I don't know if they are planning for a Masterpiece combiner while Combiner Wars is still on the shelfs. I don't know what percentage of Takaras TF revenue comes from collectors but I think they want to sell as many CW toys as possible.- 17164 replies

Maybe MMC is willing to take a shot on IDW Chromedome. They are releasing an IDW Impactor so they are at least looking at other Autobot characters. However I would prefer more Decepticons.- 9279 replies

Gundam Figure Thread - Newtype GN-002

I can't wait for the Red Frame and and a Blue Frame that is not just a clone. On a side note I assume that the Metal Build figures don't get reissued ever. I feel a real strong itch for the Gundam 00 suits but they are all crazy expensive for the most parts.- 6025 replies

My order with HLJ that I made during their buggy oder system went through also, Gold Frame payed for. This will be a hell of a month: VF-1J GBP, VF-19 Advanced, VF-171EX Ver. Itasha and the Gold Frame. I'm glad I don't have anything on preorder for July.- 6025 replies

Maybe you could get someone here on the board to model a head laser and print it out with Shapeways. I'm certain that you can make it indistinguishable from an original one with all your painting skills. I don't know if that would be more expensive that order one from NY where you're screwed if something is wrong with the toy. Of course I have hidden agenda because I try to find someone that will model a VF-25 hip joint for me that I can print in metal through Shapeways, because I broke one of mine. Maybe I should start teaching myself some 3d modeling skills. That seems quite useful in the coming age of 3d printers. I tried to model something with 3DVIA Shape (http://www.3dvia.com/products/3dvia-shape/) but I don't know if this is a good tool for the task especially if I don't seem to be able to export a finished model. I leave it at that because I don't want to derail the thread any further. My VF-19 ADVANCE is sitting at NY and is waiting for the Itasha VF-171EX getting released.

Peaugh has the two testshots for Unique Toys Ordin (Not Abominus) and uploaded two videos that show the transformation and the cobination into Ordin After the project was first revealed I mistook if for a new MMC combiner because it was so different from their first combine Warlord. After it was clear that the combiner is in fact from Unique Toys I was quite impressed in the jump in quality and aesthetics from their previous offerings (and I was sad that we didn't get an MMC Abominus). Especially after the first bot (Troll aka Blot) I was blown away by the transformation. It was creative, all the parts locked into place and from the video it looked like the plastic was high quality also. After the second bot (Alberich aka Rippersnapper) I thought that the arm mode was clever with the hidden elbow joint and the way they dealt with the thighs as forearms problem. I was disappointed from the fact that the beast mode arms had no place to hide or at least peg in. Also the rectangular shape in all three modes was a strange fallback into the dark and much simpler Warlord times. From there on out the project went downhill fast. Sinnertwin was a weird box with bolted on limbs, Cutthroat has additional parts sticking out all over his body with no where to go and Hun-Gurrr had some strange proportions in the two necks of his twin heads as well as a pretty boxy stature. Plus all the chest and waist bits are not integrated into Hun-Gurrr. Now I can understand that they went for the G1 toon design and my favorite combiner MMCs Feral Rex has so cons as well (like similar transforming limbs) but I think that Feral Rex did the combining beasts motive much better. Another point might be that Troll seems like a genuine awesome transforming toy. What do you think now that all the parts are out? Am I overly critical? I would be interested in your opinions because I don't own any of the toys and I'm just a spectator form afar. Man I wish MMC would do a Abominus and Piranacon combiner instead of their Studio Ox line.- 9279 replies

I got my first Super Robot Chogokin and order from Mandarake today. It was SRC GaoGaiGar and Key of Victory set 1 (Goldymarg). At first I was a bit surprised by the size but after I held the toy in my hands that was gone because it feels like a high quality toy. Some of the joints are a bit loose (no chance of holding the hammer up or preform a Broken Magnum with Goldymarg equipped). He is super fun to play with. I was bummed at first because I had to pass on the SoC GaoGaiGar but he wouldn't have room in my collection anyway. I think I will try to get more of the GGG SRCs to create a diorama. A quick search on Mandarake revealed that Mic Sounders seems pretty hard to get and the combined symmetric robots seem quite expensive. I think I will settle for the three main mecha for now. Not to repeat all the stuff that was already said but I find the proportions between the tights and the waist a bit weird. Either the waist is too small or the thighs are too bulbous. I'm also a bit disappointed that the Protect Shade is so flimsy (I already pushed in the part where the hand goes in resulting in stress marks. Also I'd preferred it if the eyes where painted in. They are super tiny though.

The YF-25 looks pretty sick with the blue Super Parts. I think I need to get one because I have a spare set of VF-25G Super Parts after I got the Tornado Parts. I wonder if I could deal with the wrong call sign on the parts. I also display my Messiahs with the shoulder pads up because I think the look too lithe otherwise. -
I know that the EU doesn't exists. So would the fact that the Empire is still in charge in the new Star Wars movie could be a "famous" JJ story twist? I would welcome that change. The movies about the Galactic Republic where rather dull.

I wonder why this is the Rebel Alliance Livery. I thought they dethroned the Empire and established a new senate on Coruscant. I guess that means that the remnants of the Empire are still in charge.

I love how clean the underbelly of Bandais VF-19 looks (until the last third where the arms are). I was unsure at first why the chest tubes transform in such a complicated way but not it is clear. It is also neat to see that the crotch plate fits so nicely in Fighter-Mode.

If I'd be into CW Devastator I would go with the Unite version. The one reason is the painted chain mount on Bonecrusher. I also don't understand why HasTak opted for not remolding the Alpha Bravo mold in any way. It would be easy for Blades to switch the missiles for something less militaristic. On Vortex the could have included a cannon that rests on the back of the lower legs or bulk out the helicopter to differentiate it from Alpha Bravo/Blades. Also Blast Off is not a jet! Warbot Ron is clearly the superior toy!- 17164 replies

I still don't understand why they opted against molding some nubs into the bars with slots in the wings so that the wing is locked in the three main positions. Maybe it was just to much variable geometry in the wing. In my opinion it would have suffice to have a locking point for Battroid-Mode only because there the wings are perpendicular to the ground.
-
I'm not sure that the wing hinges would allow for a high-speed mode. It seems to me that Bandai just implemented a different mechanism for the wing swing than the V1 YF-19 and the VF-19 by Yamato.

I agree with Graham. I will be in for one. If it is solid maybe a whole squad. However there should be an option for the SAP packs in the future (even better packed in a bundle from the start). The SAP pack has so many play options that I can deal with small inconstancies. Tokyo Toy Show is this week so we see hopefully more pictures of the Valkyrie. However I would appreciate if it doesn't get released in August because there is the VF-0A in stores at the same time. So any delay is welcome.

I started to build the RG Justice Gundam and I was shocked to discover that they didn't include foil stickers for the head camera, the transparent fin and the gun sight. Is there a type of Gundam Marker that makes coloring these parts in a translucent blue easy?

They send out the payment request when the item enters your private warehouse (or is in stock). You than have three days to pay the item. At least that is the way for private warehouse items (where all my stuff goes at first). You can cancel the preorder without any repercussions before the request is send. After you received the request you have to pay otherwise they will cancel your account. After the item is in your private warehouse you can still cancel it but you will get back store credit and they won't refund the whole price. The one time I cancel an item in my warehouse they only refunded me 80% of the item. Luckily it was only a 600 Yen toy.

I had the same issue with my Arcadia VF-1S Hikaru Custom. I glued it back on. On mine it seems that there was not enough glue to keep it in place. Compared with my three Yamato Valkyries many of my Arcadia toys all have some sort of small flaws. Besides the fin that fell off I have a missing paint application for the navigation light on one tail fin, misaligned intake markings and a thruster that was glued in faulty and fell out. On my YF-19 and VF-1S Focker Custom I haven't found any errors. I also found several places with super glue mist but nothing visible. Reports about not properly glued in fins and discolored parts on the GBP are a bummer on the prices Arcadia demands for their toys. Can someone with more experience tell if those small issues where less common on the Yamato releases? It is a shame that the

I don't understand why the combiner arms still have the arm robot thighs as forearms and the hips as elbow joints. MMC (Feral Rex) and Unique Toys (Ordin) have shown ideas how to implement better solutions but haven't developed the ideas further. I also don't understand why the arms of not-Blastoff just hang there in arm mode with no locking tabs (or did I missed something?) But how do you like Warbotron? I think the idea with the trailer that forms the lower legs was a great idea but overall I think that the toy looks too busy. How do you like the massive silver combiner parts on the Toyworld bot? Personally I'm looking forward to the MMC version of the studio Ox Guardian. I love their Feral Rex so I want to see what new combiner tech they introduce. I'm really bummed that they didn't tackle Piranacon or Abominus in the Feral Rex aesthetic.- 9279 replies

I'm searching for some items on Mandarake to get around the 500 Yen service fee for orders under 5k. I have two Tiger and Bunny S.H.Figuarts toys (Origami Cyclone and Blue Rose) and thought about getting Wild Tiger and Barnaby Brooks Jr. Is there anything to be aware of regarding defects or breakages for those two figures? I think I remember some breakage on the first release of Wild Tiger (I think it was something about his legs). I saw several versions of the two like the one minute exclusive, Darkness Bunny, Movie edition and so on. Can anyone recommend a version of those two characters?

Sorry for the off topic: quick question about ordering from Mandarake. I'm thinking about ordering an item. To get around the 500 Yen handling fee I'd like to add another item to my order but the one I'm interested in is from another store location. Can I combine the two items in one order?

I don't understand why the gunpods of the VF-1 and VF-0 have extra parts so that the handle can collapse and no one had the idea to implement a similar mechanism to keep the gun of the Y/VF-19 level.

I'd be up for some DYRL Super Strike Packs and a DYRL VF-1S Max and VF-1A Kakizaki to complete my Arcadia DYRL Skull Squadron.

Gundam Figure Thread - Newtype GN-002

So I asked the HLJ customer service about the Gold Frame order window that went up and if my order (that is listed now on my preorders is valid). This is the response I got: This might be interesting for the other board members that got an preorder in. So I'm not sure I should keep my preorder with BBTS. I guess as long as one item becomes available before the other I can safely cancel the excess order. I would prefer to go with HLJ because it is cheaper and I assume HLJ would have it available first because they are based of Japan and BBTS have to wait till their shipment arrive. I could also cancel the BBTS preorder since some of the Metal Build and Fix Figuration are still available and hope the Gold Frame will meet the same fate. Any opinions?- 6025 replies
