  1. Agree on both. Essentially, energy is life in a space battle. And in addition to the limited stores of energy, just how many systems can you run at once before it taxes your ship's/ fighter's systems? I know they are robust, but sooner or later, you're going to have overheating, competition of computer processing power, demands on already-used energy conduits, etc. At this point, I think something called "strategy" and another called "tactics" come into play...
  2. UPDATE: Got the seats built and installed; need to keep the bottoms relatively flat or Batman's ears will get clipped by the canopy when it closes: Got the fins done, and most overall construction. Still a few things to "button up", but most structural stuff is done (save for the slide joint for the canopy): And...a little sneak preview for everyone on the next step (currently underway): Stay tuned folks... atomic batteries to power, turbines to speed...
  3. *Imagines Macross Galaxy staff playing hopscotch using pages from Unity Law book*
  4. Butt joints? Or, pain in the butt joints? :p
  5. Okay...that makes sense. So they pretty much used the already-extant research, then just went that one extra step that nobody else would take and didn't tell anyone.
  6. Going to give Macross II a run; it's been a while and I'm feeling a bit nostalgic... Then after that, thinking about Cowboy Bebop and then The BIg O...
  7. Okay... so working on that then: basically, the BDI was intended for military use, but someone got the bright idea to see what other "applications" it could be used for, and introduced this into a fleet that was distant from any supervision other than those involved in implementing it? And they fed a line of guff to the home office to keep them happy, while turning the population of the fleet into their version of the Matrix?
  8. Really appreciate your take on this. Meantime, would it be out of line to infer that the YF-21 project's brain-direct systems at least contributed to the Galaxy's activities in their fleet involving their peopel?
  9. Let me put it this way: I think they took some heavy cues from Guld Goa Bowman's Brain Direct Imaging and Control systems for the YF-21. No one permits the development of that kind of tech without considering "other ways" it could be utilized, and not always in a "family friendly way" if you catch my meaning. If corporations are anything in that timeline like they are now, ascribing any sense of responsibility to them outside of the bare minimum they need to stay out of trouble is unwise. Doubly so when they feel they can skirt whatever oversight a government may have on them. So no: I don't "snort" when it's only been about 27 years (not long for a company that experiences in artificial bodies, mind-altering cybernetic implants and "augmented reality"). The players in the game may come and go or change during the game, but GG's long game is not a recent thing (especially given that "Lady M" is purported to have had something to do with the SDF-2 Megaroad and the circumstances surrounding its' disappearance.
  10. Thinking about the "SV" series... I didn't realize that other variable fighters had become that much of an issue to the UNS/ NUNS? Or is this more of General Galaxy's behind the curtain dealings that resulted in abominations like the Macross Galaxy fleet's enslavement of their population? Either way...really starting to not like GG.
  11. Thanks; I had to do that with Revel's F-14 model as well. In a few places, the parts didn't line up well at all.
  12. I agree with Seto, and would like to add my own commentary: Things like "warp drive", "hyperdrive", "jump space" and "subspace" are all differing methods of using a higher/ lower space to that effect. With warp drive, it's creating a bubble of "subspace" around the ship that behaves differently than normal space, allowing superluminal flight. Hyperdrive is just the same thing really, and "jumps" (BSGR) would be more like fold ops in Macross. A fold fault (at least the way I understand it) is an intense, localized distortion that is most likely distorting multiple higher/lower layers and dimensions to the point of manifesting into real space ("A Fold Fault (フォールド断層 Fōrudo Dansō) is a phenomenon that interferes with the physical dimension (real space/three dimensional space", https://macross.fandom.com/wiki/Fold_Fault ), preventing any ships/ craft using fold from performing safe fold ops there. It's kind of like trying to use a different road to get around a sinkhole, but the sinkhole is making the ground under all the possible routes in that immediate area impassable.
  13. Thanks Thom! BTW: who makes the kit you're building?
  14. So they had everything they needed (sans competent showrunners) and still managed to disappoint us. Thanks for putting up with my comments and helping me understand what happened with this.
  15. Yeah, there is that (sometimes I forget the extent to which the Zentraedi were kept socially and creatively crippled). I was also venturing that they had never encountered a ship like the post-rebuild Macross before.
  16. I guess that would explain the Zentraedi's apparent bewilderment at the modifications done to the ASS-1/ Macross. One can only imagine what the Protoculture would have made of human ingenuity....
  17. Okay, perhaps visualizes was the wrong word to use here by me. I agree with what you've said here; this series just didn't feel like Cowboy Bebop, and the things that made it appealing just got watered down or changed in the mix. All of that said: I really am feeling now that letting western productions do any takes on anime is probably a really bad idea, given their tendency to screw it up with their own ideas. As for Jet: I always felt he was mixed race (Black/Caucasian or some other mix). He didn't particularly strike me as black per se.
  18. UPDATE: Start of canopy: Dashboard and cockpit (will start seats soon): Wheels- I built these up from broken axles using tape, cardboard and packing twine in layers (best I could do...money is so short right now that once I run out of tape that's it for the year.) Canopy under construction: Batman in car with canopy on: Will progress on this as long as I can. Stay tuned...
  19. And IMO, that makes them just as bad (if not worse) than the Protoculture that enslaved the Zentraedi. Instead of simply denying them feelings and lives, they are actively stealing those lives while making them think they are living them. No true say in their lives, no way to depart it (at least until an outside force ends it, a permanent enthrallment to GG), being treated as little more than expendable lab-rats and slave labor, and exposed to unconscionable cruelty. And they want to inflict that on the entire human race!
  20. My pleasure I'm just happy to help a fellow MW member in need!
