  1. @Anasazi37 turned me onto 3D printed replacement head lasers and all the details necessary for anyone with a 3D printer to make their own. I made a quick video about it and also included the information in my review on anymoon for people years from now who buy one 'New in box' and discover this issue. Thanks Anasazi! Here's the link to the cults3d page: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/art/replacement-antenna-laser-for-the-bandai-dx-yf-21
  2. Wow that's bewildering. I wonder what could have caused that. Like maybe hand or mold release oils transferred to the cloth and reacted with the dye somehow over a prolonged period of time?
  3. You can't be hung up on any element too much because at the end of the day, if the story is compelling, all the characters and setting can be new with only subtle links to the original(s). I wonder what Macross would have been like if it didn't live in Gundam's shadow. I think so much of what the creators strive to do is stay unique and separate from Gundam.
  4. It's unfortunate how it all went down but I think the best way to think of it is that the pilot figure was a 'early bird preorder bonus' and that the toy naturally will not include a pilot figure going forward. I believe it was confirmed the pilot wasn't included with the light/heavy battlepod set and it sounds like it won't be with the recon pod either. Then, when they start selling a pilot figure (probably a long time from now) they'll reach out to all those original 'supporters' and send them the accessory for free (except for shipping) and put it on the site for purchase for all the people who bought battlepods later to consider.
  5. I think that happens in the movies.
  6. This is where a display stand could really help. There's only so many walking and crouching poses with both feet on the ground. I bet someone will figure out how to 3D print a cradle that could fit between the legs. KC should collaborate with gokinplus.com.
  7. My review of the Battlepod is up. Spoilers.... I love it!
  8. I'll join everyone for a DYRL screening!
  9. That has the vibe of a 3d print that is good to display with a space assault scopedog but may never see the light of day.
  10. I kept refreshing until I could buy one. Seems like we had lots of success for only 30 being available.
  11. Huh, I can't access the page from my phone or computer, says ip blocked. All other pages work.
  12. Yep, I have just the page up on a PDF if you want to download it and then print it. I started updating the page for the VT-1... then I got distracted by the 50th anniversary... then I got distracted by another toy. Sigh.
  13. You mean when Max is dressed like a Zentran guard? Maybe the Zentran have a 'guard' class of huge Zentran to man the brig? More likely, that stuff was all made up by the TV show producers because them escaping by being tiny and fitting through cracks in a poorly maintained ship wasn't exciting enough.
  14. For dramatic purposes, especially in light of how Hikaru would feel as things unfolded, it makes sense in this TV dramatization of 'real life' events, the pilot would be portrayed as being huge.
  15. Well, no matter where we stand on the Beta, they definitely made the Alpha, even if the engineering was taken from Imai.
  16. Yeah, Beagle and MegaHouse don't count. But wait, why would Moshow count then?
  17. Just the delay turned me off.
  18. I'm still waiting on a store I'm comfortable with to offer it. You can get Moshow stuff on amazon so I'm expecting wider availability soon.
  19. That sized pilot would work for me.
  20. Jealous. My 12 year old is working his way through Votoms now and I'm looking forward to doing Macross with him next.
  21. I'm a little shocked it's not available at more places yet, it seems like it could start shipping soon from all the different sample pics.
  22. Correct, Bandai appears to have used the Yammy V2 as its inspiration on the DX VT-1 backpack which is too bad. The statement earlier about the brace making the toy friendlier to handle is a fair point. It would put a lot of pressure on whatever backpack locking mechanism Bandai had chosen if the go-to move is to lift the toy by the boosters in battroid mode. Still, if Bandai ever does release that 1/32 VF-1, I would hope they would go with a locking mechanism rather than a non-canon bracket. It really wouldn't take much engineering. Imagine if there were pegs that went down into the arms in fighter mode that then rotated backward to prevent the backpack from having room to swing back down in battroid.
  23. I finally got an updated invoice and paid for mine. They wanted an additional $90 for expedited shipping so boat it is.
  24. Hmm, I'm not following the problem. The hinge is metal on the DX toy. I would imagine the lock being down at the hinge rather than the up above hook Yamato did. The beauty of the Yamato hook was that it works for a double-hinge. If I were engineering the toy, I would probably put locks on each one of the hinges separately rather than do the hook. Since the backpacks don't weight a ton, the locks don't have to be overly robust. What's kind of crazy is that the original Hi-Metal VF-1 does have a backpack lock, you just press downward on it in battroid mode and it locks into position. Bandai removed it for the Hi-Metal R and didn't even try on the DX.
