
Yeah, you just know from the trailers that the first half of the movie is gonna be all about how Sam is fitting into to college and missing Mikhaela, with Bumbleebee occasionally popping by to say how miserable he is. At least we should have Megan Fox eye candy to tide us by till the 'bots and 'cons start showing up

What it says (based on my rudimentary japanese):

Got it from one of the local shops over here. =) Bought SF4 a few days back. All the memories started coming back and I felt like a kid again... and I realized how much I still suck at it Ah well, still fun! Anybody bought the Wolverine game? Seems the reviews are saying it's a pretty decent movie game and true to wolvie's nature... lotsa flying body parts

After looking at the pics of the VF-22, I've done something I've never done before... I've pre-ordered a Yamato macross valk! I'm not usually one for first runs but I figure since this is technically a repaint of the almost problem-free YF-21, I'm hoping there'll be minimal problems in this release. I just wish there were more pics of the head. All the photos I've seen have the two points of light reflecting off the visor, makes the VF-22 look like it's squinting and all dorky-like.

Count me in the PS3 club finally. Picked up a white 80GB one over the weekend with Valkyria Chronicles. Essentially bought it to play Valkyria Chronicles. Love the art style from the anime, and been hearing good things about it. Still getting used to the pseudo-realtime combat system. Not used to the fact that if you stop moving and aren't shooting, the enemy will keep on taking potshots at you. Seems like you gotta press the 'cancel' button immediately after your shot to minimize damage. Downloaded the KZ2 and WipeoutHD demos too. I've been a FPS gamer on the PC for a while now, using a controller instead of a mouse and keyboard is hard, almost seems impossible to precise aim/headshot! Ironically, I've been spending more time streaming media onto my tv with the PS3 Media Server than gaming. Unexpected cool gimmick: the auto generated photo slideshow is great! Borrowed MGS4 from my bro-in-law. Gonna pick up SF4 over the new few days. Still deliberating if I should get KZ2. Demo level was all sorts of intense / awesome though! I hope the rumours of Ace Combat returning to the PS3 are true!

Given the fact that the Armored VF-25 is but a month or two away (June 2009). I'm surprised we haven't seen more updated or colored pics yet. Makes me wonder if it'll be delayed. I don't mind though, since the VF-22 is supposed to be out in June too. Gonna be an expensive month, that. -
Yuuuuuup. Golden week! http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2282.html EDIT: To add to the list of possible re-paints, I just watched Ep20 of M7 last night, and lo and behold, Milia's red VF-11 looks good too! http://www.new-un-spacy.com/macross7/varia...f-11b-milia.htm

I wonder if the VF-22 will come with a heatshield/armor over the cockpit? Never really paid the VF-22 much attention before, but noticed from the Macross Mecha Manual that the canopy is protected while in battroid mode.
-
Aye, same here too. Much prefer the VF-11C colors, or even the VFX2 colors over the M+ colors. The fact that there's a VF-22 gives me hope that there'll be a repaint of the VF-11 soon! =)
-
I like the design of the VF-11, not so much the Isamu DYRL colors though. Much prefer the M7 CF pale gray/white color scheme, but I guess since M7 is a Bandai licence, we'll never see such a repaint?
-
Wow! Thanks! I'm skipping the VT-1, but that VE-1's a sure get... any expected release date?

I was in between getting Alto's FPs or not for my VF-25F. Decided in the end to hold out for a possible pack-in with Alto's (maybe a movie edition?) While I like the look of the FP-ed Alto, i can't really justify the price I'll end up paying for the super packs, what with it being an exclusive and all. Since I quite like the look of a bare VF-25, I'll prob keep my Alto unadorned, and hope for a retail Super VF-25F in the future! -
I've been thinking along the same lines too. However, I was kinda thinking that it's the same T-1000 but from Derek's timeline, when Jessie wasn't onboard the Jimmy Carter to interrupt the transaction and it agreed to join John Connor and go back into the past. Why else would it rather protect John Henry than to assassinate Sarah Connor. Also, wasn't the only time Weaver went into full Terminator mode her attack on that desert facility making the proto HKs? At that time, I thought she wanted to cover her tracks... but what if her mission is to eradicate any early signs of future skynet and groom John Henry into "good" skynet...

Battlestar Berzerk? Berzerk-class Battlestar? Good finds btw. Now if only there's a homeworld-styled mod for BSG... actually, come to think of it, HW1's plot was similar wasn't it, about finding a new home... iirc... -

The Pyscho Gundam transforms from a mecha... into a flying refridgerator. It's true! Not the best of comparisons IMO. Anyway, the recent Figure King articles have stated that Kawamori was highly involved in the design of the DX version, not just the Bandai Chogokin group, and he himself admitted there were limitations to making a playable and durable toy. I still don't see why there's still so much vehemence towards Bandai in the light of that article... -

From Hobby Stock blog as well: So looking forward to the RVF... I think PVC for its antenna should look ok, and suit it pretty well actually! -
Any bets on who's gonna pilot the O Gundam? I'm thinking Graham, since his Masarao got de-armed, and he's the only other pilot left with no effective mecha. Still, I'd very much like to see his Masarao in action again. Maybe... Feldt? She hasn't really done much this season. Speaking of which... I wonder what happened to Ali Al-Saachez...

Aye, I had that creeping thought throughout too, that ... somehow... Excellent ep... Boomer's really cold hearted. So it was all Cavill's plan to get Hera? -

Nice pics, though he seemed to have missed out a part of the 'gullet'? -
Is anyone here collecting the excellent 1/144 Star Wars Vehicle Collection by Platz/F-toys, based on molds by Fine Molds? These are really amazing for what you get, no complaints about sculpt or paint in Series 1 unlike the Valkyrie Collection. 1/144 fits in great with other 1/144 stuff (Valks, Votoms, Gundam, fighters) to boot! Here's series 1, released last year: Series 2 pics just released, with a March release date: more pics: http://www.platz-hobby.com/products/1637.html Given how well Series 1 turned out, I'm really excited about Series 2. Hoping this line continues till we get the Millenium Falcon, TIE Interceptors, Bombers, A-wings, B-wings, ARC-170s, Gunships.... there's a LOT of potential for this line...

I've been having that same thought for quite a while now, ever since I saw the low res pics of Lucas. While Michael was just a better character than Lucas, the RVF-25 just looks cooler, and I find that the more muted and less contrasting color scheme on the RVF looks extremely good, especially with the fast packs. That said, if I was able to squeeze out more cash, I'd be sure to get the VF-25G! -

Was looking at some destroid pics when I came across this omake Quite an interesting size comparison of the VF-1 and VF-25, and the VF-25 doesn't look half bad in this pic either!
