  1. Seeing the image I got excited thinking they actually made that functional.
  2. JJ Abrams is still showing his dislike of Star Trek. If you thought having the Enterprise constructed on Earth was bad, wait to you see this trailer. The thing is, if this was a Gatchaman/Battle of the Planets trailer I would think it's awesome. In fact, I would be excited and say I can't wait to see it. But this is Star Trek and I see little from Star Trek in it.
  3. In the same sort of area. A company could make a Macross themed pilot watch too. I found some Golgo 13 watches a month or so ago. I believe they released three versions that were in the Swiss watch price range. On the phones, they could release the possible complete Macross Frontier soundtrack box and have a downloadable version to go with the phone.
  4. It would be nice to get statues/figures for some of these characters. I just noticed an old hovercycle kit on Yahoo Japan a month or so ago. The Southern Cross hovercycle gets even less love than the Mospeada bikes. I remember having a toy hovertank. I don't think it was that good.
  5. I think the first one, or at least the first one I noticed, by the same sculptor/company is still the best one. She has the more "real" style face. Cool thanks. I think I'm going to push the anime up my watch list.
  6. Hmm. Hearing this makes me even more upset at the price I paid for the Animeigo set. I never did get that Paul Champagne designed Macross case either. I wasn't a member of MacrossWorld back then.
  7. I haven't seen this anime yet but I have seen a bunch of good statues for this character. This is yet another one. Do you have pictures of the racing swimsuit version? Or the producing company name so I can search for it.
  8. I thought about getting that landmate only to find out that you had to buy all the figures to be able to assemble it.
  9. Sideshow still has the Batmobile for pre-order. They are officially the Hot Toys distributor here in the States now according to their site. Other sites still have the Batmobile for pre-order too I think.
  10. That was one of the reasons I didn't get the figure. I just want a good Deunan figure or statue. I like the new movies and the manga. I can't believe there isn't one comparable to the Vice / Alter Motoko. At least not that I've seen.
  11. Has Hot Toys ever released the production numbers on their figures and vehicles? I do find it strange with the Internet and sites announcing releases that people would miss out on pre-orders and even after release purchasing. I haven’t pre-ordered the Batmobile yet. I’ll probably do it sometime next year. But it seems to me every single Hot Toys release is easy to get at retail cost if not a bit lower before release.
  12. That scene pulled me out of the movie in the theater. First time that's ever happened in a movie and I've seen some bad movies. But in that scene, I thought what was George Lucas thinking? He said on the commentary or in an interview that the scene is supposed to be awkward. But I've seen good movies and TV shows with similar sequences that are still true and in the moment too. Probably because of a combination of good acting and dialog. One of my biggest problems with the prequels. I thought I mentioned it. I bet Samuel Jackson knew something was wrong. That's why he was out there saying he wasn't going to go out like a chump. Too bad he still did.
  13. Does anyone here want to see more "real" figures? There was a Yoko one released a while back. I still haven't seen Gurren Laggan yet. But I was tempted to get the figure knowing nothing about the character. There are tons of characters they could do in the more realistic style. I think Shunya Yamashita's Evangelion statues are considered to be the real type too.
  14. Return of the Jedi is still an awesome movie. I remember seeing it on I believe the first Saturday morning and there was a line in front of the theater. Lucas tried to ruin it with that last scene with Luke and Anakin in the Special Edition.
  15. I’m hoping the project would be a true collaboration. Not just a product with a few color/label changes. They could go all out with the interface and sounds. Engraved squadron or group symbols on the back of the phone. It could and should be really cool.
  16. I think the problem was/is George Lucas didn’t like the originals as much as fans. No one knew this until the prequels. I sure didn’t. I was excited for The Phantom Menace too and in many ways Attack of the Clones. I still have promotional magazines like all the Premiere issues. I saw Phantom Menace twice in theaters. I still really like the final Jedi fight. The whole problem was with the story and ignoring/changing stuff in the originals that fans liked. Making the Jedi chumps didn’t help either. I read about that list somewhere before. People were talking about how tons of people used to watch movies back in the day. Still, I'm surprised Avatar and Avengers aren't on that list.
  17. A lot of these figures take off in price once they sell out. Especially for originals since I've read there are some bootleg versions out there. I usually pick up whatever anime PVC statue fairly quickly. Since second editions are usually rare.
  18. You would think Shoji Kawamori would want to design one though. I believe he designed a few other items I can't remember right now. I think they were for Sony? Shirow Masamune designed a mouse a long time ago. I still have it somewhere around here. With all the cool interfaces in anime, designing something with a cell phone seems like an obvious idea. Especially for the futuristic shows. Kenji Kamiyama did a short anime for a cell phone company a while ago. I can't remember it either. But it was a detective thing. I don't trust Google at all so I'm not using Android. Right now, I use a Nokia N8 but it's not modified with an anime theme.
  19. Ah, ok I get it. But still all the Star Trek movies with the exception of the last Next Generation one were modest successes. Ticket prices were different too back in the day. Star Trek II is still one of the best movies ever. Certainly it’s one of the best revenge movies too. Star Trek 2009 references it a bit and it isn't anywhere near as classic. Besides, movie going is different now. It’s more hyped, event movies. People saying how much was spent making these movies. Saturation of the air waves and Internet. Big names attached to known properties almost always equals success. I think that Red Letter Media review goes through all the reboots and sequels going on now. You get the occasional failure like a Green Lantern, Speed Racer, Sucker Punch, or Conan. Back to Star Wars, I think that’s what George Lucas was worried about when he mentioned quitting big budget films after Episode III. He knew that there is always the possibility of failure even with tons of marketing. It’s rare but still there. Although, I don’t know why a billionaire would be worried about losing a few hundred million on a story they would want to tell. I think he was feeling the negativity around Star Wars.
  20. But what is worse, two disposable characters acting stupid (even though I’ve read explanations for their actions) or having all your main characters acting out of character. I forget the word the Red Letter Media review used but I think he said they are all extreme or something to that nature. I don’t want to get into Star Trek because I’ve forgotten about it for the most part and don’t want to remember how bad it was except for the few good parts.
  21. I didn't know about that Gundam phone. It looks cool. I want to get a well designed anime cell phone. I think once you put any sort of case on a phone it just turns into a screen with a case. I was considering the iPhone with a Graft Concepts case but I passed. I'm not that fond of the OS and using the case still hides the design. I don't use my smart phone that much anyway. Even though I'm good with computers, web stuff on a small screen is slower than on a normal computer. I don't need to check forums or use all that other stuff all the time either. Plus, the new pads are better for all that stuff if you need the Net on the go. Ideally, I would like a small anime style flip phone or smart phone.
  22. Arrow is a TV show on The CW. It's their version of Green Arrow. Since you like Batman you'll probably like Arrow too. I think it's great. I'm holding off on the Bat-pod until I see the Catwoman figure. No clue on the rubber.
  23. I don't get what you mean. I do think that the Next Generation movies sucked. Also, that the Enterprise TV show was terrible. But all the Star Trek reboot did was place a popular name and change the smart Star Trek into space fantasy Star Trek. Have you seen the Red Letter Media reviews? The first one is funny and to the point. The second one, although he likes it explains where it is compared to other Star Trek movies. I say Prometheus is more Star Trek because it has a stronger sense of adventure and discovery. The new Star Trek also made the characters dumb. Which is too much to get into here I think
  24. Not sure if this is the right section. But I wish someone would make a Macross cell phone. In Japan, I've seen a few anime cell phones. There was one for Evangelion. Also for Eden of the East. You would think that Ghost in the Shell would have one by now. Perhaps they might make one for Psycho-Pass. But I really want a Skull Squadron cell phone with multiple User Interfaces. One for classic Macross/DYRL another for Macross Frontier. I thought we might get something for the anniversary. I can't believe we haven't yet. Anyone else want something like this or am I the only one?
  25. I think I'll watch this tonight. I don't want to wait and risk Syfy not putting it on or something. They seem to hate any good sci-fi show these days even though the name of the channel is Syfy.
