If they had framed the scene as that (this is a bunch of OFF DUTY soldiers getting some R&R, then I would've bought into it. As it is, it's a mess...

Timeline 02 http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtimeline/Timeline02A.php There's a correction in the Japanese, which doesn't amount to much (akin to putting a hyphen in a word). Otherwise, same old, same old. Alas, they didn't correct the F-14A+'s "AIN-54"...

Personally, I think it's a combination of not knowing what they wanted to do, being busy with Ace and Unicorn (there's only so much talent to spread around), and I'm sure they want to maximize sales of such things as the Puramo kits - no point in spending more to earn the same or less in sales, in this post Leeman shock, high yen economy.

Interesting theories. Alas, if I understand things correctly, the Zentraadi ships do not have bio-regenerating armour... (movie version mobile fortress is something else altogether) Nevertheless, I think the bio-implant theory has merit, as the Zentraadi have that technology (Buritai, Bodoru), and the tentacles are the same as Bodoru's hands (albeit at a much smaller scale). Though, if memory serves, the creepy explanation is that it's a kind of hair that can be controlled by one's thoughts - apparently 1/4 of all Zentraadi have that creepy hair in one form or another (like Ranka).

Mechanic Zero UN 02B VF-0A Phoenix http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/ZEROun02bVF-0A.php (partial) Just continuing the transfer/check for changes of previously translated content. Nothing new in the content or translation - aside from grammar tweak-age.

Correct. The old B sheet's front is now reverse left, and the old reverse is the new's reverse right. There's an additional set of stats on the front, but the data is identical to that in the set of stats on the front of the old A sheet.

Gallery M: Minmei by Mikimoto Haruhiko http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRgallery/Mminmei.php Did it 'cuz I was curious and it not only looked, but was easy. Anyhow, what's notable is the change from the first edition: the original was a foldout page with the two images on this page on the reverse. Does this mean that the Revised Ed. is opting to save the foldout pages for additional Mechanic Pages, like this week's YF-19 B sheet and next week's VF-19Kai B sheet?

Glossary 01 http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRglossary/Glossary01a.php No changes to the images or text. Only real change is the sheet number: 01 := 01A Nevertheless, I've cleaned up the translations and redid some (the ISC description might actually make sense now. Definite maybe.)

#2 Contents: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRseriesguide/MCRseriesguide.php#2 Now, if you're not a completest, you can probably give this issue a pass. The only thing truly worthwhile, not in the first series, is the YF-19 Battroid painting. However, if you're picking up issue 1, then you've already got a small thumbnail of it. EDIT: before I forget, next issue is due out: 2013.02.05

Tenjim was the least worst part of that sequence. I'd go so far as to say that he was the only Zentraadi on Gaul 4 that acted like a normal person (an enraged, psychopath, but a person nonetheless). The other ones going gah-gah for an idol singer? Sad where the producers of MF decided to take the Zentraadi to...

Where #1 was #2 is... The Battroid YF-19 FAST Pack painting is nice. The Bandai 1/100 Fighter Mode series is neat. But the 4 sheets of episodes and lack of other new content is... well... see piccie above.

Nods. It was an excellent counterpoint to the lost Zentraadi that Isamu battled with at the start of M+. Alas, MF gave the Zentraadi the short end of their stick with their later appearance on Gaul 4. T.T

Heh. That's the exact same chart that's on the back of MC 02 - in the form of an ad. It's twitchy, alright. I recommend toggling BB code on/off as a quick fix.

I don't think it's a total failure in the sense of applying to all Zentraadi. One could interpret the sign of peace as a reaction to Bodolza et al's reaction to not wanting to concede or give up power to the Protoculture - which is what integration would entail - and those Zentraadi that didn't integrate are what continued to multiply and wage ware for 500,000 years. Nevertheless, either way, the Zentraadi are tragic figures. Which is what makes them extremely compelling as protagonists for me.

Please help with the translation of a few words

Before I forget... the Timeline 01 sheet was renamed Timeline 01A. Could this be because some timeline sheets are going to be doubled (a la an A and B sheet)? Or simply to make it consistent with the other numbered sheets?

Timeline 01 http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtimeline/Timeline01A.php Aside from the aforementioned richer colours, and tweaks to the translation, there are the following changes in the revised edition: - colour SDF-1 - change to the right margin timeline (addition: establishment of the AUA; change: establishment of the UG delayed by 1 month). See linky for details.

Mechanic: Plus UN 03B: VF-11B http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/PLUSun03bVF11B.php Originally I was only planning to compare the sections of text between the original and revised editions that I had translated, but I ended up completing the entire sheet! Not to mention fixing some ghastly translation errors... was I drunk and half asleep at the time...? Anyhow, aside from the aforementioned changes (see the immediately preceding post) and page number changes, the sheets are exactly the same.

Series Guide: All Macross Series Guideline http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRseriesguide/AllMacSerGui.php Probably the most noteworthy thing on it is how the TV and OVA series are segregated into the main time line, and the movies (and MII) are not. Anyhow, been taking a closer look at the VF-11B sheet from Issue #1 (and #29 from the original), and the text and artwork is virtually unchanged. There are some colour differences, but it's within the margin of error for the printers, and not that of any changes on the part of the writing staff. If anything, the Revised edition has richer colours.

This raises a big gaping plot hole in Eps III: in Eps. VI, Leiah says something along the lines of having memories of her mother. I interpret that as something along the lines of having spent a couple of years with her mother (even if she was only a toddler). Definitely not something retained from the extremely short, immediately post-childbirth time she spent as depicted in SW III - something that Luke has in common (and makes one wonder why he doesn't remember the EXACT SAME THING). Anyhow, yeah, I hope that VII takes the series in a new direction, completely ignores Eps I~III, and references only the original versions of IV~VI.

Sarcasm aside, THE problem is that the scripts for the prequels essentially amounted to first drafts. That's probably the biggest difference with the original series. Appearances are that this VII will sidestep that problem. We've got Mr. Lucas's notes. A writer to flesh the notes out into a script. A director to review the script. And back to Mr. Lucas to review it once more. Team movie-making rocks!

Nods. Let's not forget how many improved lines the director let's the actors do. We all know the classic improved line from Eps V. Not saying that the whole movie needs improv, but the apparent lack of it was felt in Eps I~III.

Nah, I'm going to try my luck with the VF-4 'cuz I figure the odds are better. Of course, everyone else might be doing that, so going for the signed illustration might be better odds... argh! Logic loop!
