  1. Ordered from Okini.land on the 22nd. Just received today. Like.
  2. This is my second purchase with them and got the item for $417 shipped FedEx to the US. I ordered the VF-1S DX from them last year and it went very smoothly. I don't know how much this is on Amazon.jp, but the prices at Okini have been reasonable compared to other options for the most part. I've been seeing this item around ~ $465 on Ebay and I won't go near any of the ones people usually complain about endlessly here like NY etc,
  3. Hrm, for what it's worth I was able to place an order for the VF-1J w/armor about 20 minutes ago on Okiniland. I did sign up for the update on item availability which I'm not sure makes a difference or not. I still see the Add to Cart option right now as well.
  4. For those of you curious of how Okiniland packs, just got mine today after placing my order on Dec 1st. Arrived in perfect condition. One layer bubble wrap in a box with some room in the box. The outer box made the trip mostly intact with minimal corner denting.
  5. Nice display case, love the lighting especially against a dark backdrop. Is there another photo that shows more of it. I also have the Voltron as well.
  6. Just got my DHL confirmation for Roy after placing an order on Dec 1 from Okini. Feels like it's been a week but only been 3 days haha. First valk purchase in 12 years, i guess i'm gonna get sucked in again . . . . "where can i get a Strike pack" . . . "will there be a GBP coming out" . . . "oh i definitely need to get that variant"
  7. haven't been on these boards in probably over a decade but the Roy has brought me back to actually post, most likely to the detriment of my wallet. :) I just picked up the Roy from Okini a few minutes ago for $266 before shipping, $310 with DHL to the US. It seems they come in and out of stock frequently but I still see they have stock. Having never ordered from them before, have people had mostly good experiences with them?
  8. I haven't been on this board in quite a while . . . and what greets me? News that basically tells me I'm gonna be collecting again. Damn it Yamato, I thought I was done with you.
  9. Just curious to see some of the best examples of minty vintage boxes. I've seen and own some minty valks but it's always the boxes that are worse for wear. Love to see some stuff that looks like you just pulled it off the toy shelf in the store. If you have any pics of boxes like these please post.
  10. I've been away from collecting Valks for a few years now because something else had sparked my interest. Anyways, I'm slowly getting interested again and it seems prices on vintage items have come down a considerable bit. Is this the way things have been going or is it something you think is just a blip . . . or is there annoucements of more 1/55's that I don't know about like a new GBP or something like that. Any thoughts?
  11. Yeah, it's been posted before. It seems to get posted every so often. I get props for the orignal post though since I made it.
  12. It's absolutely beautiful in its mintiness. Congrats. Do you mind if i ask how much you paid for it?
  13. And you would have thought a bill a piece was pushing it. MISB, case fresh ---> HG Tactical Battle Pod 360499[/snapback] Wow. Wow. I love how it goes from a $86 to $1000 in the last few minutes. I wish my auctions did that.
  14. I'm sure we all have mortgages, loans, car payments etc but I was just wondering what other hobbies besides Macross toys are keeping you from paying all that off in a timely responsible fashion. RC I recently got into Kyosho Mini-z RC cars. They're 1/28 scale and I've been collecting them like gangbusters lately. I used to be into the larger 1/10 scale but living in NYC, I've decided i'd rather have the space. And I've discovered that the bigger your hobby items are, the geekier you look so I'm downscaling. Instruments Just got another guitar and a mean Ukulele, haha. Lego I use to also really be big into Lego as some of you may have seen some old posts of my Lego macross items. Haven't really had the time to mess around with them in over a year or so but I have a couple hundred pounds that become the bain of my existence everytime I move.
  15. The cost of parts dependent on size is negligible at this size as well as complexity. I'd hate to break it to you guys but almost every plastic toy and yes even the 1/48 start life as a sprue just like any plastic model kit. So even if you have 40 little pieces they can all be designed and molded onto one sprue. The cost of putting it together is negligible as well since labor is so cheap in China(just check out all the hand painting on a spawn figure that retails for $8.00). Where something like the yamato could become more expensive to produce is if it has parts requiring side pulls which require more sophisticated machines and more time since they cannot be made with the other parts in a single shot. I haven't taken the time to study the manufacturing aspect of the yamato but I doubt there are many side pulls. The quality of the injection molding machines themselves could also drive up the cost but I'm not convinced Yamato has invested the kinda of money to get their parts up to the standard of Bandai or the benchmark, Lego parts. Even if they had invested in better machines and used sidepulls extensively, I have a heard time believing it would drive them to a price point of $135. The fact is they are making a decent return on their investment. There price does make sense from a marketing strategy standpoint. If the valks were $100 were you have bought more. If our minds we say yes, but I don't think so. How many multiples do we really need? You probably would have bought the same number. That extra $35 puts a little more pain in our wallets but it's really isn't enough to deter us. I think $135 is too much for a toy which is why I only have one. But you see, I still got one, so the answer to the question: is it worth it? is yes.
