Me, too. Enemy At the Gates wasn't so much a documentary of the battle per se, but of the duel between two legendary snipers. And the one thing that that movie hammers home is that sniping is a tactic that requires patience.

ER/RM++ Project: Timeline 14A: The Macross Returns: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtimeline/Timeline14A.php - slapped up in PHP. Some changes in the revised edition - mainly clarifications and simplifications of who is doing what to whom. Complete: Gallery: 7: Macross 7: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRgallery/7.php - another foldout gallery sheet. Dare I say the space could've been better used with a new Tenjin-san painting? Mechanic: Zero UN 07A: CVN-99 Asuka II: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/ZEROun07aCVN-99AsukaII.php - slapped up in PHP. No difference between the 2 versions, but I've revised parts of the translation to make it more comprehensible.

ER/RM++ Project: History Zero 02A: The Struggle For The Birdman: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRhistory/Zero02AStruggleForTheBirdman.php - there's some stuff that does provide an interesting - and logical - in-universe explanation for what some deem "ret-cons". Episode: M06A: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross Eps. 6 "Daedalus Attack": http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/M06ABeps6.php - pinpoint barrier girls and the Daedalus Attack. 'nuff said. On top of that we also get the origin of the "Asteroid Cracker" that appeared in Macross The First. Nice! Episode: 710A: Macross 7 Eps. 10 "Deep Ballad": http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/710ABeps10.php - not sure if the MP dude was worthy of a paragraph, but the stuff on the Pink Pecker Force is gold.

ER/RM++ Project: Mechanic: SDFM UN 02A: VF-1J Valkyrie: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/SDFMun02AVF-1J.php - did some parts that caught my eye. Nothing really new in it, but I am finding it interesting that the revised edition is making a number of small amendments that essentially make the information a bit more specific (adding last names, dates when an indicated event occurs, etc.). Worldguide 15A: Macross 7 Fleet: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRworldguide/15AMacross7Fleet.php - related matter is fairly obvious to anyone who watched the series, however getting specific numbers for the fleet as well as a broader idea of the Stealth Frigate variations is nice.

Aliens: Colonial Marines morphs into Isolation
sketchley replied to Dobber's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Bad press is still good publicity... The same goes for "Sim City (2013)". The fiasco of its release was in the headlines for more than a month after it was released... and its arguably even worse than A:CM!- 216 replies

That, and he became a pilot because there wasn't a lot of options left for replacement in the populace aboard the Macross during its return voyage - Kakizaki has the same explanation (he's a little overweight for a pilot).

THERE. And unlike the VF-25F display in Hirapa, this one isn't going to break the bank when I go with the kids. Over the years, I've translated bits and pieces of the books. See links here: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/OTvfmf.php I'd really like to do the VF-3000 in the VF-0 book and some of the modelling descriptions in the VF Modelling Manual - but I'm quite swamped with Macross Chronicle these days...

FB7 doesn't exist! (speaking seriously: it's that whole "what we're seeing is an in-universe fictionalized retelling of the *real* events". Which makes FB7 that much more bizarre, as it's a fictional series watching another fictional series... and it gets no where close to doing something profound like breaking the 4th wall, let alone actually having the cast of the respective shows interact and exchange meaningful dialogue...)

True, but then it raises such questions as: are Zentraadi (Meltrandi) genes stronger than human genes? Are the kids wearing contact lens? Did the kids get genetically modified to remove any vision impairment? Going by Kawamori-san's insistence that each Macross series is compartmentalized from the others, then yes, Exedore always looked the way he did in whatever series he appears in. However, Macross Chronicle (and I believe most of the rest of the world) has placed emphasis on the TV series as the main continuity. As such, the differences in his appearance in SDFM and M7 need to be explained - and their explanation actually solves the design disparity between the 3 incarnations (SDFM is his original appearance. M7 is the appearance that he manipulated his genes into producing, and DYRL is the in-universe theatrical embellishment of his M7 appearance.

Interesting idea. The dialogue change doesn't quite work, simply because in the context of the movie, its something new that hasn't previously been introduced in the movie/series. Though, come to think of it, you've essentially "reset" the concept of the jedi back to how they were depicted in the original trilogy, before been mucked up by the prequels*. * in the sense of Jedi not ever really being defined, and Obi and Yoda dealing in absolutes as a means to train Luke, not a lifestyle choice.

Partial: Timeline 13A: First Contact: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtimeline/Timeline13A.php - no major changes between the 2 versions... Complete: Character Zero AUA 03A: Anti Unification Alliance Soldiers: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRcharacter/ZeroAua03AauaSoldiers.php - cleaned up and edited the translation, so it should be a bit more comprehensible. The "big" change in the 2 versions is the addition of the last names of the protagonists...

Complete! Heroine Gallery: Ranka Lee x YF-29 / Sheryl Nome: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRheroine/HeroineGalleryMF.php#RankaLeeYF-29 - Ranka looks alright (nothing to write home about), and Sheryl's "new" art looks like something straight from the 1st movie's publicity wagon... text is recycled, too. Mechanic: TF SMS 02A: VF-25F/TW1 Tornado Valkyrie: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/TFsms02aVF25TornadoValkyrie.php - finally able to get around to this sheet. I never liked the Tornado Valkyrie, but this sheet goes a long way in describing the limitations of the Tornado Pack. Still don't like it, but at least its quite a bit less munchkin than I first thought.

There's no info other than what we see in the TV series (and that would be SDFM and MF).

But then, why would he need glasses when he was returned to micron size in M7? Ah, nevermind that, as it opens a can of worms about what is the "real" Macross - and this is despite MC clarifying the shape of Exedore's head in M7 (apparently one can manipulate one's DNA in the process. BUT Max still needs glasses...)

The SDFM version, of course! For starters, it set the bar very high for all future anime (if you've seen "Otaku No Video" you'll understand). On top of that, the scene is essential for the overall story, concluding both story arcs leading up to it, and creating new ones following it. The DYRL version, though excellently animated, can arguably be removed without much effect to the overall story of the movie. In fact, it leads to the one, great WTF moment of the movie: Max being turned into a giant and instantly knowing how to pilot a Zentraadi battlesuit! Nevermind the instant healing of Miria's combat wounds...

ER/RM++ Project: Episode: 709A: Macross 7 Eps. 9 "Angel Night": http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/709ABeps9.php - interesting stuff. Not exactly stuff that can't be inferred, mind you. Episode: II 01A: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II -Lovers Again- Episode 1 "Contact": http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/II01ABeps1.php - the editor's commentary is quite positive, isn't it? That said, there are a few gems (Seito, you still with us?) and the sheet finally provides an explanation for the wonky electrical discharges coming from the Macross.

New and Weird Topics of Late....
sketchley replied to Kicker773's topic in MW Site News & Member Feedback
It could just be the phase you're going through with MW: First comes the "wow, cool" (some could call it "newbie"), then comes the "post honeymoon" phase (one is more experienced, knows the rules, and can't help and be involved as much as possible because things are still wow). You're in the "darkest before the dawn phase" (the wow part is diminished, and all the flaws and cracks are noticeable and annoying), then comes the "mellow" phase (one is a mature member, who only replies to (and dare I say read?) what one deems worthy). -
ER/RM++ Project: Worldguide 06A: Military Manufacturers: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRworldguide/06aMilitaryManufacturers.php - the parts that I did completely lived up to expectations. Dare I say that this is a custodial sheet and present only for the "completeness" it adds to the MC?

ER/RM++ Project Complete!: Technology 17A: EX-Gear (Extender Gear): http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtechnology/17aEX-Gear.php - As I was only planning on doing the extra reports, the fact that I completed it should testify how interesting I found the sheet! The sheet goes a long way in rounding out the EX-Gear mechanic sheet. There are, of course, areas that need to be embellished further, but that's what the second sheet is for, eh?

It could just be the people reaping the financial rewards for the movies behind it. This is what... the third official version of the ending? It's almost an industry unto itself. There's no way they're going to resolve things and deprive themselves of future profit...
