  1. I think all valks look better in battloid mode with Fast packs (except maybe the YF-21). In fighter mode I prefer them all without (with the occasional exception to art of the Vf-1).
  2. wouldn't there be a gaping hole right in the middle of VF-11 and VF-19 if they lost an arm? Especially if they lost the arm that is connected to the shield. I'm just going off the toys though. The VF-1 didn't have a gaping hole in the middle when it loses an arm. In fact, you can't even tell my jetfire doesn't have any arms at all

    1/48 Gbp

looks to me like the pic is just crummy, the camo on the LV valk also looks gray-ish.
  4. RoboTech, no animated avatars. These Toynamis also seem like a great deal for those who like to do customs...
  5. Somebody should PM me and tell me where to download anime for free!!! As it is, I'm stuck watching whatever is on Cartoon Network or one of the other networks. So far cool shows have been (in absolutley no order): 1) Trigun 2) Cowboy Bebop 3) Samurai Champloo 4) Street Fighter II (if for no other reason than the episode titles) 5) Patlabor movies 6) Vandread I've also managed to watch Orguss and Orguss II, they were spiffy.
  6. NICE! The second set sounds like an easy winner, I don't collect DYRL stuff so I hope they sell Roy's VF-1S separately....
  7. If Yamato re-did the Alpha and added a Beta with the same quality of the 1/48 Valks I would be THRILLED. Alas, I doubt it is to be.
  8. Crap, I always forget which member told me this and in which forum, but someone said it was BigWest that always freaks out when Yamato talks to HG. So the fact HG and Yamato are talking is no big deal, it's getting BW on board that's the big factor.
  9. That's the one! A little aftermarket lighting too (costs about $20 and super easy to install). Sure, gives me a chance to show off my MOSPEADA case! here's two cases side by side.
  10. RT.com forums say it has been postponed until 2007.
  11. Hey guys, thanks a ton for your compliments! Glad you all dig the set-up as much as I do. Yes they are. They're honestly quite a bargain. The big downfall is that the shelves aren't adjustable heights but if you're going to have a Yammy 1/48 in battloid mode they're pre-set at pretty much the perfect distance apart anyway. I was going to buy some custom display cases so I could pack more in but they were a bit pricier than I expected. Except for that pesky Q-Rau M&M display! I have two problems. First, my copy of DYRL for whatever reason won't let me lift a still-frame image, Second, when I first set up the case I wasn't sure what was going to go into that cube. I honestly never thought I'd buy a bust. Then I saw them at a store for like $9.99 each and since my brother was strapped for cash I told him that'd make a good xmas gift. I figured, worst case scenario, I could sell them next Xmas and make a little money When I opened 'em up though I was quite surprised by how nice they were and they worked really great in a display. The place that had the other two busts was strangely out of Max (they probably saw how badly roy and rick sold so they didn't order as many of Max). If they ever do a Miriya I'll buy them both and add them to the Q-Rau set-up. I have no idea where I'm going to put the VF-0S when it comes out. I'm gonna have to start working on a third Roy display!
  12. Man I LOVE the LowVis. Every time I see a pic of it I love it more. LOL, I remembered doing the trade but I wasn't sure with what member! Man, back then I think I had one yammy product, a 1/48 VF-1S and strike parts. Oh the money I have spent since then... Sorry, I didn't realize back on page 58 you had shown those other pics. VERY NICE. I'll see what pics I can dig up. I kinda feel bad posting 'em here though since I don't have them hosted on a website anywhere. Eh, what the heck, here's my MacrossTV & DYRL stuff (warning, not all of it is Yamato so I am venturing a little OT)
  13. Thank you Mr. March for the education on the whole "mecha" thing. I guess since much of this conversation has been about starships and stuff I should have realized that sooner. I guess I was thinking mecha was somehow derived from robot or jinzo-ningen concepts (pardon my jinzo spelling there, i probably butchered it).
  14. Is there such a thing as an American mecha designer? What mecha would they have created? I can only think of the armored frames in MatrixII and the cargo frame in Aliens.
  15. AWESOME display fansubs! Seems like you dumped super Max for another VF-1S Focker. CDn - very intimidating Hikky VF-1S. I can almost hear a thug Hikkie saying "yeah, that's how I roll."
  16. Aww man, I love drinking. I love drinking as much as I love Macross. I can prove it, the other night I thought "I could go out drinking or I could buy another Valk." I stayed home and bought another Valk.
  17. Unless your salad dressing is made of people... "Soylen dressing is PEOPLE!!!" Man, I am so retarded. Anyway, the VF-1 looks like a modern day (um, for the 1970s) western fighter to me and the Zent ships are big blocky floating things and so is the SDF-1. I don't really see how Macross fits the bill here. Other than that the difference is almost entirely the difference between drawn Science Fiction and live-action science fiction. There are plenty of exceptions too. As Hollywood budgets get bigger you'll notice that SciFi props are getting sleeker and sleeker.
  18. Holy crap, Penny, is that you? Oh, sorry, for a second there I thought you were my exgirlfriend.
  19. Yep Hiriyu, I was watching it also. That's the second time I've seen it go for $400+ but typically it doesn't break $250. I don't know why it has such random peaks in price. I was planning to bid $220 on it...
  20. I think RT Background music would also make great cell phone rings.
  21. I second the George Clooney speech being great. Humorously adding his "world's sexiest man 1997" title in there was great. He actually seems to have a sense of humor similar to Stewart's. I will also agree that Stewart did a great job. I also liked the opening spoof where all the past hosts refused to consider doing the job again. I really only watched bits and pieces but the parts I caught were done well. Man, I'd be thrilled if they'd get rid of the crappy song performances next year.
  22. Seriously, this is the kind of thing that makes future projects by other people less likely because they remember getting burned and then don't want to put money up early. That's a BL thing. I find it really humorous that he actually told everyone he was giving up for a while and taking on another project. I'm gonna try that at work tomorrow and let you know how my bosses feel. -
  23. It featured a non-violent protagonist who danced around to evade the enemy. The only people who could continue to suspend their disbelief during that performance are children.
  24. I feel like Tom Hanks' character in BIG. I just don't get it. A movie version of Macross7 ought to have a darker more foreboding feel. How can you accomplish that with a guy dancing through battles while piloting his mech with a guitar and never hurting anyone? There really aren't even that many deaths in the show either, the "vampires" normally just suck the "spiritia" out of their foes. No, I don't think this story would make a good movie at all.... UNLESS You would have to do it as a kiddy-fied version! Do it super-deformed (Super-Deformed Fortress Macross SEVEN) and otherwise Pokemon it out. If you went for that feel you could certainly make it foreboding to children at times and you wouldn't even need to update the look of the Protodevlin. In this kiddy version you would start with a BOMBA! concert and then have them shoot out into Space a la Voltron when the Varatu appear. After their combined "SOUND ATTACK!" the Varatu would run away. After the mystery of where the bad guys came from and a few bad guy victories (where they suck the spirita out of a few characters) the magic Sound Force would go to their planet and subdue them with the "ULTIMATE SOUND ATTACK!" It would end with super-deformed Basara giving super-deformed Geppy a hug and credits would roll as he turned to the camera, gave a big thumbs up, and yelled "BOMBA!" Now that, is how the Mac7 movie would work.
