  1. Sadly most likely. Even if small somewhere on screen. No it wouldn't be cool. It's like whatever your favorite series is and another director/company coming in and saying their creations are part of that universe. It really sucked in Star Trek to see the Alias red orb and the drink reference to that horror movie (which I still haven't seen) in the club. My feelings on Abrams directing even though he said he wasn't going to in the beginning. I think he's the best choice for success and profits. The only better choices would be Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, or Joss Whedon. Abrams will definitely have cool scenes in the movie. And as I mentioned in the Star Trek thread, the reboot is more Star Wars than Star Trek. I do like Abrams excitement for projects. In the commentary for Mission: Impossible III you can tell he likes this stuff. How he had to do the Top Gun shot of Cruise and that bridge scene with the car spinning in the air. But it still isn't a good Mission: Impossible movie but that's another discussion. And making a classic movie is more than putting together exciting scenes. After all the prequels do have cool scenes. If Abrams really is a fan of the originals, I hope he isn't just taking a guaranteed million + paycheck but saying, I have to get this right because original trilogy fans were let down by the prequels and I don't want to go down that path. So, I'm kind of happy about this choice because I know at least it will be exciting and Abrams will want to live up to those classic original movies.
  2. This looks really cool. I've never heard of it. I'll put it on my list to watch soon. Slaginpit posted the image of that really expensive version. I was tempted but it seemed to be more display piece than model/toy. Someone should make an affordable version and come out with statues of Mia and the others too. Yeah, I've wanted Priss on her Motoslave or the Highway Star for the longest. There was a model of the Highway Star too in one of the B-Club books. I thought about getting the metallic version. But it's just a more expensive yet metallic paint version of the same toy. It really should be a larger scale model. Mighty Orbots is another Japanese show. I would like a model of the flying hovercraft ship that the Orbots Commander uses. Also, Bo and Boo statues. They were cute. We still don't have a complete DVD release of that show. Yeah, this is one of those statues that goes too far. I think it's beautiful too. Just like the artwork. But I could never own this one. I have a Mai statue that's pretty good. The face could be better. I can't remember the producing company's name but she's posed during her spin move. My list. Some mentioned by others, I'm sure I'm forgetting some too: 1. Deunan. We still don't have a good statue version. The Hot Toys version was tempting but I want something similar to the quality of the Vice/Alter Motoko statue. 2. Rook's Cyclone. We almost got this one but were sadly let down. 3. Dana's Hovercycle. I found an old kit of it a month or so ago. But I want something large scale and detailed. 4. Axelay ship from the videogame. Still the best shooter to me. 5. Captain Power Jet. The toy didn't really look like what was in the animated cartoon. 6. Gatchaman OVA God Phoenix. 7. Original Kei and Yuri Dirty Pair statues. 8. The Galaxy Rangers jet. I thought this show was making a come back. There was talk about a comic and toys/statues. But I guess interest or money stopped that. Even the site is down.
  3. I like the pose on the Banpresto one but the face is a bit soft if I remember correctly. There are so many statues of Revy out. I have the Alter and Jun Planning versions. Got them before the prices went crazy. I really like the winter costume with the tights and skirt on the Jun Planning version. Cool costume design that should be used more in real life. There is this Wonder Festival version that we never got. It looks pretty good too.
  4. I found this Revy statue last night after hearing about the manga restarting. It's an unpainted kit. I hope they make a painted version later in the year. I already have two Revy statues but they are both cool.
  5. Speaking of Ghost in the Shell. Has anyone seen the 3D version of Solid State Society? How is it? I doesn't look like it's going to be released in the States.
  6. I thought that the SAC Motoko design and overall feel was closer to the manga. I can't remember who, but one of the creative people once said that the movies were too Blade Runner I believe. Since no one posted it yet here is the full new Motoko design. I think it might be ok if this is the origin of Motoko and depending on the world design. And yeah, that Cyberpunk 2077 trailer is bad ass. It should be awesome going by reviews on their last game.
  7. That's what my original guess was too. Ha ha. I'll check it out tonight.
  8. Need a better scan of the new Motoko. Looks more cartoonish from the small picture. The change of primary people is strange. But I think the three SAC and the two movies are pretty much perfect anyway.
  9. Tempting. Will watch to see what price it goes for. I can't remember the episode this is from. Any guesses? I think it's one when she's talking to Rand.
  10. Seeing the Gunbuster thread made me remember this Noriko statue. Anyone know if this statue was released? Or just a kit? I think it's the best one. It would be nice if we got a statue from Shunya Yamashita too.
  11. You pre-ordered a statue and don't know the character's series? Wow. Hint, it starts with an X.
  12. I didn't know this. So much for people hoarding these figures for MIB future value if they are removed in the future and damaged because they are sticking to the plastic. That would make for a funny episode of Toy Hunter.
  13. I picked up the Batgirl Black suit version before prices get crazy like the Blue suit version. I missed a good price on Huntress. Looking for another shot. Yeah, they should be fit not overly muscled. The Adam Hughes Cover Girls of the DC Universe Black Canary is a good example with her legs. You can see her fitness through the fishnets. I don't like any of the Power Girl statues so far. I have a feeling we'll get a Adam Hughes version from Sideshow Toys after he finishes Wonder Woman, Catwoman, and whoever else he is working on.
  14. I saw that last night and thought the price was a joke. I've never seen Japanese cels priced that high. I don't think even Macross Mikimoto sketches get anywhere near that amount.
  15. Nothing Macross related. But I might get an old cartoon. I just found out that there is a German Saber Rider Ultimate set that's remastered. It also has the unaired episodes. So I might get that. I'm looking for reviews and translating the ones on the German Amazon.
  16. That paragraph is strange seeing that it was Kirk who wanted to rescue the survivors at the end of the big battle and Spock who said "not this time" or something like that.
  17. That’s probably just another thing they messed up. Or perhaps they want us to think as soon as the ship arrives in Kirk’s time, things change since Nero was there for a while waiting. At least that’s what I understand from other posts mentioning the books and comics. The Star Trek timeline thing is messy. But the main point that says this was the original timeline before the whole time travel thing is the fact that they use the time travel thing and Spock. They wanted this to be legitimate and not just a new origin story or alternate universe from the beginning. It's just a messy movie. Because at the core when you do these time travel things, it shouldn't be to reboot or setup a film property but to tell a good story. I read something once that I can't remember exactly now about the point of "City on the Edge of Forever." It wasn't about going back in time it was about a moral choice of allowing a good person to die so that a good future would exist. There is nothing even remotely similar in the new Star Trek. It's simply save the Earth from the bad guys. Maybe Red Letter Media? http://redlettermedi...kett/star-trek/
  18. I wonder how many characters Hot Toys will redo at the 1/4 scale? Do they have any big toy related conventions coming up overseas with possible announcements?
  19. Real buying power. Hmm. It's not the Beagle version of Rook's Ride Armor/Cyclone. And I have no clue what else it could be that would need real "buying power." Most of these toys/models are in the $200 range. That you can save up for. Unless somehow a company is making a real version of a cyclone bike. But that would be crazy.
  20. It could have been young Kirk, young Scotty, and original Spock. Maybe they get young Spock involved at the end with old Spock's ship. Or even McCoy as a nod to the classic group of Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. Then when things are fixed, we see the voyage of the Enterprise we never saw after the TV show ended. These are all just quick ideas but they (director, producers, etc) had it out to want to see young Kirk and crew on the Enterprise and be faithful to the original series. Which you really can't do without the alternate universe since we've seen the original series and know of young Kirk's adventures before the Enterprise and once on the Enterprise. It was supposed to be the original. You would be guessing at events we didn't see on screen. My post above goes into this a bit.
  21. But the alternate reality/new timeline starts when the Narada goes back in time and attacks the Kelvin. Original Spock doesn't seem to care that this isn't a normal (whatever that would mean) alternate situation but something started by the black hole and the Romulans. It is something that could have been fixed.
  22. I don't know if anyone mentioned it here, but I was searching Sideshow's site and found out that Hot Toys is making a 1/4 scale Batman figure from Dark Knight Rises. I need to search around some more. I wonder if this is a one off thing or if they are going to do more popular characters in both scales.
  23. Ok. There are a few people on The RPF looking for a Quorra poster image that was released at a low resolution. No one seems to be able to locate a high resolution image or poster for it.
  24. My opinions on Star Trek are coming from a fan of the series. I'll be the first to tell you that all of the Next Generation movies sucked. With these things I think you need to know if a person likes Star Trek, has seen all the movies, etc. So, my opinion has a bit more weight than the average person saying this trailer sucks and then you find out they never liked Star Trek in the first place. Star Trek doesn't have to be boring and corny. The only thing Abrams did was turn Star Trek into Space Action Movie with characters that just happen to be named after classic Star Trek characters. And on the Star Trek 2009 time travel thing that was mentioned a lot on the last page. It is horrible when you have a character that has gone back in time multiple times (Spock) with a ship that has a large amount of material (the red stuff which is a stupid Alias reference) to open a black hole and it only takes a drop. And he doesn't even try when his planet is destroyed, his race almost wiped out, and historical events are changed. He just accepts it. There is no reason for this. It is worse than the Star Trek Generations magical space ribbon that once inside you can choose any place in history you want to go. One of the best Star Trek original series TV episodes is "City on the Edge of Forever." In it the past is changed and Kirk tells his crew on planet that each of them will have to try (and change things back) if they aren't successful. In the 2009 reboot, Uhura realizes that there is an alternate reality but no one really seems to care.
  25. Did you happen to work on the Tron Legacy pre-production too since it's the same director?
