1. Man, don't scare me like that!! I thought maybe Macross7 had turned me gay! Not for nothing but if that blonde number is a dude it's one dude I would do! Okay, I found this though and it makes me feel better: Geppernich The principal enenmy, Geppernich is a protodevilin whose dreram of a "Spiritia Farm" begins the whole series of attacks on Macross 7 (and Macross 5 as it turns out) and eventually turns her into a "Spirita Black Hole" which threatens to eat up the entire galaxy. Geppernich' gender is an issue as she seems to be a she but from time to time is referred to as a he...? props to this page http://members.tripod.com/~MJenius/m7.html for the above information
2. Wow, this thread is tough because I want to read what everyone said was a positive already just so I don't repeat them but at the same time I don't want to read it so I don't have a fiery urge to refute them... tough stuff indeed! Hey, did someone say Ella Fitzgerald was one of Max's bridge bunnies? I certianly don't remember an old black crooner being on the bridge at any point... Positives about Macross 7... gimme a moment I can think of one or two... 1) Gold Q-Rau 2) Rex unzipping (oh so hot, want to touch the...) 3) Max kickin' butt in his VF-22 (where's my VF-22 toy Bandai???) 4) Gubaba (don't quote me on this because I hate to admit I liked it... it's like an emoticon... I feel much less manly for liking it but still do anyway) 5) Sivil 6) VF-17 (not the gussied up glam rock one, the standard midnight blue/black) 7) VF-19 (not the gussied up glam rock Kai, the standard blue/black one) VF-11 (although it's performance is much better in Mac Plus even though it only gets 1/100000000 of the onscreen time there) 9) If she never talked, the blonde chick that headed up the Varuta 10) Knowing it can never be released stateside.
3. I like how HG gets villified and RT gets hated on because of it. I really do just enjoy the drama it creates. It's kinda like the really Christian guy who cuts you off on his way to church. All these people raise a stink about all these legal problems but if they had their hand in a pocket full of money I wonder how many would gladly pull it out to let other people reach in and take it? The whole "i can't buy my toys" thing should be moot anyway since we all own the toys anyway and it's EVERYONE's fault there's a legal problem here. As far as the shows go, they all have their good parts and their problems. I mean, Robotech has The Masters saga and Macross has Macross7...
4. This is a big mistake methinks.... this has gotta spawn a reissue if anyone from Yamato is half-awake.
5. Official toynami word thusfar: "We'll let sells dictate that. Blue first, then more if sells warrant it." I expect we'll see 'em all.
6. Hi Kin, figured out I'm a completist eh My Shadow Fighter review post a couple days back, I believe, has a picture of all the shadow fighters I own including the three MPCs. I'm pretty sure this is every Shadow Fighter ever made. I also posted a pic of the same shelf before the MPCs arrived so it might cause some confusion. Beyond that there are two things I know of that I'm missing. 1) The I-men figures. 2) the green MPC. I do eventually plan on getting those but I've been really busy lately scooping up vintage Macross toys. Anything vintage takes precedent for me since I'm pretty sure if I don't have a green MPC two years from now I'll still be able to find one pretty easy. I also had to finish my Yammie 1/48 collection before prices go too outrageous. I'm currently trying to do this very same type of display with the characters from Macross. It's very expensive and you could never fit all of their toys into one cube. Hell, you can only fit a tiny percentage of the toys into one cube so I'm having to learn some restraint
7. Here's what my Shadows looked like before the MPCs arrived - It was clearly a bit lonely since Gakken never got around to them.
8. Yeah, i've posted this a couple times before but I don't mind doing it again (forgive my lack of a green MPC... still waiting to find the perfect deal on that item)
9. is there a TRU Japan website we can bombard with orders I ordered a super Max from a vender here (the last TV one I'm missing) and am now in the precarious position of waiting while the vender "restocks." I would definitely order one from TRU and risk having two.
10. There's currently a LV on Ebay, with BIN and shipping it's $385. This will be a good test to see which valk is worth more.... You know the LV is never gonna be released so i gotta think it still holds the edge.... As far as the Roy first edition being worth more than the second or third.... I doubt the difference in value is at all significant. Obviously Roy is the least collectible of the series now.... he's everywhere!
11. Sure thing, apparently they released three superposeables for the Shadow Fighter. There's your standard one, the metallic one, and a clear one that was a magazine or con exclusive (I forget which... someone here could probably clear this up better). BTW - If you want one and you're in the US I received a second one as a gift and haven't touched it.
12. Just to play devil's advocate here.... (I really don't care enough to take a stance one way or the other) People tend to be irked when someone downplays the differences between Macross and The Macross Saga (or SDCSC vs TRM, MOSPEADA, TNG). I've seen it many times where someone will make the "eh, it's just a dub" comment and create the flame war to end all flame wars. Soo.... if we all like to think the originals are vastly different and superior to Robotech then don't we have to conceed that Robotech is indeed a unique creation? I'm not saying we have to like it or dislike it but wouldn't we have to view it as a stand-alone product or risk becoming hypocritical? As such, if a SciFi enterprise feels the story is worthy of accolade then, if we really do feel that RT does a horrible representation of the originals, don't we have to conclude that they are judging RT based on the story how RT conveys it? I dunno, just a thought. The folks at HG don't seem to try to hide what they've done so I highly doubt any organization handing out awards has no idea that the animation is all originally from three unrelated Japanese shows.
13. The Russians of old would call them Capitalist pigs. I don't get the anamosity... they made money, good for them. They're still making money... good for them. They're proud of what they've done... good for them. Do they deserve a Sci Fi award I've never heard of for it? Not more than the creators of the original series but heck, good for them. I hope the original series have already gotten plenty of accolades.
14. Wow.... $375.99... that's just crazy talk. That's $125 more than I spent on my Low Vis and that's after the LV craze really started heating up. I'm glad I only collect 1/48 in TV color schemes... this woulda made me insane.
15. Now for a review: Shadow Fighter #1 (serial number mid 3000): Not bad first impressions. Nothing obviously broken, landing gears all popped out nicely and appeared straight. One tail fin doesn't lean outward as nicely as the other. Cockpit opens easily and closes tightly. Gun's a bit of a PITA to get to stick in the desired spot and clearly would kill the pilot if fired. Checked the joints and usual trouble spots, all seems well so I didn't even transform it, just displayed in fighter. Sadly, the front landing gear doesn't quite sit down and no amount of massaging corrects this. It's just barely off the ground though so I'm not fretting. Shadow Fighter #2 (serial number low 4000): This is one of "those" shadow fighters. Vents are smudged but it looks like a little eraser attention should correct that. IT HAS A FRIGGIN GREEN HINGE BEHIND THE COCKPIT. That's right, someone put Lancer's hinge on a Shadow Fighter at the factory. Wonderful! Turn it upside down and one of the screw covers is missing... seen ths before on Yammies so I'm not too surprised. The right arm is a little loose at the elbow hinge but nothing too substantial. Forearm isn't as tight as it should be so it wants to pop off the shoulder joint in fighter mode. Front landing gear needs so much love if it was a clitoris there'd be guaranteed orgasm by the time you can get this thing out. Rear left landing gear takes an insane amount of effort to get to the position it should "pop" into... no pop. Speaking of insane effort, getting the cockpit open nearly required the jaws of life. Transformation is sweet, all other joints are tight, acheives Armo-Diver without any worries and holds a pose. Shadow Fighter #3 (serial number mid 4000): NICE! This is one of those ones everyone hopes to get. Arms are locked pretty tight together in fighter mode (very minimal forearm gap) and paint has no visible flaws. Landing gears appear to work fine and cockpit pops right open. Transformation is actually HARD because the joints are all so tight (with exception to the hips... they could be a bit tighter). I had to yank so hard on the legs I was frightened. Shoulders, forearms, and chest all rotate and extend snugly. Battloid looks nice... the head is perfectly straight! First time I have ever seen an MPC with a perfectly straight head.
16. Okay so now i reveal why i wasn't shopping around. Last month I came across someone selling Volume 4 Shadow Fighters for $55 shipped.... so I bought three of them. They came in today. Here's a pic -

1/48 VF-1S Hikaru

True dat, the "hero ship" phenomenon is seen in how all the main characters have valks that stand out from cannon fodder. The more it stands out from the flat brown the more heroic it is (blue, red, Jolly Roger). I think we're kinda stretching it an itty bit by incorporating what color the heat shield is also. Definitely an interesting thought though. Ya know, maybe the paint on the heatshield burned or wore off fairly often and it was just painted whatever color was more readily available. Ya figure a few good transformations and an intense battle left it lookin' pretty banged up so the guys sprayed on a new coat real quick. "Hey, gimme some blue paint" "Sorry, only got black handy." "Well, gimme some black paint." See, everybody's right

1/48 VF-1S Hikaru

Hey, are they supposed to be filming DYRL in the scenes where they're making a movie in Mac7? If so then wouldn't that mean the Mac7 heatshield shown for both characters (red and blue respectively) is what's actually supposed to be in DYRL? Arguments over animation quality aside shouldn't we go with whatever was done more recently as the crew has had time to look back and think about these things (although this is admittedly a teeny detail)? I dunno, definitely doesn't seem like anything worth getting heated over... it looks like this is one of those "everybody is right" situations. PS - Focker woulda looked horrible with a yellow heat shield.
19. Sorry, don't know the name of anybody off the top of my head but it shouldn't be hard to snag 'em off Evilbay for around there. I'm currently not allowing myself to shop around Well then, by all means, where can I get one for $65? That's exactly the price range I was hoping for. 322195
20. You should be able to find them for $65 pretty easy. They won't be reissued. I don't know if all 15K have been shipped yet but they were all built at about the same time and all have the same build quality. I own three of them and my only really buggy one is the lowest serial number (has the different color front vents). The other two I have are in the 5000 range and they are both pretty sweet. Just treat it like a highly detailed model and not a toy and you should be alright.
21. Sorry, is that a serious question or am I just gullible? The band is.... The Misfits. I saw a kid with that skull on his T-shirt. What group uses that skull igsignia? 321616
22. Most the arguments I've seen in regards to Mac7 being bad have nothing to do with how it was received in Japan. I think the more common myth is the one that since it was well received in Japan it must be somewhat good... Not trying to bash... but I think that one definitely works both ways.
23. You might have to stop at one if they don't reissue more of them! Prices are nuts-o. I'm spending good money on catching up. Just need the Max and Milia then I'm done. Somebody help me!
24. LOL, at least it'll be better than the people who spent $300 on a toynami MPC VF-1S. Now you can get 'em for $55 (for the time being at least). At least the Yammie is a really good toy.
25. Okay, so I checked out the link to this site's toy section and I guess each vending machine came with a random set of three larger toys. Sadly I don't have a Glaug or Regult in mine Mine came with a VF-1J and two destroids (I'm not a destroid fan so I don't know their names).
