Considering that 99% of anime is crap... Would be a pretty big support group. And Geist isn't nearly that bad, there's far far worse out there, like pretty much all of this new season.

Macross Ace Frontier for the PSP.
yellowlightman replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The only VF I'm really looking forward to is the Fire Valkyrie, I'm pretty curious to see how it handles and besides it hasn't been in a video game yet (I'm gonna ignore the GBC game). I plan on picking it up after school Friday, hopefully the Bic Camera near Shibuya station has it or else I'll have to go on a city-wide hunt. -

Considering that Frontier's designs were amateur grade and absolutely terrible, I'm not sure if that's an excuse. Besides, Alto & Co was designed specifically to provide fodder for yaoi doujinshi... Isamu wasn't.

A keychain with a big button on it. You press the button, it plays a recording of a sound or line from the show.

Another *glowing* review of Macross Frontier.
yellowlightman replied to ShizumaRobo's topic in Movies and TV Series
Frontier in the "same vein" as Macross, DYRL and Macross Plus. Yoko Kanno the "master of J-Pop." And that was just the first paragraph! -
Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone
yellowlightman replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Probably has something to do with American anime companies being in the shitter. ADV wasn't selling off it's office furniture for funsies, you know. -
http://www.colonydrop.com/index.php/2008/1...cross-ii?blog=1 Somebody told me it was the "best defense of Macross II" that they've read, although admittedly it was the only defense of Macross II they've read. I think I did alright job hitting on some of the better aspects of the series, although admittedly it is painfully average. Thoughts?

Macross Ace Frontier for the PSP.
yellowlightman replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
If you have the original disc you can convert it to a format playable on the PSP very easily, there's a number of programs that will do it. -
Best way to "invisibly" remove sprue nubs?
yellowlightman replied to David Hingtgen's topic in The Workshop!
Wet sanding might help a bit with the "dulling," but there probably isn't a perfect option unless you start painting. -
Yeah, considering some of the stuff that passes a "good" in anime nowadays. MD Geist is by no means great, but it's not as awful and certainly not even close to being one of the worst anime titles. Plus the design rocked of Geist's armored suit rocked and it has a guy getting stabbed in the head with a knife attached to a grenade.

Not sure why you insist on the Tezuka straw man, but it's not really relevant and doesn't change the fact that Taekwon V is still a shameful rip-off.

There's a difference in being influenced by the style of Disney films and taking a Go Nagai robot design and just slapping a new head on it. The CG looks pretty good though.

Holy crap! Robotech BGM on the Late Show!
yellowlightman replied to Macrossmaster's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I always thought I was the only who felt that way. Robotech's BGM is awesome. -

Is the screen really that improved? I don't think I've ever once found myself unsatisfied by the 2000-series' screen. -
Macross, You & Days Before the Internet
yellowlightman replied to Roy Focker's topic in Movies and TV Series
I don't remember the exact chronology, but I definitely discovered Robotech and anime in general back around 5th/6th grade back in the mid 90's. Started renting Robotech tapes and then my neighbors showed me Bubblegum Crisis which blew my mind. I became aware of Macross (and the other original series) through an article in the back of a Robotech comic discussing the roots of Robotech and an article in an issue of Anime UK. Watched Macross Plus for the first time on a projector at a local anime club and it blew me away. Managed to get copies of Macross 7 unsubbed from a shady video store in San Francisco's Japantown and found a copy of Kiseki's UK release of DYRL in a comic book shop. Before I had internet access at home I remember spending afternoons surfing the web at my Mom's office looking for stuff about Macross. Particularly remember liking the Macross Mecha Designs site. Looking back makes me nostalgic, to be so young and so amazed by all this new anime I was discovering. Being a fan back then before the internet was like having this huge world in front of you, but not being able to see all of it. Every little thing you bought or new discovery made was important and significant. Now I'm older and bitter and can walk into any store in Bumf*ck Nowhere, USA and buy more anime than I could ever want. -

Tytania. Coming October 2008!
yellowlightman replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That's pretty much it... It looks to be another LoGH. For people who want that same kind of epic story, you should probably be excited. For people looking for action or a giant robot series... you're going to be disappointed. -
The computer and electronics super geek superthread...
yellowlightman replied to EXO's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yeah, that would actually be fine for my needs... but I'd need some sort of amp to plug the A/V cables into, right? Anyways, I'll probably be looking to spend $200 or so on the monitor and ideally less than $200 on the sound system. The problem is that a lot of electronics just cost more here, so I'm having to shop around a bit. -

I'm about 6ft and Cospa's M sizes fit me pretty well. I might be skinnier than you, but I'm guessing unless you're really big around a XL will probably be okay.

Macross Ace Frontier for the PSP.
yellowlightman replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
My bad, I wasn't even aware there was a new motherboard in the 2000-series. But as you said it's just a matter of time, eventually the hackers will get around it. And it either case it won't matter when it comes to Ace Frontier, but I honestly couldn't see the value in buying a PSP that couldn't be hacked. The ability to play home brew stuff adds a lot to the system. -
That's probably the best part... That a lot of the people on here arguing for his defense probably already knew he was on thin ice, but are still willing to plead that he's completely innocent and that "being a big Macross fan" makes up for everything.

I didn't get one either, which is too bad. That was my plane ticket to Taiwan this winter.
