  1. Yeah, there was quite a few things in there that interested me, but nothing that I was chomping at the bit to get. I honestly think I'll find something more "I NEED THAT RIGHT NOW" once the sci-fi stuff goes on sale. I did buy a MG Force Impulse, though, mostly for the eventual Stargazer conversion kit that I'll get the instant I get the chance.
  2. No one's gonna mention the giant frakk-off tank absolutely dwarfing the planes and teeming with Panzer-chans?
  3. Came across this, figured some of you might be interested. GFFMC Unicorn Gundam Final Battle Ver. 21,250 JPY Bonus credit: 1,063 JPY https://hlj.com/product/BANN07982/Gun EDIT: And Phenex: https://hlj.com/product/BANN04114/Gun

    Bandai DX VF-31

Oh, okay, use a card. Got it. I've just been having them deduct from my bank account. That'll save me so much in the long run. Thanks so much!
  5. Ah, I see. Yes, the blue super packs do look not half bad on the 31F. Also, you people and your three of each. LAWD HELP ME.
  6. I'd say the Hi-Res caters to decidedly shounen aesthetics, whereas the original EW redesign caters a lot to shoujo tastes. The proportions are especially telling, very bishounen. Spot on. The Wing Zero goes through a WHOLE BUNCH of design revisions in the manga, starting from the Proto Zero design, gradually turning into angel feathers Wing Zero, and from there a few more revisions to look similar to how it does here. This model bulks up the design significantly, though. (Someone with more knowledge than me explains it in greater detail halfway down this post.)

    Bandai DX VF-31

Is there a way to NOT use Paypal's conversion and leave the conversion up to your bank? It used to be an option but I haven't been able to do it for at least a year now.
  9. Are there not going to be separate-colored packs for each VF?
  10. It's confirmed. Full "line" is "Gundam Fix Figuration Metal Composite feat. Metal Build."
  11. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Television special effects have been perfectly serviceable since like the mid-2000s. It would be slightly difficult to pull off more kinetic dogfight sequences like "What Planet is This!?" or "Road to the West," but hardly impossible on a decent-ish television budget. This isn't Macross we're talking about.
  12. It'd have to be more than just American and Japanese, but I get the point. The original show took many elements from Native America and the Middle East, as well. Isn't Death Note already coming out as a Netflix show? I could've sworn there was a trailer for it already. EDIT: Movie, apparently, due out August 25 on Netflix.
  13. You da real mvp. Dang, I didn't realize that. I wondered why his last post was back in December.
  14. I'd agree, but I'm fairly certain Bandai does all of its model-making in Japan. Could be wrong, though. I think it'd be easier to make that argument for something like their Robot Damashii line, which I believe IS made in China. Though the cheapness of RD kind of deters knock-offs in its own way...
  15. I think you might be right.
  16. Some fans speculated that Daban, TT Hongli, and other Chinese KO companies that started producing KO Gundam kits in the late 00s-early 10s were Chinese arms of Bandai itself, selling "KO" kits that were simply product that had failed to meet quality control standards to be a legit Bandai kit. They based this opinion on a sudden major jump in quality of the knock-off kits: They had gone from horribly imprecise copies with terrible fitment issues to being nearly as good as the real thing. That is, of course, highly unlikely. It's way more likely that third parties simply got better at manufacturing. Better 3D scanning/modeling software, better molding technology, etc. Better tools to KO with.
  17. Oh, okay. Thanks so much. Yeah, it sure is a beauty. I wanted to find out as much about it as I could the moment I laid eyes on it. I seem to recall a member on here did a build (or three or a hundred) for VF-1 Riders; they mentioned being rushed for time because they had to get it to the convention and set up. I forget who, but oh well. Thanks again.
  18. What is/are it/they? A Macross modeling club? I remember someone on here mentioning being part of it...? I saw pictures of their/his/her/whatever stuff at Shizuoka, and the "YF-19-3 <kanji><kanji>(Block 2)" immediately caught my eye. I saw in another picture it was labeled "YF-19-3 Ariel Club" and "VF-19 Ariel Club." Anyone know what that's about? The girl decal looked to me a bit like Sharon Apple.
  19. I can appreciate that perspective. Having built many a Gundam kit over the years and experienced the highs and lows of greater and greater articulation at the expense of "accuracy" to the source material, I've come to appreciate a model that just sits there and looks good. Hopefully this one does.
  20. Finally bit the bullet and bought this. Double points for being my first ever anime character statue. Now just waiting on shipping charges.
  21. ^ Drawing comparisons to GitS isn't totally apt, though. GitS was an adaptation in the form of a single movie, not a television serial. If this were a movie production, I'd be as dismissive as everyone else, but the fact that they're going for a TV show makes me just the slightest bit curious. A TV show is the absolute best way they could have possibly gone, so they're starting off on the right foot at least.
  22. I wouldn't worry too much if you can't get the initial batch. Bandai tends to re-release popular kits pretty regularly (as opposed to their strategy for figures) until their popularity wanes. The Hi-Res Barbatos is still seeing fairly regular reproduction runs.
  23. I'm surprised at the blowback to this. I saw this, immediately thought of Firefly, and was like "Yep, this has the potential to be good." I mean, Cowboy Bebop certainly lends itself more readily to a live-action adaptation TV adaptation than GitS does. It has more potential to be good, though I'm still skeptical that it will be.
  24. This I would buy in an instant. It also reminds me to buy the Figuarts Zero figure of her ASAP.
  25. I thought the 3DS release was just an update of an earlier game? I didn't watch the Direct, but from secondhand accounts: - Pokken Tournament releasing on Switch with new characters - Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon (re?)releasing for 3DS with new characters/features - Pokemon Gold and Silver releasing on 3DS Virtual Console with new characters/features (they were originally Game Boy games?) Is that about right? I don't play/follow Pokemon, so I dunno.
