Spiral War: Academy is ready for purchase
Knight26 replied to Knight26's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I fixed the "ad poster" in the first post. V7 I still carry a small notebook all the time for when I get story ideas, that or a little voice recorder are great for just putting down ideas. Also once I find out how long it takes them to ship the book(s) I will start taking preorders for Macrossworld-Con, that way I will have a drop dead date on preorders so I can make sure I have enough in hand for the convention. I will of course sign any sold at the convention. -

It "should" be up for sale by this weekend, providing of course that I get my proof copy then, right now the kindle version is available. I will update when the hard copy is up. -
Spiral War: Academy is ready for purchase

It is really good actually, if your stuff is ready to go and well editted then the biggest hassle is just the marketting. I would recommend that with create space that you shell out the $40.00 to get the premium package, it gets you more in royalties then the standard package and allows you to sell at a lower price, which I may do depending on the response. And with Kindle it is an automatic 35% of list price no matter what they sell it at, so if your list price is $10 you are garunteed $3.50 even if they sell the book for less, which they are doing right now. I've actually already sold 3 kindle copies so far. Right now I am just waiting on my proof copy to approve it and then the hard copy will go on sale. Also another nice thing is that if I buy copies to sell myself, I buy them at a far reduced and can sell them at list or less and basically take home the rest as profit. -

Thanks Phyrox, guess that is what happens when I do it in Visio at work, will have to clean it up in Photoshop later and replace it. Glad that it didn't do that on the actual book cover at least. -

Terminator Salvation, colon, Really Long Movie Title
Knight26 replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Alternate universes are the tools of poor writers, a good writer with a tight story can write a good casual loop story without plotholes that require such poor tools. The original Terminator was such a story, all those that have followed have just created more and more holes. -
Well it is typical PLAAF fair, they stole a nice design, the IAI Lavi, and made a bastardized version of it with their own hardware. The intake bulge is probably their version of the inlet bulge developed for the F-35, a version of which was tested on the F-16 as a proof of concept, it is a stealth feature.

My boys will, and starting next year each of them, upon hitting the christmas after their seventh birthday will get to pick any valk they want to be theirs. But, it will be kept in a safe place until they can show that they will care for it and not immediately destroy it. My oldest right now really wants either a VF-19Kai, my 1:48 Hikaru VF-1J, or a Millia VF-1J, he loves red valks.
-
That doesn't jive with the screen evidence though. What we see on screen is that spock arrives just too late to save romulus and is immediately attacked by Nero and his ship.
-
Well if people hate their YF-19s so much I will be more then happy to give them a good home.

Just ignore this SJO, his life is empty so he fills it with toys. *rant time* What this conversation/topic is really about is priorities. Years ago, back when the 1:48 were the new hotness there was a member who was talking about forgoing a car payment or two in order to buy the latest 1:48 releases. We all adviced him against it, but he went ahead anyway because his bank had some kind of skip a pay thing on the loan, thing is he still had to make up that payment later because had already used it earlier in the year, IIRC. What we tried to tell him then was prioritize his needs and his wants. He wanted the newest 1:48 VF, he needed his car to get around, to work, to food, etc... Throughout life we have to make choices, some are sacrifices, some are not. Before I got married I bought a ton of valkyries. Since then I have bought only two that I really wanted, my wife and I sat down, looked at the budget and said ok, you can buy this $200 toy after paycheck X. More often then not though I decided not to buy the toy, why? Because I had more important uses for the money, like kids, my wife, my house, my cars, whatever. Does that make me co-dependant, no it makes me a responisble husband and father. Now if I see an amazing deal on a valk or other item I want, I check the budget real quick and snatch it up, but that is a luxury, and sometimes luxuries have to take a back seat. Right now I would love to go out and buy all the Mac+ valks, but I have had to put that off for a while. Why? Easy I have better priorities, I am not going to give up something essential, especially now that we are on a single income, just to buy a pretty toy that will sit on a shelf and collect dust. My youngest is special needs, he needs his mommy home all the time to take care of him, and his medical bills take priority, heck the whole families medical bills take priority over daddies new toy. So, if you are trading one luxury for another fine, forego the overpriced pants, belt, and shoes in favor of the toy/model/TV/computer/whatever, but never give up the essentials and more important things in life just to buy something that is a WANT, not a NEED. Jeans are jeans, get the costco brand or the factory seconds, they are just as good and cost half as much, and a belt is just a strip of leather or clothe that holds your pants up, why spend a lot for it when no one cares. And, if the people you hang with get hung up on that stuff, then maybe you should find some better people to hang with. *Rant over*

Hot chicks, nicely done costumes, I approve. Crappy PLAAF aircraft, ugh, can someone get these hotties to a better air museum for another photo shoot?

Gorgeous, and if you could rescale and modify it a little bit then I could see it becoming a fully variable armored system. Basically seperate the nose and chest armor peices so that the chest piece can move down with the rest and make the canards fold to let the legs passed and you've got it. One critique though. Your sensor placement. The small sensor dish is almost completely blocked by the fighter and the FAST packs, maybe it can extend further out, but right now it limits the amount of coverage it will have. Also, the armor over the nose basically just killed your radar, unless it has its own seperate radar, that overrides the other when it is attached.

Dollhouse (new series by Joss Whedon)
Knight26 replied to sharky's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I revise my earlier assessment of Topher. I think he is not a doll, just the person who helped to develop the latest level of active tech. I do think that he and whiskey/saunders have a history prior to them entering the dollhouse, their scenes in the finale all but confirm that. I don't think they were lovers, but I bet they were at least friends, maybe siblings or cousins, and he was working there first when she found about it and was forced to become a doll. I also think that her original personnality is probably something close to what we saw him turn sierra into for an episode. -
The file is less then a MB and doesn't even have the whole intro.
