  1. I enjoyed it a lot. Frenzy was better than expected, reminded me of a gremlin on crack! Loved the bit when the protoforms came to Earth, and the introduction of the autobots. Could have done with more interactions between the Decepticons though the scene between Megs and Starscream was classic Transformers. That scene when SS took down the F-22s made me wish for more in the sequel... wouldn't it be great if Jetfire was in the next movie, and he just happened to scan a retired F-14? Jetfire vs SS, F-14 vs F-22... the closest we'd get to live action macross zero/plus!
  2. Oh wow, Bandai's plamo 1/20 Scopedog looks excellent, check out RunChickenS's coverage: http://happy.ap.teacup.com/runchickens/498.html Looks like it'll come with photo-etched parts too! And... are those round cylinders shell casings?
  3. Managed to find a pic of the Tread from Shizuoka. Nothing new, looks like the same resin proto we've seen befrore: http://ga.sbcr.jp/g-toys/46shizuoka/04/25.html
  4. Why ripoff? Actually the more recent news in the past few months have not mentioned anything about magnet action, and the box itself doesn't say anything too. Me, I managed to pick up a VF-1S, CF and Angel Bird. Quality's ok for the price, but the seam lines can be quite distracting on the nose cone. And yeah, my CF landing gear doors are matched to the brown on the CF, so no complaints about that too. Decals are nice, only complaint are the decal sets for the VF-1As (CF and Angel Bird). They're the same, and come with 2 sets of numbers 1-5 for the tails. BUT! while one side is slanted correctly to fit the tail, the other is slanted by mirror imaging, so the numbers are reversed! The provided stand is good too, comes with a ball and socket at the top so there's lots of ways that you can angle the valk. Cockpits are also nicely detailed though they lack any color other than grey. All in, not bad for the SG$10.90 (approx US$7) I paid for my 3 blind boxes
  5. Yup only the standalone Ghost has been released. According to the Yamato website, the set's still not out yet, so prob still no cause for worry http://www.yamato-toys.com/items/detail.php?gid=1010
  6. Nice! I think the white on the shoulders and chest of the GBP complement well with the white of the VF-1, better than the low vis actually.
  7. Anyway, it's out according to amiami, lotsa pics in the link http://www.amiami.com/shop/?vgForm=Product...ate=review.html Box contents from 1999.co.jp: http://www.1999.co.jp/image/10053519p/10/1
  8. Well, according to this: http://www.yamato-toys.com/items/detail.php?gid=1011 it does come with the parts for use the VF-0A and VF-0S Also the street date from the link is...発売日 2007年4月27日 予定 27 Apr... tomorrow!
  9. I haven't seen this anime being discussed on the boards so thought I'd start a new topic for this. Gigantic Formula's similar to G Gundam, in that wars are fought using duels between mecha. The story's focused on Suwa and Japan's Gigantic, the Susanoo 10, and presumably will follow his duels with the other mecha What's really interesting about this anime is that list of mecha designers. Yup, each mecha is designed by a different guy, and the list reads like a who's who list of big names, among them: Ikuto Yamashita - Eva Junya Ishigaki - G Wing/FMA Kanetake Ebikawa - Vandread/Yukikaze Katsushi Murakami - Macross/Gunbuster Kazutaka Miyatake - Macross Kimitoshi Yamane - SEED/Escaflowne Kunio Okawara - Gundam Shoji Kawamori - Macross Takeshi Takakura - Appleseed Yasuhiro Moriki - Nadesico Yutaka Izubuchi - CCA So far the first two eps have been about Susanoo vs China's Xuan Wu Shen (designed by Miyatake), pretty cool battles and a great sountrack. Susanoo's design is a bit underwhelming, looks a lot like a SRW design, but Xuan Wu Shen is unique! The only disconcerting thing so far is the character design. It's pretty diff from what we're used to, especially the large red circles on the cheeks when the characters blush! Anybody else following this?
  10. Wow, looks like Bandai's jumping on the Votoms bandwagon too. Check out the June relaese of a 1/20 Scopedog kit http://www6.ocn.ne.jp/~midori-b/newpic/nes-g0721.htm
  11. Thanks David! Sounds good, Max has always been my favourite ever since I watched Robotech many many years ago, really leaning towards getting that instead of the SV-51!
  12. I had just finally decided on getting the SV-51 when this got announced... argh, gotta decide... The blue and red colors on the M&M valks, are they painted on or are they molded in color? I would have thought painted on but it seems like quite a large area for a paint app, almost the entire valk!
  13. Thanks! Wow, you're right, looks really good. Production visuals look top-notch.... it's got missle-spam too!
  14. This was posted on another forum I visit... From Tokyo Anime Fair: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v610/the...l/engageuh3.jpg Oooh, they've got a working model/toy already?

    Graham's Sig

Is that a VF-11 booster in your jeans, or are you just happy to see me?
  16. Me, well I'd like a more 'real' world color, something like the VF-0A or Berkut dark grey colours would be nice. Next would be a VF-19A. I kinda like the smurfy, sky blue colours! I like the design of the YF-19, but still holding on a getting one cos I don't really like the current beige colours
  17. Saw more pics from the 19th Miyazawa Mokei Spring Business Support Sale, as covered by GA Graphics. Lotsa pics, here's the link http://ga.sbcr.jp/g-toys/miyazawa2/01/index.html Closeup of the cockpit and Ivanov http://ga.sbcr.jp/g-toys/miyazawa2/01/17.html Stand looks really huge from this angle http://ga.sbcr.jp/g-toys/miyazawa2/01/21.html
  18. From http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/events...yam-ghost-1.JPG That answers my own question Looks like the attachments will be included after all! Yay!
  19. Thanks Graham! Appreciate your rushing it for us!
  20. Thanks Noel! Wow, haha, didn't know they were that old! 6 years!!!
  21. Saw these off dannychoo's coverage of Wonderfest... hmmm, anybody know what these are? Haven't heard anything about this before... http://www.dannychoo.com/slide/eng/wonfes2...Winter+-+Mecha/ http://www.dannychoo.com/slide/eng/wonfes2...Winter+-+Mecha/ http://www.dannychoo.com/slide/eng/wonfes2...Winter+-+Mecha/ Sculpts look really good
  22. Igloo is well-worth watching Like the others have said, the plot centres around a technical unit reviewing experimental weapons. I especially like how the second 'half' of Igloo, Apocalypse, starts to show how desperate the Zeons are. Storyline is self-contained within each ep, but the trend gets predictable. Still, the visuals are pretty amazing, and the second ep with the Hidolfr remains one of my fav eps overall from the series. Visuals-wise, ep 4 with the flying z'gok is pretty spectacular
  23. I'm really new into Macross, so far all I've got are: 1/60 VF-0A 1/48 VF-1A Low Vis2 1/48 VF-1J Stealth 1/48 Stealth Strike parts Yeah, really small compared to the rest of you guys! I'm pretty much trying to limit my collection to unique paint schemes though, so that kinda removes like half of the 1/48s (basically the DYRL Valks) from further consideration! Wants: 1/48 VF-1S Fokker (the only 'white' valk I should be getting) 1/48 Strike parts 1/48 VF-1J Max (if it ever gets re-released) 1/48 CF (maybe!) I like the YF-19, but I'd much rather get a low-vis color scheme, so if that's announced, I'll be all over it!
  24. The Hi-Nu looks great! Heck, if Bandai can make a Hi-Nu, I hope the Nightingale isn't that far behind!
  25. Thought so, but a search on the Internet revealed the pic was taken from one of the combined fleet practices back in 2005 http://www.navy.mil/search/display.asp?story_id=18516
