  1. Maybe Yamato should just do no transformable planes and battroids for the Mac0 valkyries. I would rather have a good looking non-transformer than a not-so-good looking-lego-type "transformer". I hope Yamato gives us a sv-51 toy but I am also afraid it will be worthless.
  2. That's truly horrible. I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through. I will also put you and your family in my prayers.
  3. It all depends on your video card. To check, right click anywhere on your desktop and select properties. Hit the Settings tab, advanced button, and then the adapter tab to see what you got. Your laptop sounds new so it should have something decent. I have a p4 2.0 Toshiba with a GeForce 420 Go video card (32 MB) and 512 mb ram. Since it's my work machine, I have not played many games on it but it seems to work decently with older games. For those really worried about how it will look or run, I suggest trying out the demo or just downloading the whole game itself. I know that is wrong but not if you end up buying the game.
  4. Delays are so common these days that I don't think it has anything to do with redesigning. At this point, I do believe what you see is what you are going to get. Otherwise, Yamato wouldn't keep showing these design everywhere and on their website. In a way, I hope this thing doesn't sell well so Yamato will learn from their mistakes. However, Yamato might then think that Mac0 is not popular and not invest much in future projects like the sv-51.
  5. I was hoping my system was near the high-end but according to PCGamer, I am right in the middle (p4 2.4 and 9800 pro). I recently upgraded to 1 gig memory so that should help. I'm sure it will run good on my system but I would like to have most of the eye candy running. Far Cry looked sweet with that ATI card and Doom3 ought to look even better. I can't wait to play this game. Games like this one of the main reasons I have a pc.
  6. Awesome! Although, it doesn't look like desert camo to me. It looks more like an old, well-used machine but that works for me. 1/48 customs rule!
  7. Even though it is a prequel, I hope there is a good conclusion to the story. If they leave everything open and in question, I will be pissed - unless of course they do a sequel to the prequel like Macross 1/2.
  8. Thanks for the info, Graham. I was not playing on buying one but I thought they were going to look better than that. I can't see much detail and it looks so plain with just one color. A little metallic paint of different types here and there would of made a big difference. On the side - it looks like your boy is already eyeing your collection. I get the same thing from my newborns. When I take them into my room with everything on display, they immediately focus their eyes on all the toys. They don't do that with their own toys so it's kind of scary.
  9. Remember that Treehouse of Horror's Simpsons episode where all the advertising icons came to life and wreaked havoc on the town? The only way to stop them was to ignore them.
  10. It could suck but it looks way more promising than most films and also original. What scares me the most in films is a large cast of famous actors. I usually prefer films with people you never heard of. Thus, the filmmakers have to rely on a good story and good word of mouth instead of pretty faces.

    Custom 1/48 TV VF-1J

    Right clickers as usual, Kurt.
  12. Thanks for the pics. That's nice of Toynami to enter enemy territory and allow pics to be posted for everyone. I have been waiting for a comparison pic to get an idea of actual size. It's small but that's alright if it has a lot of diecast. It would be even more alright if there is a Beta. I will definitely be getting these bad boys even if I have to spend $80 each.
  13. I just did the same thing. Drilling the holes in the fastpacks was a bit tricky but not difficult. I made a crude template of the holes from a fastpack ready backpack using tracing paper and a pencil. To make the holes, I used a drill, exacto knife, and a square file. I took it slow and did a lot of test fittings. One thing to be careful of is to make sure you are working straight in from the side and not at the angle of the side of the fastpack. The left leg took the leg armor just fine but for some reason, the holes are smaller on the right leg. I used a round file and an exacto knife to enlarge them.
  14. It doesn't sit right with me either but I don't really care. Toynami is just a toy company so I guess they can make whatever they want. The Macross license thing is one big gray area and nothing will ever be imported in masses. I just wished Toynami made better toys and took advantage of the situation.
  15. More than likely, dude will go to his house and say "I used to have that" and "that looks very familar" and then "uhh ... where did you get that?" LOL!
  16. Actually, the super VF-1S did not sell well. HLJ and others had them at huge clearance prices and I believe that is when Bandai threw in the towel. Bandai's timing was bad so none of the reissues sold well. I'm happy that they did it because I finally got a collection of 1/55 for nostalgia.

    1/60 Gbp

I got my own gbp yesterday (thx for fast shipping kev) and do like it. However, the crotch piece doesn't even come close to staying together and it kind of pisses me off. It seems like Yamato just has to do one annoying qc flaw to each toy to avoid perfection like it's some kind of sin. Everything else fits like a charm. The legs do come out easily but only if you are trying to do a spread eagle so I don't mind that. Since I used my older Super VF-1J, I was left with an extra set of fastpacks. I decided to finally modify my VF-1A CF for fastpacks. It wasn't as easy as I thought to drill square holes into the backpack. I didn't get the alignment as good as I would like but it looks good enough. Now I need to do something about the loose joints.
  18. I just got my gbp yesterday and put if on my older VF-1J Hikaru. That valk is still the best 1/60 VF-1 in terms of quality, fit, and joints. It holds up find with the armor but the armor has a problem staying on the valk.
  19. Yeah, we hear stories all the time of parents just giving away precious collectibles of their kids. LOL - It would be funny if the brother was a member on these boards and posted about some jackass boyfriend that made off with all his toys. Seriously, cool find and awesome story but you really need to talk to the actually owner and not anyone else.
  20. LOL - you do need help.
  21. I don't mean to go into the "which toy is better" debate, but I must respond to "the 1/48's are more for display pieces and are very delicate things." It seems you do not own a 1/48 and only speak by misconseptions. The 1/48's are far from very delicate. Because they contain more parts, more joints, more detail, etc. there is more to go wrong. Previous Yamato's had far more problems so people just expect the worse no matter what Yamato produces. The 1/48's were the first to be computer designed and I have heard of only a few breakages. The most being the backpack hinge which is a problem on all vf-1 toys. Even the most rugged 1/55's had this problem. The 1/48's are more enjoyable to me than any other vf-1 toy. The transformation is easy and very smooth. They have the best articulation, detail, and accuracy to line art. True, the MPC and 1/55's are easier to transform but they are built for kids and it shows. If Bandai updated the design, added detail and more joints for the reissues, they would of sold a ton. I still enjoy my 1/55's for the nostalgia but if I had to sell my collection, the 1/48's would be the last to go. edit- message was cut short for some reason
  22. Are you talking about with fastpacks or without? If without, pegs should keep them in place for the most part but with fastpacks, there is not much to hold them up.

    Valk Stand

Hmm, since they sold well, I wonder if there is a better chance for 1/48 armor or more valkyries. As far as the stand, it's kinda cool but I doubt they will sell well. If it transformed, then...
