  1. Because fansubbers are too busy stumbling over themselves to sub the same stupid moe anime ten times over.
  2. I think so, but they won't give you as much money if you dont have the case/manual. Which is BS because of course they charge the same when you buy it... but that's why Gamestop sucks.
  3. The last phase of an argument with Sketchley: when he gets desperate enough to argue semantics.
  4. At least a couple MW members will be at the Kawamori event. Here's the page in english: http://www.tiff-jp.net/en/lineup/works.php?id=238
  5. Would just be nice if you bothered to read posts before going into your "I know everything" routine.
  6. Try reading what I wrote. I stated it was a short strip about building VF-1 kits.
  7. Granted I probably don't pay as much attention to young children as you do, but I've never seen any school uniforms with a vest and tie.
  8. Yeah, the beam gun on the VF-17 is quite nice. I much prefer it to the regular gunpods as it's easier to hit targets with and you tend to not waste as much fire by adjusting your fire arc.
  9. Here's a weird one for old school anime fans. I picked up a Kenichi Sonada book today, a collection of various short comics he did in the 80's. Mostly stuff like Gall Force, a couple short Bubblegum Crisis comics. But waaaaay in the back there's a short one that caught my eye because it had a VF-1 in it. Turns out it was done for the "Bandai Technical Guide" and looks to be a short guide on how to build VF-1 model kits, starring a couple girls who do a pretty bad job of it. I don't think I'll be able to scan it, but I'll try and take some decent pictures of it tomorrow with the sunlight.
  10. Common? Uh, maybe 60 years ago... but that doesn't look like any school uniform I've ever seen here. Far too fancy.
  11. My secret has been the 2+ hours I spend on the train per day, the short missions make it easy to bust out the PSP and play a few games on my commute. Is there a secret to doing the specials? It seems like sometimes I can pull them off fine, but sometimes I have to mash the buttons a few times to get them to work... and sometimes they don't seem to want to work at all. Yes, the special bar is full when this happens.
  12. Yeah, I ended up tweaking the point balances on the VF-1D and took Britai out really quickly with a team special attack. Anyone else finding the SDF Macross path missions a bit harder? I'm not sure if it's because I was used to the more powerful M+/M7 mecha, but I've had a much harder time scoring A's and S's than I did when playing through M7 or M+.
  13. Just got back from Tokyo Game Show... and it sucked. Crowds were absolutely massive, wait times on the demos for any vaguely interesting game were at least an hour... some upwards of three hours. The smell was terrible and so many slack-jawed, mouth-breathing super losers apparently came over from overseas for it was like being back at Anime Expo, minus the women and anyone who looked like they were capable of regular social interaction. Unless I can get a press or industry pass next year I'll definitely be giving it a pass. The huge crowds, time it takes to get out of Tokyo and insane lines just aren't worth it for a few demos you'll be able to play at home in a little while anyways.
  14. Currently trying to beat the First Contact level in the SDF Macross path, and its easily the worst level I've played thus far in the game. Super strong unarmored Zentradi who throw tons of grenades that knock you over. Indoors levels made inherently more difficult by twitchy control and lock-on that stays on dead enemies for too long. And the best part is Britai continually spamming his melee attack and flying through the air like a wu-xia warrior knocking my Valkyrie to the ground.
  15. Anyone else encountered a bug on the SDF1 level of the Macross Plus path? Both times I've played the level the control goes wonky and the inputs act oppositely as they should, pressing left makes me turn right, up makes me go up, etc. It's fixed easily enough my transforming, but it seems like a weird thing to have happen twice.
  16. I believe the suits from Crash were different, probably because of the legal issues that caused the end of Bubblegum Crisis. It's hard to get solid info on it, but Bubblegum Crisis was originally owned by two companies, ARTMIC and Youmex. Disagreements between the two of them caused Crisis to end short of it's intended 13 episode length. I suspect the suits were changed was just a typical mid-series upgrade, keeping in mind that Crisis was supposed to run for another five episode after Scoop Chase.
  17. Enzo Ferrari started off by racing Alfa's... so who cares what color they are. Alfa's today are still gorgeous, but they haven't been able to perform competitively in decades. As for the sexiest Alfa... no way, it's still the T33:
  18. I've never understood the fanrage over a game changing from an exclusive to a multi-platform title. Sure, if it wasn't coming out on the original console at all I could understand... but if it's coming out for multiple systems, who cares? That said... it's Tekken 6 and just like Final Fantasy XIII I'm left wondering why anyone would care about either series at this point.
  19. You like it better than the PS2 version, really? Granted, it has more stuff to unlock... but the gameplay is just so... plain. The missions rarely consist of anything more than shoot this, shoot this, shoot this, mission complete. Most of the difficulty in the levels comes from inherent problems in the game itself; such as the levels being too small, or the shoddy control and poor camera making indoors levels a chore. For a licensed anime game it's not bad, but it's still not anything great. If it didn't have the Macross name attached to it, it wouldn't be worth anybody's time.
  20. I was trying to find some reference pictures as all my books with color BGC art are far, far away... amazing how hard it is to find decent BGC pictures online, considering how popular it used to be. Anyways, there were two versions of the Hard Suits used in the original OAV. The blue/pink suit is the original hard suit design, the red/pink is the second that was shown in episode 8. What makes it confusing is that 2040 used the same designs as the second version, so the same designs were used in both episode 8 of the original OAV and the TV series.
  21. Really nice build, man. I don't think I've ever seen one of these done before as a model. Was there a conversion kit or did you do it from scratch?
  22. That metallic version actually looks pretty good, to the point that I might be tempted to pick it up.
  23. It's about as I expected... boring gameplay with enough stuff to unlock to keep you coming back. Controls and lock-on are poor, but only really cause a problem on the indoor levels. Judging it purely as a game it's not very good, but Macross fans will like it a lot because of all the Valkyries, music, etc.
  24. No, although I'm not sure what this has to do with anything... aside from your need to constantly make snarky, irrelevant posts.
