  1. Well... I've already posted my VF-1S pic before but it seems appropriate here (it's small). Also, I'll add a pic of my Taka SDF-1s and Matchbox SDF-1s (they are "old school" although they aren't chunkies).
  2. Sweetnessss... I was hoping it was an old Taka item. Thanks Totoro, you definitely know your Macross (amongst other shows) merchandise!
  3. Actually, I looked, it's not candy, it vends out little Destroids in a bubble container. So don't worry, you don't have to worry about me trying to eat them! The destroids look pretty crammed in those tiny bubbles though so I'm guessing they'd be pretty distorted if you pulled them out now. Is this an early 80s item?
  4. So a while back (I'm sure some of you remember the auction), I won this vending machine thing with a Takatoku VF-1J and mini SDF-1. It's neat looking, the box is banged up, but the item inside has never been used. I was really bidding on the other two items though and am not sure what to do with this. Is it rare? Is it worth holding on to? I certainly don't think it's been re-issued... Edit, more pics
  5. I might be over-stating Hikkie, maybe only $140... that's also the going price for the Hikkie 1J coincidentally
  6. 1A Hikkie is probably at about $150 now. Here's price estimates on the 1As in the current market: LowVis - $300 Max - $185 Hikkie - $150 CF - $130 My guess would be that the CF will eventually be worth more than Hikkie and possibly more than Max. For now though, this is how it's shaking down out there. Obviously this is a very imperfect science so take those price estimates with a grain of salt.
  7. Funny, mine are pretty sweet. I never spent MSRP on them though... most I ever spent was $60. The old models are hard to build in a manner that looks nice... very difficult indeed. Seriously, stand your MPC next to an old Gakken... it should put the Gakken to shame... then again, they apparently do have a lot of quality control issues so maybe you just got a bad one.
  8. Actually the Max 1A is getting pretty pricey... the Hikkie 1A is the cheapest 1/48 you can buy.
  9. What was the first greatest film of all time? You've probably said it elsewhere... but it's probably before my time.
  10. seriously... very carefully. Bend the card enough not to crease it as to expose one edge of the plastic. Once the edge of the plastic is above the cardboard get a fingernail or something else underneath it and ply gently. There's gonna be tearing, there has to be, but do it super slow and you'll keep it to a minimum. That works for Toynami poseables at least.... not that i"m worried about them becoming collectable but i like to have a place to store toys.
  11. There have been complaints about the Roys having crooked jolly rogers on the fins and the first issues of all the 1/48s had nosecones and wing flap problems with falling off. Beyond that it's all just preference and I wouldn't worry about the next reissue having flaws... they darn well better have it right by now.
  12. Milia can still be found for a reasonable price. It's a super Valk and the going price for those was always a bit steep (but worth it). I think I'm just going to bite the bullet on the Max pretty soon here... I'm buying display cases and I hate leaving gaps where toys should be just because I'm looking for the perfect deal...
  13. You only get robber when it's against your will. This was just plain haste and stupidity on the buyers part. 319291[/snapback] I never understand how stuff like this happens. It takes an absolute lack of effort on the bidders part. If you looked at the Ebay stores you would find them for $160 easily (and that's still $30 more than you'd find them at other retailers as preorders online). They searched enough to find this one item, how did they not notice the other items in their search?
  14. Tell him you also LOVE Macross7.... it's always a hoot to see his reaction to that. As far as cheap goes, I've been diggin' for 1/48s lately (as you can see from my earlier post). My guess at going prices for non DYRL ones (I'm with you, I only collect all things SDF TV (except elints, ostriches, and LVs)): 1) VF-1J Hik Regular $150 - $175 shipped 2) VF-1J Super Hik or Milia $190-$220 shipped 3) VF-1J Super Max $215-240 shipped (DAMN IT, I DON'T WANNA PAY MORE THAN $200!!!) 4) VF-1A CF and VF-1S Fokker $135 - $160 shipped I have found one place selling the Max super 1J for $196 shipped but when I emailed about whether or not they had it actually "in-stock" they said "we're expecting more in September." I hate the sound of that since I know they're not making more of 'em right now so where are they "expecting" them from???
  15. I swear this exact thread was started about a week ago....
  16. I've been looking for a Max J, anyone know of a good place to find one? I got a Milia en route and the Max is the last one I need to get
  17. Does anyone know where I can find the outtakes from Thundercats. Back when I worked for a dotcom we received a link to them and it got the whole company cracking up. To just your memory, it's got Panthro's voice actor admitting he's hungover, and somebody esle asking "what the f**k is a thermoplexer?" Oh man, it's good times.
  18. PS - I may be wrong about some of that stuff. Correct me if I am... as I'm sure you will.
  19. OOh, i got more: Can we do this with toys too? Myth: The Yamato YF-19 and YF-19A are very anime accurate Truth: (in Jon Stewart voice): eh, not so much. Graham made some great comments on the differences a while back. Myth: Bandai considered reissuing the taka GBP and the SDF-1 Truth: I believe the mold is on the bottom of the ocean. Myth: Toynami reissued the VF-1S MPC due to popular demand Truth: Apparently they had a distribution nightmare when issuing them originally and by the time they resolved it it was already time for Max to be selling so they just put the extras in a warehouse for later. Myth: Gakken made Shadow Fighter toys but they never made it to market. Truth: Not bloody likely, they *probably* just considered it if the first series of toy were big sellers. Myth: Yamato is going to release a YF-19FP Truth: DAMN YOU YAMATO!!!! It puts the toy in the basket or else it gets the hose again!
  20. OR you were one of those lucky enough folks to actually get ahold of a Milia Takatoku. You now probably wish you didn't play with it so much when you were little 'cause it would make a sweet collectors item. Seriously, that Mac7 attack was way lame, if I was gonna rip on it it woulda been way funnier Don't worry, I won't do that here - MYTH: Sound energy actually has something to do with sound traveling through space. Source: Well, it's called sound energy and its shown to work in space Truth: I think it's a misnomer and the "sound" really hasn't nothing to do with it, it should be called "spiritia energy" or something. I can't recall if the valks actually have speakers on them but I'm hoping they don't and that the scientist just found some way of amplifying the spiritia energy... not the sound of the songs.
  21. Oh yeah man, Christ that's horrible. If you want to though I'll buy it off you so you never have to look at your horrible hack job again. j/k about the hack job stuff -
  22. Amen to that brother. I actually got a 1/48 before I got any of the 1/60s. I'm currently still trying to finish buying up the 1/48s while I occasionally pick off a 1/60. I'm guessing it'll take me another couple months before I have the scratch to pick up a 1/60 Elint and an Ostrich... God this hobby is soooooo expensive.
  23. I think it's $180, not $100. It it's not it's certainly supposed to be.
  24. That doesn't strike me as too insane. It's a lot more than they used to go for but it seems like all the 1/48 prices have been climbing. The Max 1A has been selling at about $200 lately.... that thing used to be worth just as little as the Hikkie 1A
  25. Thank you very much. Sounds like that oughta solve my problems nicely.
