Macross Δ (Delta) - NYE Special Talkback - READ 1st POST
Scyla replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
I don't know why but the preview episode had a Macross Plus vibe to it. Maybe it is due to the fact that it is set on a planet and that they are similar to the New Edwards Airbase on Eden. Also the dogfights are part of that vibe. I'm calling it now. The Flower Girl from M7 is the mysterious Lady M. [edit:] Good catch with the gun-pod Graham. Here is the magazine cover. It seems that the gun on the container is the same as the gun-pod that the VF-31 holds in the image: -

I still have my hopes up that MakeToys will make an appropriate Dreadwind and Darkwing in their masterpiece line. Maybe they can do an F-16 and Tornado transforming robot that actual look like the jets. [edit:] I hope the subscription service is able to release the Armada Skywarp figure teased at Botcon before their license gets pulled by Hasbro.- 17164 replies

Shogo Hasui said that he wanted to work in CW Devastator because he figured that this would be the only opportunity for him to work on a Masterpieceish Devastator. So he tried to incorporate as many ideas he had for Masterpiece Devastator into the CW toy. I don't think this would make a Masterpiece Devastator impossible but highly unlikely as long as Hasui works for Takara.- 17164 replies

I've found a picture with a CW Superion size comparison: I don't want to make Feral Rex better than he is. He has definitely some issues and some people are thoroughly disappointed by him. Feral Rex has been available for a while so I don't think you need to hurry if you go for him. Please keep in mind that I'm a massive MMC fanboy and I don't want to persuade you into buying him because I don't want someone spend half a grand and be disappointed with his purchase. Do some research into the topic and see if the toy has characteristics that you like in transforming toys. The other offerings also have pros (well Ares doesn't ) so you need to be sure Feral Rex is the Predaking for you.- 9279 replies

I personally would say Warlord is not worth it. I have enough of looking at thigh forearms and staring at crotches for the legs. Feral Rex is the best package all around you can enjoy looking at it, playing with it and transforming it in all modes with all members. You get the feeling that your money was worth it. With Warlord you can look at it. But as David said it was their first release and their Mania King release is worlds better than any bot from Warlord. I don't know what kind of collector you are but it would bug me to no end to look at the overspray on Divebombs chest. If you are the collector that wants to look at the combined Predaking on the shelf you might be happy with Warlord. If you want to play with them you should go for Feral Rex. I also think that Warlord fits better with the Generations line prior to Combiner Wars in style and I think that Feral Rex would look better with the Combiner Wars toys. Take from that what you will but I think the experience you get from Warlord is not worth the reduced price. Holding the Feral Rex Members in hand you can feel that you got your moneys worth. As I said maybe the Platinum Edition G1 Predaking would be an alternative. Besides the posability he is not that different from CW. I understand that this is a lot of money so you should do some research. Look up some reviews for the toys and decide for yourself if they are worth it. Just don't watch Optibotimus' review because I don't think he is honest and never finished reviewing it. Whatever you do: don't bother looking at Ares! [edit:] As far as alternatives go. MT Quantron was on sale for Black Friday for $250 which in my opinion is totally worth it. Sadly the MakeToys/FansProject style doesn't go well with anything out there besides their own products. . You might keep your money and wait for another sale.- 9279 replies

After seeing the preview episode of Macross Delta I'm hoping they do the Sailor Scouts idols as S.H.Figuarts. They would look awesome on the shelves in front of the Delta Squadron.

I still hope the VF-171 we saw in the preview episode is a placeholder for something else.

I think Feral Rex is the best looking combiner out there and most definitely the best Predaking released by a independent robot toy company. I think MMC is pretty good when it comes to doing reruns of the different releases so you should be able to order all 5 (6) members from sources like BBTS. A few points to keep in mind for Feral Rex. As much as I love the toy the hip design is not its best part. They use the Leo Dux hips and bulk it out with a diaper that does not lock in solidly so every time you have to pose him you have to rearrange the hip armor. Also keep in mind that the feet are a bit unstable on smooth surfaces like a glass table without some rubber padding on the feet. They included some with Felisaber but if you don't have any interest in a 6th member you have to come up with a own solution. Also the legs and the arms are pretty similar toys in terms of transformations. Also the back cannons on Leo Dux are the only point that sticks out as not up to par. They are the only part on the toy that is chromed (no chipping yet) are a bit smallish and don't lock in their extended combiner mode as good as the rest of the combiner. Besides from this the toy is a blast. MMC was able to pull off a superb looking combiner where each member is roughly the same size without partsforming. Especially with Felisaber you only have to attach the limps onto the torso and that is it because Talon is stored in the back. Even the hip armor can stay on Leo Dux if you want to. The individual weapons combine to an fierce looking sword and a accurate looking arm cannon. Feral Rex can even do two handed sword poses. Eveything locks together great no dangling arms of the individual bots no thigh gaps in the forearms. Great build quality all around. Even if something should break MMC distributes replacement parts free of charge. Even if the toy is expensive it should be a save investment. Some more positive points. The individual bots are great toys and fun to play with. Awesome articulation all around in all three modes. Leo Dux has a well proportioned chest lion head due to the way the mane transforms. The combiner feet are well implemented into the play pattern (mortar cannons for the leg bots). Please take everything I say with a grain of salt because I'm a massive MMC fanboy. To me they can't do wrong with their releases. Another idea would be to buy the Platinum Edition of the G1 Predaking which seems like a fine toy to me. TL:DR SWORD!!!!!- 9279 replies

Is the VF-171EX confirmed as the cannon fodder Valkyrie for Delta? I'm not to keen on seeing it again but it could be possible that it is only a standin for now since they had not finished the CF Fighter for the deadline. I'm not getting my hopes up but I find it odd that they use a white VF-171 since this color belonged to a special forces squadron in Frontier. I'd love to see another new Valkyrie for this series. -
I just gave it that name because it seems fitting.

I really liked it. Dr. Chiba would be proud. Sadly no sweet J-Rock music. I hope they use the remaining time till the show (hopefully the first of several season) starts to work on the CG of the mecha. They could use some polish. Other than that I'm satisfied but I like Macross 7 the most. Take from that what you will. Love the new Valkyries. If the DX toys are done well they should offer a lot of play value and variability so that you don't feel too bad about buying multiples. Not too keen on the head turret of the Shinigami VF-31 looks too smooth. Almost like the head turret of the RVF-25 took to an extreme. I have to wait and see a detailed render or the toy to finally decide that. Probably my least favorite design after the VF-4G. I'm still hyped. -
A few more screen caps: The RVF-31 has no stage as a container but rather a radar dish where the idols dance upon: Since you can see planet between the legs/engines I assume it can transform into a rectangle. An image of the boomerang launchers in the rear fuselage of the Shinigami VF-31: Looks like the DX toy will have lot of play value especially since the VF-31 has a high-speed mode where the forward swept wings fold down: I'm really looking forward to all the VF-31 toys. With the different containers and the different head design and lots of movable parts it will look awesome. I'm super interested in how the mid-season upgrades will look like.

Dancing Valkyries.... cute. -
Wouldn't it be fun if the magnet was installed in the wrong direction and it would flick the idol 10 feet away. You could trade your faulty Valkyrie with someone who hates the idea of idols playing a major role in Macross.

Wouldn't it be cool if they DX Chogokin releases include small figures of the idols that can be placed on the Valkyries through hidden magnets?

At this point I would say Arcadia should stick with the minimal tampo printings. While I personal despise this choice It would look out of place with all the new Aracadia releases. Keep it consistent!

To be fair the movie hasn't started in China yet so that might give it an additional boost.

Finally saw the movie and I think I still prefer the OT but TFA is clearly a better movie than the prequels. My main problem with the movie is that I think it is totally unnecessary because: I'm sure that I will see the movie a second time (maybe in 2D) and I really enjoyed watching all the puppets, costumes, practical effects and real sets which gave the movie a sense of realism and timelessly appearance that makes the OT great movies even to this date. I'm sure I will be able to enjoy TFA down the line. I really hope that Disney is greedy enough to release the OT unaltered on Blu-Ray since I don't want to deal with this CGI bullshit and downloading the despecialized edition through a torrent is too dangerous in my country. I'm looking forward to Episode VIII.
