  1. Dunno what everyone's going on about right now, but as far as the movie goes, I saw it the other day and it very much does not veer into this specific territory. She wins more battles than she loses because she kind of has to for the movie to work, but her character gets thrown around more than she does the throwing. I kept falling asleep in the beginning, partly because it was slow going but mainly because I had gotten up for a matinee and was still tired. The action is as well-choreographed as anything you'd see from John Wick, though the style of it is obviously different. Less "ruthlessly efficient killing" and more "fighting to survive." The story's... there. They frame the action within a spy thriller, which works well enough, I suppose. But it takes itself a bit too seriously. Like Metal Gear Solid without the intentional/unintentional camp. I enjoyed it while it lasted, like John Wick, but also like John Wick, it's one of those that I wouldn't care either way if I saw again or not.
  2. The only thing I DISLIKE about the Red Frame is the katana, ironically enough. It's oversized, just like all Gundam katanas are. I'd like the design more if it looked like it could actually unsheath that thing in a single motion.
  3. That part I was fine with. I suppose when I wrote "asskicker," I was thinking more generally of a character who wouldn't put up with any crap. I thought she could have grown into a nice mix between Arad and Messer, a kind of no-nonsense, mission-oriented and capable mission leader. The thing at the end of the series with everyone confessing to everyone really just... ugh. She deserved better than what she got.
  4. Evangelion 1.0 - generally same as the anime, up to Ramiel fight (pyramid Angel, super-laser, Operation Yashima) Evangelion 2.0 - diverges more heavily from anime, Third Impact begins and ends after Zeruel fight Evangelion 3.0 - Nerv (Gendo, Rei, Kaworu) vs. Wunder (Misato, Asuka, new Eva girl), Shinji plays a piano, Fourth Impact happens ...I'm fuzzy on that last one, I didn't pay too much attention to it owing to it tunneling so very far up its own ass.
  5. I knew I'd heard about them announcing something, but I must have mistook it for the Reactive Armor kit or... something. Good to know, hopefully it's a new tooling instead of reusing the Yamato one. (Wasn't their VF-0 basically a Yamato reissue? I forget...)
  6. Sub or dub? I recommend dub. It's phenomenal, one of the very few dubs I watch.
  7. *whimper* I shouldn't have asked. Now I want one... That's because it was designed by Yoji Shinkawa. He really likes that head shape; he started using it with ZoE and has been putting it into his mecha designs since. Metal Gear Ray has a similar head, and his original design for Frame Arms, the Byakko, also shares that look: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10465646
  8. Must just have been my imagination, then. Oh well. Mirage was ALMOST an asskicker, but then...
  9. 1.) Were you able to play the three downloaded games before you recopied them? 2.) Do you have enough space on your memory stick for the fourth game (Sega Genesis Collection)? 3.) You might have to reformat your memory stick on your PSP and/or update the firmware on both consoles. 4.) Custom firmware is definitely something you should look into. 5.) Also PPSSPP, the PSP emulator. I think it's developed to the point that there are Android/iPhone ports, so you can play your games on your mobile devices.
  10. Weren't the Aerial Knights originally supposed to be a boy band, back when this was still a show about competing aerobatics teams?
  11. Nice. You gotta snap some pics of that Nerv Eva-Godzilla. That thing looks so frickin' cool. The SS/G isn't piloted by Setsuna, right? Or at all, really, if I remember correctly. It was simulation data, same as the Full Saber Quanta, from whatever that side story was. 00V, I think.
  12. Can anyone explain this? While we're at it, can anyone explain Marina and Pearl in general? I keep hearing about some contest going back to the first game... EDIT: Also this, because it's hilarious.
  13. I was done with it, but you kept bringing it back up. Like, insistently responding directly to me. And this being a discussion thread, I assumed that meant you wanted to keep discussing it. But that ship's sailed. There's not much more I could or would say on the matter, anyway. I'm done if you are. Cheers, mate.
  14. Even up through the YF-30 there were yellowing issues. I remember seeing just such a toy selling on here for fairly cheap because of it. I wonder if it's just something within manufacturing tolerances and sometimes there's just a bad batch. I mean, the obvious solution is to paint it, but I can't imagine how much more premium the prices would become...
  15. While we're on the subject of HG and frivolous lawsuits: (EDIT: I know that HG talk is generally frowned upon, so if any mod feels this is crossing the line, feel free to delete.)
  16. I'm not, necessarily. My original opinion was in regards to someone or other talking about how they were put off by the fanservice in Frontier, which I agreed with, adding that aside from being too onesided, it [the sex humor] was also not very funny and downright boring. I would like to see the new series be less onesidedly fanservice-y, whether that's by way of cranking down the overall Perverted Camera level or cranking it up for the guy characters as much as it does for the girls. If I got snippy (which I admit I did), it's because I was responding to Podtastic in particular, who hasn't been engaging in the discussion and instead only been quoting me in order to be dismissive. I was ready to move on, as the rest of the thread seemed to be, but well, they apparently wanted to keep talking about it. The one thing I remember hearing about the manga (well, one of them, at any rate) is that Ranka really REALLY loves Brera...
  17. Why not? The franchise is already closer to that than it originally was.
  18. I agree. Delta does dole out fanservice more evenhandedly than even Frontier, which itself was already above average in terms of catering to its female audience. I said earlier that one thing (of the few things) I liked about Delta was that the members of Walkure aren't often sexualized aside from when they're performing sexy for their job. And as you and Master Dex point out, the pretty boy ratio is rather high, and... yeah, that Roid/Keith stuff. I'm sure SOMEBODY must be shipping some sort of tsundere love there.
