  1. Seriously, I paid $99 for mine (after I saw the Ebay one go for $120).
  2. I would argue, even if you hated both equally, Mac2 makes you suffer for a lot shorter duration. Personally, Mac2 never made me physically angry so clearly I must hate Mac7 more. I would go on more about this but I think A1 tends to sum up my thoughts in a lot more intimidating way... I don't think people truly get the vehemence of my dislike but you gotta understand his... 'cause you might be the one he'd kill
  3. One thing that hasn't been mentioned, but I thought was nice, the bayonet on the gun is painted silver on the FP version (it's black in the non-FP version). The color variation is very slight IMHO. I love both of 'em... no broken parts... yet.
  4. seriously, once you get over the initial irks of the Alpha it can really grow on you. I hated my first Scott... now I have three of them
  5. Ugh, I just got my 1/60 VF-1S Strike today... and I don't know if "great" is exactly the word I would use to describe it. This is the first 1/60 I ever purchased. Maybe it's because I own a 1/48 VF-1S Strike... and just about every other VF-1S strike ever made, but I feel like this toy leaves a LOT to be desired. After all the praise on MW for the 1/60s (especially in comparisons to 1/55s) I guess I just had way too high of expectations. This will certainly be the only 1/60 I ever purchase.
  6. LOL, does that mean Godzilla owns like 10% of them?

    macross lineart

there is some good stuff here: 2 seat conversion thread
  8. As a little update to this thread, here's what I've decided to do: Each one of my display shelves features different variations of the same vehicle. I'm now watching the various anime on my computer. When a particularly cool scene comes on I still-frame the image and copy it to my computer. I'm going to grab two images for every vehicle. I am then going to take these images on a disk to Kinkos or one of those types of places and have them print them the size and width I desire. I will then use these makeshift posters as the backdrops to each "cubby." The tint information definitely sounds like a worthy cause too. I will look into getting this done. It sounds like the toy would be nearly as safe within the display case as it would be if i left it in its box... and I would much rather be able to see my toys then have them hidden in storage containers.
  9. it's true, the suck-potential here is over-whelming... If they're trying to be able to repackage this as a sequel for Mospeada in Japan though there's some hope... Is it ever confirmed anywhere that they definitely are going to sell it as Mospeada 2?
  10. or better yet, if Robotech's new series ended up being nearly as bad as Macross 7!!!! Oh Christ... I hope against hope, as someone who is a fan of anime... it doesn't come to that!
  11. Holy crap... is this also going to be a Phantasy Star anime??? Damn, fighting Dark Force only to get mobbed by the human creators afterward... now that was a video game!!! As far as everything else goes, only time will tell.
  12. I have the original VF-11B and supposedly the VF-11B with Fast Packs is on its way. I love my original VF-11B and have had no problems with the legs snapping on it. I've been fairly gentle with it but its not like I baby the thing. I'll give a more thorough opinion when both are in my hands
  13. Okay, I'll add some conjecture here. Remember at the end of Mospeada (not New Gen) when the Invid Queen is discussing how humans have followed the path of "Sadow" or something to that effect? It's been a LONG time since I've seen it so bear with me here. I imagine this could work well for a new Robotech also being Mospeada 2. Robotech is going to have a whole new alien threat (as the article mentions) based on shadow. It'll probably tie together with the opening sequence of The Masters. In that scene they're looking at the mounds that represent the ruins from Space War 1 and there's a brief flash of three sillouettes. "What was that?" "A form of inorganic sentry." Basically it seems to be a set-up for a more mystical alien race that also is tied extremely closely to protoculture and that the Invid are well aware of (tying to the Regis' discussion of "children fo the Shadow"). So in both Mospeada and in Robotech there have been allusions to a shadow race. So in the Mospeada 2 dub a division of Mars Base will sweep the galaxy looking to kill off remaining Invid and come in contact with the Shadow Race. In the RT sequel the REF will be searching for the SDF-4 and come in contact with both Invid and the Shadow race.
  14. TSINC just upped the price on fast packs to $75....

    Custom VF-17S

Okay, this is my last post of this thing while blue. The next part of the project? I'm gonna buy some sort of material and apply it to the areas I've hacked away to round the edges better. I am then going to completely disassemble the thing and give my first attempt at Plasticote (probably spelled it wrong). When all is said and done this will hopefully be a very poseable Miriya VF-17. I'm also considering adding a pivot point in the torso region so the upper body can move indendent of the legs... ALTHOUGH, unfortunately I think the back is so broad it might not really add any poseabilty. Also, I'm fiddling with the idea of hacksawing off the fists and replacing with poseable hands... Wish me luck everybody! I'll probably just utterly ruin this thing...

    Custom VF-17S

Here's a better pic to get an example of the leg mobility:

Graham, remember the comment about too much being removed from the knees? All the extra trimming is necessary to make the legs swing that violently forward in Gerwalk mode.

    Custom VF-17S

Does that mean my gerwalk mode is wrong also??
  19. Agent One speaks only the truth. You know he's right, he's gotta be right, 'cause he's of the same opinion of me... and you know I'm always right.
  20. Well, i guess another way to tell would be to see how natural 1/48 Yammie pilots look next to the Alphas.
  21. Haterist, did you find some place selling 'em cheap? I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly where the transforming issue is. From the sounds of it you might just be being a bit too gentle. Wiggle jiggle on the wings while you tug pretty firmly. The legs do need some good yanks but I'm not sure what you mean by "swinging them out."
  22. for that low of a serial number you're lucky that's the only problem it has. You also have the odd blue color vents on that bad boy... if these ever become insane collector's items I like to think that'd help the value. I couldn't agree more about the need for ratcheting arms. I'm afraid to transform these things more than a couple times (in fact, most of the ones I own have been transformed twice at the most) because I know it'd only be a matter of time before all the arms could do is dangle.
  23. Another case of the crooked head eh? All the Rooks have really crooked heads... that irks me.
  24. Yep, don't get me wrong, they are both the same scale. It's just that they're both like 1/51 scale if you want to be overly proper. That's assuming the math done on RT.com was proper. Obviously that makes it close enough where if you said it was either 1/55 or 1/48 you're close enough to being right where no one will argue with you on something this small. Then again... these MPCs have pretty tricky transformations and maybe the person who did the math just didn't extend the toy out far enough and it really ought to be 1/48 scale. Let the debate live on....
  25. I believe the correct answer is: Neither one is correct. Both kits are somewhere between 1/48 and 1/55. Somebody on RT.com did the math for us and we figured that 1/55 would be a bit smaller than the MPC and 1/48 would be a bit larger than the Imai. Personally, I love the MPC sculpt. I own the models to make all three of the Legioss but damn, after seeing this I'd never be happy with my own attempt Don't hold the MPC's fighter mode against it based on the comparison pic, the front "fins" are still pushed down instead of being in their proper position making it look kinda sloppy. Looks like the back flap that fits the shoulder mounted sensor (whatever that thing is) fits a lot better on MPCs and the front fins are anime correct on the MPCs (as far as their folding behind the mech in battloid). For a model, those Legioss are super impressive though. I never understood where they got that center missle stand and top mounted gun though... those don't appear in the series do they??? Does this Jung character still build and paint models for people? Maybe he can do my Legioss too!
