Huh? I posted the correct version. The one that was featured here on MW was indeed a bad scan with massive color saturation... go a few pages back. In the original post here he's all purple and bright, in the one from other websites he has a normal skin-tone and the green of the background is far more subdued. If he seems too pink to you still just imagine what most white people look like when exerting a lot of energy. They tend to become flushed. Certainly his skin-tone is far from ridiculous. Here's what I don't get, how did Rick go from a scrawny tiny pilot to a huge admiral? It looks like he's taken up prolific steroid use while in deep space.
-
I would guess we don't see many valks that color because you wouldn't be able to see them in space.
-
uh.... Dean, I wouldn't worry, I'm sure there will be plenty of hotties in the new RT. Lisa should be like 50 so I doubt she's gonna be hot... (although I hope she hasn't totally hit the wall). PS - does anyone else think the characters all look like someone else's head drawn on to A1's body?
-
wow, he's old I'm more curious to see what Lisa looks like.

For the love of all that is holy... I've seen this thing not go for this much MISB. It's going for more than the Toynami, Yamato 1/60s, and Bandai (heck, as much as the takatokus if you look for loose and incomplete ones). What are people thinking? How come these people don't bid on my stupid auctions??? Crapbox VF-1S NOTE- it's missing the fast packs and missiles also...
-
PS - maybe someone should start a new thread asking "Who's more believable, Max Jenius or Nekki Basara.
-
Nah, Basara was ridiculous in every way, it's not just his own personal bias. That being said, do we ever learn why he's sooooooo good in combat? Where'd he get his training? Oh man, remember when Gamlin was discussing how Basara routinely breaks some logical performance barrier making Basara a superior pilot... Oh crud... this is supposed to be a "What I like...." forum. So instead of summing this little debate up with "I like Basara and you're wrong" and "I think Basara is a joke and you're wrong" why don't we just leave it at "Some people like Basara and some don't." I, for one, would rather Mr Hanky star in an outer space sci fi flick than Basara but instead of discussing it in this thread (other than covertly.. as I am now) I simply left him off my list of what I liked about the series. Nobody needs to have the last word here folks, it is clear who likes him and who doesn't.
-
Actually... if you look at the one I stole and compare it to the one posted here... the purple face's color does look oversaturated. I think it has to be just a bad scan... I don't think anyone in RT is gonna be purple...
-
-
I know everyone enjoys ripping on this picture but I actually saw a copy somewhere else where the face wasn't purple. Soooo, it's safe to assume one of the pictures underwent some difficulty in the scanning process... either that or the other website fixed it to avoid exactly these comments

Can someone remind me what the history of the Varuta fighters was supposed to be? If the Varuta are all brainwashed zents from a previous colonization attempt then it would stand to reason that the Varuta are using Earth fighters right? Are they modified VF-4s? Those mechs really did peak my interest but it was tough to admire them on my copy of the series because they don't really stand out well in space battles.

Posts soooo long.... thread being derailed from what we like to another argument about why Mac7 is sooooo incredibly bad. Basara is sooooo not realistic.... Max not having him hung is sooooo unrealistic. Gamlin's near death was soooooo horrible... I'm astounded that someone referenced it as something done well. I cheered when Gamlin died... I thought it was the first attempt in M7 to be more than silly rubbish... and then he was magically alive again affirming my belief the entire series was silly rubbish. Let's get this back on topic though and just stick to what we like. Stuff like Max kicking butt or the Protodevlin folding the bomb back to his ship. That made me smile and then laugh. Good stuff.

Wow, I remember these got really rare at one point but then Yamato re-released 'em so I thought they'd be everywhere. I guess they must have done a pretty limited re-release.
-
Do we know that's supposed to be Rick? I thought it was TR Edwards when I saw it initially.
-
In the word's of the Howard Stern Show's Casey... "NICE!" For the love of GOD, why doesn't ANYONE release a TV 1A Max???
-
Man, this is like the hundredth person I've read about having this happen. I feel extremely fortunate, I got mine on a blind whim for next to nothing and I was kinda rough with it at first and never had it break. Thank goodness the toy stayed together long enough for me to realize how fragile it was and stop touching it altogether Just be happy this didn't happen to a YF-19 (although, IIRC you really just have to worry about all the paint chipping off of those).

In preparation for the impending arrival of my 1/48 CF I decided to prepare my CF display case. I pulled the guys out and tried to figure out some good looking poses. Here's what I've come up with - -
I think it's just "limited" for now. If demand doesn't warrant a second release then this bad boy will be pretty rare. By not specifically labeling it "limited" they reserve the right to dump thousands more on the market when they notice secondary market going through the roof like it did with the LV. For now, it's just a gamble.

Nice weathering on the Milia 1/48 fast packs. Looks like you panel lined the 1/60 Hikkie 1J also. Did you do any weathering or panel lines to the Milia valk? -

As crammed as I can get my Milia cube... I finally got a minty Milia JM! *Edit - it occurs to me that this is supposed to be a yamato display thread so this post is really in the wrong spot since it's just a random display case pic. My apologies. -
The 1S Hikkie also sold horribly when it was first released so the only 1/48 I would ever truly think won't be re-released is the LowVis. I also think Yamato has learned from this and that's why the Mass Production is (ironically) a limited production toy that won't be marketed as such just in case somewhere down the line they want to release more of them. Coincidentally, isn't that exactly what happened with their 1/60 mass production toy? They sold it as a limited edition but demand was large enough for them to make a non-limited edition as well? This time they're being even smarter, if they never call it "limited" in the first place they'll never have to make a slight change to the box or paint tone.

Lets your Hikaru Collection that I have noticed below your Millia collection 328066[/snapback] Oh don't worry, pics of that will be available in due time... I'm waiting until all my Hikkies are dressed up in their GBPs before I take any pics though. Sadly I think the box containing my Taka GBP-1 was stolen! I just got a Milia JM too so I think I'll have to snap another pic and see if the Detolf cube doesn't just appear to be solid red -
You too can own a Toynami superposeable for only ten times MSRP! Graded Toynami toys... .what a mistake that is. You'd have to take that thing out of the plastic just to know it's not broken. $99.99 Superposeable

Yeah, I noticed this as well. I started with halogens in my first two display cases and switched to Xenons for the second two. I believe the xenons produce friendlier light (no UV) but are still just as hot as the halogens I too only use them for a minute or two at a time. Really though, if you move your hand six inches down from the light source it doesn't seem hot enough to really do any damage. The xenon lights let you angle them though so you can angle them out to the glass (although this means less light to all the toys). -
