    Macross 30

It appears that Mr. Kodachi Ukyo (of Macross the Ride fame) is in charge of the scenario (probably as close as one can get to story in a game...)
  4. Dengeki Hobby 2012.02 Pg 15 Topic 11 It's been decided that the latest Macross PS3 game is a collaboration with Dengeki Hobby! Macross 30 ~the singing voice that connects the galaxy~ In commemoration of the 30th Macross anniversary, a long-awaited new game appears. Mr Kodachi Ukyo, who wrote such things as the "Macross F" novelization and this magazine's original Macross story, "Macross the Ride", is in charge of the scenario of this game. Even though we've only heard that in addition to the appearance of successive generations of Macross characters and mecha, that it is set 1 year after "Macross F" in 2060, our expectations are high for this game. It's been decided that'll be a collaboration between Dengeki Hobby magazine and this fan's long-awaited game. Although the details will be announced next issue, we wanted to at least inform you of the planned novelization of the setting of this new game. Of course, because Mr. Kodachi Ukyo is in charge of the writing, the degree of perfection in this work is guaranteed. A new Macross story starts from Dengeki Hobby, in a wonderful collaboration between a game and a modelling magazine! Caption: All appearances of the Macross characters and aircraft are in the game. The new YF-30 aircraft that appears this time is, of course, designed by Kawamori Shouji! It's an aircraft that asks what kind of transformation mechanism it has!" Review: in short, the layer of airbrushed black along the panel lines that were painted on BEFORE any other colours gives this thing a well-roasted, left out in the rain too long look. If you're into that, it's great looking. I'm not. Pg 121 Macross the Forefront Bandai 1/72 Fully Transformable VF-1 Valkyrie Review: picts of the mock-up and Kawamori-san working hard evaluating and refining the kit. Mostly picts of the Battroid form, with only one of the fighter form. The main highlight is the option parts: gun pod (grip out), AAM-1 3-missile rack, UUM-7 missile pod & an RMS-1. Cost and release date are undecided. Pg 122 Macross the Forefront con't A follow-up report on the successive generations of Macross flight action RPG! Technically, it's "non Studo Nue timeline". Which, in real world terms, probably means that there are legal complications. Ie: it'll cost more to get the licence to use the designs. I'm not saying that's the reason why we haven't seen anything from MII in the game to date (it very well might appear in a later announcement), especially as Big West is the owner... Nevertheless, it might just be Kawamori who poo-pooed the designs. Or it might be to reflect the general (Japanese) Macross fan's view of what a Valkyrie is (if memory serves, Tenjin Hidetaka himself feels that if a Valkyrie is NOT designed by Kawamori-san, it's NOT a Valkyrie. End of story.) Personally, I don't feel like the in-universe technology in the MII designs matches very well with the Studio-Nue timeline's technological evolutions and revolutions, but that's just me.

    I thought it was a cross-time game, not a cross-reality game?
  9. Wouldn't that be when the concept of a transforming toy was submitted? Heh... anime magic.

I'm not talking about one of those. I'm talking about the PS1 game.

Getting and maintaining a lock on? One of the most challenging parts of VFX2 was keeping the opponents (especially the Ghost X-9s) within the "butter zone" long enough to not only lock-on, but fire missiles. Some of those dogfights were truly epic... Dogfight being used in the Macross sense.
  12. Keitai pic of the poster showing up in Keihan stations and trains (damn... should've taken another shot "just in case". It's regrettably blurry):
  13. I think he's replying sarcastically to the poster that asserted there's magic, when there is an explanation for those that are paying attention...

Macross SDE Homepage: http://www.chojikuutenrankai.com/ Translations: - Event Outline - Ticket Information - Cafe - Event Content Hirakata Park Homepage: http://www.hirakatapark.co.jp/ Hirapa Access: http://www.hirakatapark.co.jp/access/ ** If you're coming from outside of the Kansai area, it's recommended that you pick up a Surutto Kansai 2-day pass, 3 -day if you're planning to stay that long. (Though, I've been told by station staff that the 2-day passes are only available outside of the Kansai region. So you'll have to inquire where you'll be able to purchase one.) The cons of the ticket is that you won't be able to use JR. The pros are unlimited travel in the Kansai Thru Pass area, on pretty much every other form of mass transit, including the ones needed to get to the M:SDE venue and the locations of the stamp rally. Plus there are discounts to major attractions. http://www.surutto.com/ Stamp Rally Locations: 1) Sheryl: Event Venue (in Hirapa)* 2) Ranka: Nyan-nyan Cafe (in Hirapa)* (each one of the following links to a handy access map) 3) Minmei: Animate Nipponbashi: http://www.animate.c...st/nipponbashi/ 4) VF-1J: Animate Hirakata: http://www.animate.c..._west/hirakata/ 5) VF-25: Animate Kyoto: http://www.animate.c...hop_west/kyoto/ *: #1&2 each require entrance fees.
  15. Officially: 12.23 (due to the Happy Monday System or something like that, 12.24 becomes the replacement holiday.) 01.01 Effectively: most businesses are closed 12.29 to 01.03. HOWEVER, 01.01 is Japan Post's busiest day of the year, and everyone gets mail from 01.01 to 01.03. http://en.wikipedia....lidays_in_Japan

Careful. Lack of arm shield doesn't mean lack of PPB. There are precedents for this in Macross: the Kwadorun series and the Ghost X-9 and it's derivatives. In other words - radomes are intrinsically light. Transformation is something that one can suspend one's belief over (all the more so if there are little to no aerodynamic concerns - they are big kites after all).

Missile launchers are heavy (forget about the servos, waldos and hydraulics of the launch mechanism, missiles are heavy!). RADOMES have been around for years... on real planes. Or, let's put it this way: how many real-world aircraft have you seen with a big 2x4 on the roof?

I'd say that the YF-29 is overarmed... not sure about the specifications for the YF-29A (or B) that appeared in the game, but the descriptions of the one in the movie pretty much state that it's extremely expensive/difficult to create and is pretty much a one off (that's specifically in reference to the high-purity fold quartz and the gee-whiz fold wave special powers it has). Interesting. As a derivative of the YF-24 Evolution, one would think they would've kept the hip guns... though chest guns... intriguing. I'm glad that they're moving away from that... though, it's replacement missile launcher is also disagreeable. It looks like the underarms are extended - perhaps they can be considered built-in shields? Fully agreed. Even the over-the-top VF-1 FAST packs look aerodynamic and sturdy in comparison. Air friction concerns aside, how does that dinky ball joint even hold the launcher up? I would say that it's a step forward. With the pre-YF-24 VFs, the trend was for internal missiles launchers, generally located around the engine nacelle. The VF-27 continued that trend (albeit in the secondary engine nacelles). I would take it as a sign that engine technology has further improved and there's an apparent micronization of the engine components for equal or greater output. Of course... in-universe, the engines of the YF-24/VF-25/VF-27/YF-29 could've been perceived as too powerful, and the engines could have a reduced performance, thus freeing up space in the engine nacelle...

The wings are there... albeit, in the angle and pose, they're mostly hidden by the arm.
  21. Interesting. It looks quite similar to the one that comes with the VF-27 for it's gun pod.

About the same chance as characters like Aegis Focker and the Milky Dolls had.
  23. ? Your logic eludes me. In general, governments tend to publicize changes to the law, and those publicity campaigns tend to be at their strongest during the month immediately preceding the rule change. Zero interest in getting a criminal record is the main reason. Lack of interest, though logical sounding, probably isn't a factor - given the interest indicated in this very topic, IMHO...
  24. Correct. Fixed the original post. Wonder where the 13 came from... 2013 perhaps?
