Complete! (and this really, truly feels complete, as I've been slogging away at it for 4 days!) Technology 01C: Variable Fighter: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtechnology/01cVariableFighter.php - this is the mother load of info on gun pods. There's really too much new info to summarize in a few lines. There's only one thing that should probably be pointed out as it tended to get lost in the translation: the article continually reinforces that gun pods are "real object bullet" firing weapons (as opposed to beam and laser guns, that don't fire a solid object). Most times, I rendered it as bullet-firing. Sometimes as corporeal bullet pending the context (as real object bullet is just confusing, IMHO).

Correction: the VF-1 is tiny because it's designed to match the stature of the Zentraadi when in Battroid form. OTEC et al only enables the small size, they didn't require it to be small.

Neither. Portable games, as Azrael posted, and myself and other MW members in Japan have been repeatedly saying over the years, is where the business is at in Japan. Period. Glad that you caught that (that they're movie BRs + game) - those "game" sales have to be taken with a grain of salt as it's nigh impossible to know how many people who purchased those have actually played the game that wsa included with it.

The AAS-171EX Armour Pack has a pair of MDE Weapon Micro-Missile Launcher Pods in the chest armour (note: it was only seen on Alto's VF-171EX). Source: Macross Chronicle, Macross F Official Fan Book, et al.

Complete: History M 01A: Fall of the ASS-1: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRhistory/M01AFallOfTheASS-1.php I wasn't intending to do the entire sheet when I started. However, everywhere I looked was full of interesting info (some of it heretofore untranslated into English!). Alas, there are two strikes against the sheet: they've removed the reference to where South Ataria Island is (other sources have given a specific location), and the fictitious mid-East country that is the nominal start of the Unification War.

In universe, I can't remember a specific reason (pre-morning coffee at the mo'.) Out of universe: Kawamori-san et al wanted a design motif for the VF-25 that took things back to SDFM. The gun pod was one of the parts of the VF design that reflected that.

Image theft is a frustrating, aggravating reality, and I agree that the stock Deviant Art watermark leaves A LOT to be desired. I recommend that you: turn it into a watermark (transparency of 10 to 20%, so it's not obtrusive, but is still visible) and put it right on the character (it's current placement can still be cropped out of the image). You can still add an opaque signature or contact info in another part of the image. Here's an example: http://studiootaking.deviantart.com/art/VF-5-Over-Gas-Giant-304272876?q=gallery%3Astudiootaking%2F142150&qo=8

Wuzzat? The cover and interior VF-19P art is... different?! That was from the original run. If memory serves, the Quarter was a sized-reduced reprint of an earlier page, too!

Theoretically Valkyries do not have a maximum speed in space, irrespective of gravity. However, I suspect that they do have a maximum limit, because after a certain speed, it starts to get extremely difficult to do your job (attacking enemies, protecting your friends). However, Valkyries do have a maximum acceleration. Some (especially the newer ones) have eyeball popping rates that leave the comparatively slower (usually older) models in the dust. Gravity is a variable, and depending on how large it is, how close you are, your vector and rate of acceleration, it could work for you or against you. So, going back to your question: the speed of a Valkyrie in space is infinitely larger than Mach 2. But that speed is entirely irrelevant, because in space combat, it's your ability to change your vector and rate of acceleration/deceleration that matter the most.

Complete: Timeline 07A: The World After the Unification War: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtimeline/Timeline07A.php - I was surprised at what was tweaked. One or two of them makes things somewhat more consistent with previously published materials, but a lot bleaker. Mechanic: Zero UN 01B: VF-0S Phoenix: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/Zeroun01bVF-0S.php - a bunch of minor edits to the existing page. The new content is interesting, but not exactly unexpected. Partial: History: Plus 02A: Sharon Apple Galaxy Tour (Eden Performance): http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRhistory/Plus02aSharonAppleConcert.php - neat that there was a temporary sales ban on her music as punishment.

If memory serves, the GPU-9 is also longer than the GU-11. Smaller cartridge size + longer barrel = more ammo. The GU-11 and other gun pods from it's era have the ammo belts wrapped around the cowling of the weapon. Where would such belts be stored on the airframe? Where would they find the time to have the internal motors spool the belt into the weapon? I believe it ended up looking the way it did is because of the requirements of the design: test prototype meets established VF-1 design. With a layer of 20+ years of real world technological advancements added on top. EDIT: not liking the updated forum software's auto format setting... had to edit this twice just to get it readily legibly!

Doubly odd, as the impressions I got from the manga adaptation of the 2199 series is that the spaceship IS the old battleship...

Newtype Ace 2013 Vol. 19 Macross on the cover: the 3 SDFM bridge bunnies (is this the first time they've appeared in pink uniforms?) flanked by Sheryl Nome (movie faux military uniform) Emblazoned with the text: "Macross! Macross! "Macross the First" #5 and "Macross FF" tankobon on sale March 26!" The service for this month is a "Shirow Masamune Works" booklet. A few new pieces in his "Dead Drive" series, a collection of the posters he did for the first 6 issues of NA, and summaries of "Apple Seed", "Orion", "Black Magic", "Dominion", "The Ghost in the Shell" (with 1/2 a page dedicated to the new "Arise" series) and the "Intron Depot" series. The foldout poster also has a new "Dead Drive" illustration by the master. NA Anime Station: BD&DVD: "Macross FB7 Listen to my song!" releasing on April 24. BD: initial special edition ï¿¥8,190, Regular Edition: ï¿¥5,040. DVD: ï¿¥5,040 Game: Macross 30 Web: http://www.macross30.com/mtg Presents: 3 Macross 30 prizes are available. "Macross Triangle Talk": 5 page NA interview with Kawamori Shouji, Matsui Rena, and Kikuya Megane (Macorss FF's manga-ka). Includes picts of Kawamori transforming the DX Chogokin YF-29 and his Lego VF-25. I believe the interview takes place in Kawamori's office (drool over the bookshelf!). Fittingly, they're drinking from Macross-themed coffee mugs (Kikuya has a Ranka/Sheryl mug, Kawamori has Ranka's movie version mobile phone mug, and Matsui's is hidden behind statues of Ranka and Sheryl from the 2nd MF movie. Macross News Live: Sankyo Presents Macross Crossover Live 30. http://macrosslive30.com BD&DVD: Macross FB7 BD Box: Macross Plus Complete Blu-Ray Box: ï¿¥17,850. Released on June 21. Note: box illustration by Tenjin Hidetaka. Novel: Macross 30 ~The voice that connects the Galaxy": 336 pgs. ï¿¥1,470. Released on March 30. Game: Macross 30 Manga: Macross the First: Tales of South Ataria Phase 3 Same bridge bunny art as the cover (albeit flanked by Global). Oddly, their jackets are a cream colour... Macross FF Aruto heads over to the abandoned Island 4 to rescue Sheryl who's had her brain hacked and taken over and just announced her intention to take a respite from singing. Despite that, crowds have still shown up to check out the Charity Concert she, Ranka and the S.M.S. crew are doing (not a spoiler, all from last month's issue!) To say that the ending is predictable would be an understatement. What is surprising is that Macross FF comes to an end with this issue. Next issue: Manga: Macross the First Gundam Ace x Newtype Ace x Samurai Ace new releases for March 1 to March 31: Macross FF: on 03.26 for ï¿¥588 Macross the First #5: on 03.26 for ï¿¥588

Agreed: assuming those three actors are going to be main characters is... odd, given the available info: the movie is in the process of development, the actors are in the process of negotiation. Indications are that whatever capacity they're going to appear in, it's going to be something can be either removed from the script or easily replaced if they don't agree to appear. Ergo: not the main characters. I'm expecting something akin to Yoda's or Obi-Wan's role, at most. A thought keeps coming to mind whenever I read this topic: what if they come back in the capacity of voice acting, only? Star Wars has oodles of 3DCG characters after all. And all the main characters were replaced by virtual stuntmen at one point or another in the prequels...

First, it's Megaroad-01 Emigrant ship (Immigrant is an alternative possibility). Second: they were never lost in a fold fault (dislocation, whatever). They disappeared way back in the late '80's or early '90's before such a concept was introduced in the late 00's in MF. The closest we'll get to anything resembling official about their fate can be found in this translation I did a year ago: http://nomansland.site.nfoservers.com/MRG-Active-Archive//forums/index.php?topic=2872.0 That all said, we have at least two of the characters that disappeared showing up in the Macross 30 game. So... the fate of the Megaroad-01 Super Long Range Emigrant ship has kinda got the potentiality of having an alternative fate (taking Kawamori-san's "what we're seeing is a fiction within a fiction" into consideration).

Extra Report + project: Worldguide 25A: Renown VF Squadrons: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRworldguide/25ARenownVFsquads.php This feels like it'll be an easy sheet to polish off, but I also have the funny feeling that at the time of writing, it won't be worth that effort... Partial (to get rid of that feeling of deja vu that I've translated it whenever I look at the sheet...) Mechanic: D7 Etc 02B VA-3CKai Invader Kai: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/D7etc02BVA-3Ckai.php I think I got the most interesting stuff on the sheet (aka information that, to the best of my knowledge, hasn't previously been made available in English). Interesting how the poaching group has gone to so much effort to increase it's underwater performance.

Correct you are! The DYRL version cockpit ones are referred to as "late period" models, and have "greatly tuned up electronics and engines". The TV version cockpit ones are referred to as "early period" models.
