It's out, isn't it? Anybody have it yet? How does it play? Particularly interested in the Empire of the Rising sun... the units are so anime-based...

http://mainichi.jp/enta/mantan/news/200810...00c.html?inb=rs According to the article, the just-released ORICON BluRay chart rankings for 28th Oct show that the 3rd BD release from MF is sitting on top of the charts, which makes it 3 in a row, a record of sorts. Also mentioned in the article is that OST2 has sold more than 102k copies in one week, making it the first anime cd soundtrack since End of Eva (1997) to make it past 100k in a week. I'd say things are looking bright for the Macross franchise right now. =)

Urgh, according to the website, those decals ("Deculture Edition") will only be given to those who buy alto's VF-25 at the show. Darn, so wanted the ranka decals for my Monster! -

from ew.com http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2008/10/ask-ausiello--1.html : Question: What the frak! Is Battlestar Galactica ever returning? -- Ken Ausiello: Good news: A Sci Fi source confirms to me exclusively that the last half of season 4 premieres on Friday, Jan. 16, at 10 p.m. Which, by my calculations, puts the series finale (boo-hoo!) at Friday, March 20. Viewing party at Tim Stack's place, and you're all invited! Finally!!!! -

Looks like it. I asked a reliable shop over here in Singapore, and it seems like it's been sold out in Japan. No more stock till the next re-issue. Oh well, perhaps by then I'll get the Ozma one instead =) -

You know how kawamori once said the latter parts of MF would be like any other macross series before it... what if he went eva on us, and the last ep is really like the teaser at the end of ep 24, just 20 mins of page flipping old macross art books, talking about song, love and war, MF character sketch art etc... wouldn't that be a total mind-frak? -

Aye, from this page http://www.fig-soul.com/07/4543112555250.html it seems to say that for the wings and the neck, metal shafts are used to strengthen the joints =) -
Bandai/Tamashi Nations 1/100 lineup. 2009 takeoff!
the_foul_fowl replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Aye, I concur. If not having PT means 1) good sculpt in all 3 modes, 2) sturdiness (i.e. no parts dropping off) and 3) resilience to parts breakage, then I'm all for non-PT. At least I can play with it! While I love the engineering and design of the Yamato toys, all the reports of breakage on a >US$100 item has made me paranoid to transform it too much. -
Which of the CONFIRMED VF100's are you looking forward to the most
the_foul_fowl replied to UN Spacy's topic in Toys
VF-4 for me. The design looks different enough from other VFs, and it reminds me a lot of the fighters from Wing Commander. =) Actually, second for me would be the VF-25s. I think the fact that these are in scale with Yamato's 1/100 Destroid Monster makes a cool display! -

What was Ranka singing right at the end? That was a beautiful song... meshed perfectly with the mood at the final scene. -

Has this been posted yet? According to (Mainichi News, Lion has appeared in 3rd place on the Oricon charts, with more than 56,000 copies sold. It also states that all 4 of the Macross F CDs have debuted within the top 5 spots, and the reporter is calling it a "anime song boom" (アニソンブーム ) Cheers to the music team behind MF!

Still, I think in one of Kawamori's interviews he mentioned that the last few episodes of Frontier (>20?) are going to be unlike any other macross series... I hope he doesn't go Tomino on us, but at this point, I've got a baaaad feeling about this... -

Well, I always wanted to get Max and Miriya together, but in 1/48, they were too expensive. At 1/60, getting both seems just about ok for my wallet. Looking to get the TV 1J Hik and CF, but that should be all I'm gonna get for the variants of the VF-1. Keeping the 1/48 Vf-1S Roy as the highlight of my Macross collection -

I can't remember if the cartoon He-Man ever used a shield, but I'm sure the toy which I have somewhere in the house, comes with it, looks exactly like in the pic! "By the power of eternia... I have the power!" -

To me, this was one of the best episodes so far. Pacing was excellent, plot and character development was good and while I've not watched M7, I thought the feel of the music fitted the scenes perfectly! Of course, lotsa death flags everywhere (pineapple cake anyone?), even non-Macross homage ones, like the lingering shots of Ozma, or reminiscing on the past, a sure death flag for many anime characters! Haha, felt ol' Kawamori and gang must have had a blast with all the misdirection in the ep, and agreed that Ozma's last line about not dying was a real wink-wink to the fans by the staff, i mean, Ozma was looking directly at us! hahaha.... 'new' OP is cute! but I miss the mecha porn. I guess this is just for this ep, till the actual OP (Lion?) appears next week? -

Starfighter Justification, your ideas
the_foul_fowl replied to Knight26's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
=> Independence Day I know the movie's been panned by most of the folks here, but I thought the way they showed human tech (missles, nukes) as virtually useless against alien tech (shields) pretty much hit the mark you were trying to make... -
My feeling is that Ranka was genetically engineered to be an interface of sorts for the Vajra, and Aimo is perhaps the song thought by Ranshe to calm down the Vajra. Actually, I think that Ranka is going to seriously side with the Vajra in the future eps, to the extent when the Vajra are on the brink of extinction while being hunted down, and Ranka will somehow stand in the way of whatever weapons are going to be directed towards the Vajra.

Hear hear! Trailer: The Rising Sun faction in RA3 looks to be a mecha lover's dream. Now, I'm just wondering, how easy/difficult it would be to mod the skins for the Mecha Tengu into something more macross-y -
Yep, i was referring to the fighters. I mean, while the scene with Machida was amazing, I thought it would have been even greater, if say the Vajra that Machida took out, actually shot down a VF-171 in the scene before it. Could've even re-used some footage from Ep1. And yes, I do agree that fhere's no need to show every unit's action, since ultimately the show has to focus on the main characters, but little touches like what I described above, showing both sides trading punches, even if ultimately showing the NUNS emerging as victors, would have really helped the scenes. We do know that NUNS lost some units from the reports to President Glass, I just thought showing, rather than telling, would have helped the overall feel of the fleet actions in the ep...
