Silly Mospeeder fan (yeah, I'm makin' fun of someone by writing the name wrong), you have Rey from MOSPEADA fighting Corg from Robotech The New Generation. Go outside and hit yourself with a paddle a few times in front of your neighbors as punishment. Besides, you got my boy all wrong. Rey never fights Batra (RT's Corg), he fights some blonde Inbit and royally hoses the guy but the animation isn't all that wonderful for it. I LOVE the sounds of the huge shells of the Beta's gun nailing that sucker though. It's Stig that puts down Batra in the battle at the Reflex Point. That battle is also pretty lame from what you see on TV. It pretty much looks like Batra just flies by Stig who cleverly turns around and shoots him in the back. It also suffers some major pussy points from Houquet's being unable to blast Batra because of Rey. I think there's better mech action in the NY episode but I haven't watched the series in a while. My vote for best mech action? Clearly it's from Macross 7. It's that scene where all the VF-11s fly out and then blow-up. That scene's so great I'm pretty sure they put it in every episode! Kidding aside, right now I'm diggin' Macross Zero. Maybe the first scene we see Focker doin' damage. Milia crushin' head in DYRL and using bodies for shields was pretty cool too. EDIT - TYPOS

Was lookin' on EBay and found an auction with this pic: Notice this artwork shows that same upswept nose everyone complains the Toynami Alpha has... I wonder if the origins for Toynami's "arched-back" syndrome actually began with their working with Imaii molds? Maybe that's just the way the Alpha is supposed to look...

In the world of the mute, the man who talks out his ass is king. Here, you're just driving an argument based on flawed logic into the ground. Next time I'm speaking Japanese you can tell me I'm saying "MOSPEADA" wrong; when I'm typing it in a forum you better bow down to the proper and internationally accepted spelling of it. Oh christ... isn't Anime just the french word for cartoon. Let's not get elitist with French words please, the French are already high enough on themselves as it is! (J/P you french MWers). First off, Kawamori could give a crap about RT using the term 'SDF'. If he didn't care about Macross II he's certainly not going to think RT is worth moving his bowels over. Second off, you're watching rough previews, HG has shown artwork for new mechs (if you really want something to complain about, you should check those out). Third off, if this is going to be MOSPEADA 2 in Japan then wouldn't it make sense for vehicles, like the SDF-3 and the like, to tie in to the vehicles that were in MOSPEADA. Timewise I think RT:SC is supposed to take place shortly after the ending of New Gen.

If that's directed toward me... yeah, I have. I would think it's safe to say that Yellow is certainly a main character. Does that make me think he should be femmed up on the cover of every DVD? Nah, not so much. Afterall, I would say he was portrayed more often as his masculine self than as his feminine counterpart.
-
Man, I'm gonna go take a sharpie to all my MOSPEADA merchandise now and correct it to Mospeeder. You think that'll hurt the value? Can we call this Mospeeder bit dead now? My further posts will be back on subject. I think they should redesign the hovertank to make it a more functional design and more in tune with what you see in Mospeada (not to say everything we see in Mospeada is more functional, just more in line with the art). That way there you could tie it to Southern Cross without jolting Mospeada fans.
-
Seriously, they got Yellow dressed as a chick on the cover of each DVD? Seems a little... um, odd. EDIT: Maybe he's not dressed as a chick... maybe he's just really glammed out. Still, where's the rest of the cast?
-
I got one for you, you Google "Mospeeder" and tell me how many hits you get then Google "MOSPEADA" and see how many hits you get. Me thinks you'll be changing your tune. From some fansite: MobileOperationSoldierProtectionEmergencyAviationDiveArmor I don't know about all that though.
-
They look to still be in early prototype mode. The plaque suggests 2006, I would think it means Xmas of 2006 at the earliest. I would love to be proven wrong though.
-
While the VF-1s would have to be removed I think they could leave Hovertanks in. At this point the VF-1 would be really dated (having been followed by the crapfest of airborne The Masters vehicles and then the airborne vehicles of The New Generation) so I think it makes sense not to have them in the show. With slight cosmetic updating the hovertank could look completely unique from the Spartas. Really though, even if you left it as a Spartas I don't think many Mospeada fans would care.
-
HAHAHA, he said "mospeeder" I am among the ones who think this will be MOSPEADA 2. 95% of the world will get RT SC, Japan will get MOSPEADA 2. It makes good economic sense.

A "super" vf-1 comes with fast packs (aka "super parts"). Max, Millia, and Hikaru have super versions. If you want the Strike cannon you have to buy "Strike/Super Parts" separately. YF-19 FP is vaporware. Apparently never gonna happen. I can't help you on reviews of the MPCs but you might try the MPC thread. If you're looking for differences between the versions. For the blue, green, and red the only difference is color and the head. Shadow has different hands, vents, gun and no VTOL thruster at the crotch.
-
Did the Beta have a tiny little head? I don't remember it having a head at all but the MPC seems to have one. All my art books are in storage so I can't exactly check.
-
Nah, if you're talking about the VF-1S MPCs they were up to at least 11k (I have one in that range) so there's probably only 3000 left hitting the stores. That's my guess at least. You can't tell if the front of the Beta in fighter mode has anything that resembles the top of a gun because of the way it's positioned. We will have to wait patiently until more pics arrive..

I gotta disagree with Skull Leader. It seems very irresponsible to me to go into production before having a screenplay.

I've heard it said repeatedly that no one has even the most remote suggestion of price just yet so I wouldn't put too much stock in the $200 price point. They haven't even figured out the linking mechanism or, likely, what percentage of the toy would be diecast. I do hear they're going to have a painted up prototype at the SDCC though.

Man, I used to have a display like this but those pods seem to take up SOOOOO much room. Then I decided to store them and when you put 'em back in their boxes they take up even more room. Still, I love action poses, I hope to have more in the future (but doubt it) -

There appears to be a hole on the reverse section of the crotch now where a piece of the destabilizer can fit into the back of the jet. The only other Alpha that even comes close is the 1/35 Gakken Alpha. Clearly it's the more sturdy toy and it's larger. The MPC has two major flaws: 1) Fit - you'll notice in several pictures the arms don't quite contract all the way in fighter mode or something just looks a little off somewhere. The tolerances weren't quite right when Toynami gave 'em the green light and as such you can find a flaw in the fit on pretty much every toy. NOTE 1: The fit flaw is usually quite small and is typically quite easily over-looked. NOTE 2: 99% of the time someone has an example of horrendous fit it's due to incomplete or incorrect transformation. This toy has Fit problems because it's really complicated and has many collapsing sections. All it takes is one small snag or one section not completely depressed to make the thing look horrible. 2) Build - Similar to fit but more serious. There are minor build quality issues such as slightly crooked heads and then there are major issues like fragile hands and loose joints. Some heads are more crooked than others, some have 100% tight joints, but all of them have fragile hands. If all the joints are tight, they can get loose... easily. In terms of build this thing doesn't hold a candle to the Gakken. So, what if you get one that has tight limbs, a pretty straight head, and snaps together nice and tight? You get these positives: 1) Detail. The Gakken has almost none. 2) Poseability. The Gakken has almost none (not that the MPC is incredibly limber but it's better) 3) Useless stuff. A plastic chunk that's supposedly a folded cyclone and missile bays that open. Don't forget rubber wheels on the landing gears. 4) Diecast. 5) Accuracy. Okay, this is a little more questionable on the Shadow Fighter but there's no Gakken to compare it to anyway. The other Alphas look truer to the anime. 6) A gun that clips to the wing. The sad thing about the Alpha is it's not a very sharp looker in fighter mode no matter what. That being said, you can really minimize how bad the arched back looks by transforming this thing properly (pain in the butt). If you manage that you'll also be able to put all the landing gears down with clearance for the chest. After that, there still is a bit of an illusion of an arch but you can only notice it from a dead side shot and it's not that noticeable... Edits - Ugh, typos, grammar, and spelling problems galore, I think i fixed most...

In my opinion, black or very dark toys have a real tendency to look lame in person and photograph even worse. I, for one, am expecting this Alpha to be just like the others I have. I can't imagine them somehow making it worse, and I don't see any reason why it would have been any better. I still defend the Alphas I have. Yeah, they could have been a million times better, just the same they're still the best Alpha that's been made to date... and I'm pretty sure I have every alpha/legioss in every variant that has been made to date (except the 1/55 green gakken triple changer).
-
Seriously though, the Dark Legioss had FAT anime magic going on. If they tried to include the original lineart that thing would have been much more hideous in fighter mode.

I'm also no expert (at all, in any capacity) but I would say there are some areas that look like they could use paneling. Paneling seems to be a good way to then judge how your weathering should look. I agree with Chas, we need close-ups! Edit: On second thought, maybe paneling would look horrible since there isn't much detail.

New Robotech Transformable Toy Coming...
jenius replied to VALKYRIE-EXCHANGE.COM's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Funny, when I call the RT store at 11pm no one answers.... they must really like you there. I'm glad they're releasing a green and shadow Beta... seeing as they both appear in Mospeada/New Gen for about half a sec. If you're going to lie at least make it plausible and say it's the BLUE and the green Beta. Your prices also seem way funky.
