Must have gone to the Star Trek School of Greeblies (U.S.S. Stargazer)...

Typically, steel does tend to be more resilient than aluminum at scale; it's one of the strongest metals out there per se. As for bluing, you could always heat it until it turned blue. :D

Right? I'd love to try the Storm Attacker one and see how it would turn out!

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!
pengbuzz replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
Did UN Spacy try to replicate the satellite after repairing/ restoring it (as in, build more of them)? If so, that would explain the Three-Star Heavy Industry Factory Ships in the New Macross Colony Fleets. -
One thing I do is make note of the transformation on my customs; I will make a diagram of all three modes with areas prone to scratch circled and notated. For example: on the VF-1 chunkies, the nose where the swing bar locks into place is ripe for scratches. To combat that, I use a paint like Krylon Fusion or Rustoleum "Painters Touch 2x" that actually bond to the plastic. I will also use the same clear coat as the Krylon or Rustoleum so I don't get formula conflicts (some paints don't play well with one another), and let the clear dry for 2-3 days before doing anything. Sanding: I use caution on sanding parts for "clearance", simply because some parts like the chunky's swing bar need that friction to lock into place. Examine how that part of the transform works and what you'd need to make it work with paint. In some cases, I will leave a part the plastic color and find a way to work it into the paint job as to not cause issues.

Wish i could find one; I could use the gun pod...

Sorry, but that reminds me of this scene: "Five is right out!" That would be scary; if they could do that with ships and armament, then couple it with cloning tech, they'd have the ability to challenge Zentraedi Main Battle Fleets. Talk about restarting the Protoculture Wars...

You could "knock down" the overall brightness of that engine nozzle with a slight dark metallic wash, followed by some drybrushing with alternating base-color metallics (gunmetal) and a very fine drybrushing with a lightened near-silver drybrushing. It doesn't look too bad now, just kinda obvious; a slight revision with what I mentioned would make it look better, I think. Overall, incredible job, Peter! Your paintwork looks better than mine! lol My latest project: another custom Transformer- On that note, I threw Maverick's Tomcat into Photoshop: (probably should have thrown it out while I was at it!)

Hey, it's all good! Just my 2 cents worth (for what weight it carries!) And the control panels are made of Explodiumâ„¢ Imagine the NUNS trying to do this with armaments for their forces...

Wish I could find just the Ten Kings' (Blazing) Sword for my Voltron, but I don't think anyone sells that separately (at least, not for a price I could afford!).

When Seto Kaiba examined my self-produced Variable fighter kitbash, he and I had a discussion about how quickly things can get cramped when you start trying to get missiles and a gunpod in the same space at the same time. In addition to the transfer and launch mechanisms for the missiles, you need telemetry feeds to them to get data prior to launch (part of the launch mechanism, admittedly), systems to handle the exhaust gases from firing the missiles (so they don't get inadvertently vented into a pylon or strut and burn a wing off or a hole through the fuselage), braces and data/ control links for the gunpod(s) to fire from within the craft, launch/recovery mechanisms for said gunpod, etc. So even with an external pallet, it still has to maintain aerodynamic profiles, structural integrity in attaching to the craft, not get in the way of the transformation, and be jettisonable when needed. That's a lot of stuff to cram in, in addition to the missiles and gun pod(s), internal or otherwise.

That's why whenever I go to a convention to see the people who've played those roles, I'll try to research not only the other stuff they've done, but what projects they might be doing now (many will post that on their blogs or other venues). I have to say: it's never failed to amaze them when I bring those up, and they almost always seem to light right up! Actors are people too, and I cannot blame Mari Iijima for how she feels.

Believe me; I wish I did!

Hasegawa seems to have issues with heir plastic (found this out personally when trying to build a 1/72). Suggestions for you battroid: 1) I would drill those arm pins out and replace them with ABS. 2) Glue the lower ring back into place, then reinforce with a plate of styrene or ABS, then redrill the hole and remount the joint. 3) Get a nice stiff drink for the both of us bro; just had to remove a thumbprint from the paint job I just busted my can trying to redo. O.o

Yeah; the places like Odd Lots (now Big Lots), Railroad Salvage and other discount clearance places had literal tons of them. Now, I can hardly find any. I cannot even find "Code 007 Iron Monarch (G1 Megatron KO)" without it being as expensive on Ebay as the real one! And the Convertors series had some really good ones that I would make into Autobots or Decepticons as I needed them. I remember those: they were the M.A.R.S. Convertors- This particular one was the basis I used to build my custom MP Leader-1 (Go-Bots)- Sadly, even those are gone. But like you, I fervently hope one day, all of them return.

Or you can use 2000 grit sandpaper and toothpaste to polish off the super glue.
