Yeah, I love that box! No windows so the toy would never yellow and the artwork is pretty darned cool! I would love to see the blue and red versions also. There's probably an interesting story how these came about also. Why would a company take a MOSPEADA product and repackage it under an artificial show's name? Did Gakken keep making the Legioss after it lost the rights to MOSPEADA?
-
seriously, I was expecting it all in one box like the Super VF-1Js they released. That would have been really cool.

I hate carnies... they have little hands. I also hate uncooked onions. I hate when a toy breaks. I hate when my girlfriend acts strange and wants to talk about it instead of just having sex until the problem magically solves itself. I hate when people and politicians cater to the bandwagon.

Okay guys, the packaging is completely unfamiliar, there is no mention of MOSPEADA anywhere on the packaging, the art shows pilots that are clearly not Stig, Rey, Belmont, or Houquet, so .... WTF IS THIS??? 1/35 Gakken Legioss-type-thing EDIT - it has some pilot's name on the box. Was there some other cartoon made that featured the Legioss? I'm totally intrigued.

Isn't the MPC a 6" Transformable Legioss? Pretty close at least and that's at 1/55 scale. If they went down to a 1/100 scale I'm pretty sure it'd be less than 4" tall. In fact, I'll bet Toynami's "Morphers" are pretty much 1/100 scale Alphas. Anyone who wants 1/100 scale anything from MOSPEADA is not familiar with how small things in MOSPEADA actually were. I would be so much happier if Toynami released 1/55 scale Zentraedi mecha but if all we get is 1/100 mechs that'd be better than nothing. Still, I'd say the odds are very slim.

Two of the sickest damn minutes of anime from an 80s show! All that episode was missing was Rey yelling "Say hello to my little friend!" to drive home how damn spectacular it was. Hoo-rah! Crap, I'm not a marine, am I allowed to Hoo-rah? Edit - Holy crap, maybe somebody should hit that guy up on his pager and let him know the next millenium has hit. -
Sweet! Any chance you can get a little light in the cockpit also?

I'm thrilled by the little 1/100 toy for $20. That's phenomenal considering they wanted nearly that much for the POS superposeables. The sculpt is clearly superior to the Banpresto. My biggest problem with the Banpresto was never the sculpt though, it was that terrible vinyl they made the valk out of. They're friggin' bendable valks. Hopefully the Toynami is actually made out of some sturdier plastic... I'd be stoked. As to the man-doll... to each his own, definitely not for me.

Wait hold on, somebody spilled the milk, lets all gather to lament! Shouldn't a thread like this at least list particular grievances? If it did list particular grievances, wouldn't it be just like other threads that already exist?

That is the price you pay for touching the holy shrine. You have deflowered the sacred vessel, now it will forever bear your sin!

Including fastpacks is soooo not fair. The Alpha has like 60 missiles without giant boosters that absolutely prevent it from flying within an atmosphere.

Yeah, i'm gonna be accused of kissing up to AgentOne on this one but I'm with him. Except for the Flashback2012 opinion, of which I have none.

Aw damn, that woulda been hilarious if we all just posted pics of our girlfriends in this forum. Why didn't we think of this sooner???? Why am I broke??? This lifestyle: Edit - pics removed... those could definitely be blackmail in some hands.

GOO!! You need to shop around, nobody should be paying that much for a VF-0S.

Do we get to count the ones Max attaches to the fins of his valk? Should be between 12 and 18 I think.... When I first came to the MPC forum I was all about the old Gakkens. Then I got a few more MPCs and have come to found that they really are superior in most ways (I made some long rants). The glory of owning the originals and the MPCs is I'll never be stuck making that kind of decision

Fort Max asked: Then we heard crickets. Basically, no one knows except Yamato. I think someone deduced the number of LowVis' at one point. Something like 5000 if I'm not mistaken. Now, if we could then determine that each run was 5000 pieces we could figure out exactly how many of each type would be... Unfortunately, I'm not certain about the 5000 LVs and I'm less certain that we could use that to ascertain that that is exactly the number of each production run. PS - the 1/48 is profitable (or Yamato is a very bad company). Why do I say this? Their pricing model would almost certainly be such as to recoup the costs of the toy after completion of its FIRST production run. Now, using the old creedo that everything costs twice what you hope it will we should be able to determine that after the Second run Yamato had at least broken even. Everything since then is gravy baby. PPS - here's some speculation for you. We just saw the Hik 1A, 1J, and 1S get reissued (all use the exact same red right?). My guess is at some point we will see the Max Super 1J and Max 1A get reissued. As someone posited earlier, it's going to be the odd ducks (CF & Miria) that have less likelihood at more runs (unless they prove very demanded).

While anything might be possible, it sounds like this is most likely the result of sloppy glue work. If you live in the US just wiggle jiggle... then yank like hell. It will either break or be fixed. If it's broken Toynami will replace it themselves, don't bother going through the person who sold it to you. You just need to have some proof you've paid for the Shadow Fighter and then spend the money to ship the toy back to Toynami. If you live outside of the US.... good luck. Sorry.

Well, I'm more of a MOSPEADA retard than a Macross retard but I always hated the Robotech Masters branch for a number of reasons. I think one of the primary reasons is because it does offer so much potential to actually explain the Robotech story in a more coherent way but just fails miserably. We get all this repetitive, stilted, and uninteresting dialogue from The Masters which SHOULD have been used to explain what their relationship to the Zentraedi was, what their relationship to the Invid was, and just how exactly the SDF-1 slipped out of their grasp. If that segment of the series had been done better it could have made Robotech as a whole much more cohesive. -
What came first, the Gubaba or the Pikachu?

"Most people" are morons... they often times don't get the hundreds of literary references thrown at them, asking them to pick up on obscure anime references is a tall task. I think the term "homage" is really off here though. They're more like inside jokes and the beauty of those is they're not supposed to be understood by many people. -
I don't know models at all, who produces this kit?

Is the Thunder Clapper ever in Southern Cross or is it like a Design Works mecha (kinda like MOSPEADA's armored Tread)? I would say the Totally Spies girl's ride doesn't really resemble the Thunder Clapper at all but certianly has a lot in common with a Flash Clapper. Problem is, I think if any of us tried to design a hover cycle we'd almost all design something that closely resembled a flash clapper. -
He was debating between the affordability of an MPC and the coolness of a 1/48. I told him to watch eBay and forums like this for a deal on the 1/48. It's a shame the 1/48s aren't more affordable.

I just had a high schooler ask me about toy advice and said his next purchase was going to make his friends jealous. I'd say that's a pretty good sign for the future.
