Yeah, it's moe + Konami's same old lame power up system you got tired of 15 years ago. There's a touch screen aspect, although from what I played it was only used during boss battles. The special arcade stick they're releasing for it has a touch panel to retain that feature.

You couldn't, because it wasn't. The first half of the movie was obviously shot for shot, but if the second half of the movie made it pretty clear things are going to be different. On one hand as an Eva fan I know I'll go see the new movies no matter what, on the other hand it's really really lame they're remaking the same poo. Anno has had two chances to make this series, he doesn't need a third. They should be spending this money on something else.

And to take a break from indulging A7's OCD... Found this gorgeous car on a side street here in Tokyo while walking around this weekend. One nice thing about Japan's ridiculous annual inspection laws is that usually when you see an old car it's absolutely pristine. The owner didn't seem to be around so I couldn't ask him for any details.

PC Engine and PC-98 stuff. I would absolutely love it if they did that though, lots of cool designs that barely got any attention. Not to mention I have kind of an odd fascination with the "forgotten" part of the Macross continuity.

There's no way they won't be releasing Frontier books, given the series' popularity. The Macross Zero point is valid, but that's going to be a small amount of the material in the magazines, does it really justify the cost?

I'm really kid of amazed at the prices people are dropping for these things. Consider individually the issues don't have much of value, and it'll take a while for you to complete the set (at a significant price), I think most people would be better off putting that money towards proper art books from the series.

Musume means daughter, or girl. So more likely than not it's probably just a card set dedicated to the female characters, opposed to freaky half moe/half mecha abominations.

I like the Patlabor-esque head on that one. It's also surprisingly not that ugly, which is probably why it didn't make it into SC.

Well, the 360 is becoming the place for shooters, true to form as it's the least popular system in Japan.

JBO is right, the upgrade mechanic in Gradius is unfun and it's obnoxious it's still used in games (see Otomedius). I'm not a big fan of Namco shooters for that reason, as it absolutely punishes you for dying and you have no real hope of coming back. I much prefer a shooter like Dodonpachi that is difficult and requires skill, without feeling cheap or broken.

I spent a year living in LA and really disliked it. It's a nice place to visit, but it's too spread out and getting places is a bitch because of traffic. The truth is it's not a big city, just a bunch of small ones crammed together. On one hand it's cool because there's so much stuff, on the other hand it sucks because so spread out. Really it depends on what kind of city experience you want, I know lots of people who love the place.
