  1. I don't think it's money in that sense. Obviously, expanding the series would give them more money but you've spent all the time making the first half look good and now you've been ask to crank out another 12-13 episodes when you only planned for 13. That means you'll need to pay the animators more to crank out drawings (man power). They likely spent long hours making the first half look good. Now they have to do more, but with less time. And with CGI, unless you want to shell out more $$$$$ for a new cluster to help render brand new CGI, it's not going to happen in time. Since Time = Money, they didn't have the time to crank out everything without spending a lot more cash on equipment or man-power. They may have gotten double the budget, but they now had less time to work on everything. With the story pacing, all the plot points we've been screaming about that should have happen earlier in the show would have happened sooner if they were in a movie. They took those plot points that would have filled about 3 minutes of movie time and stretched it out to fill 23 minutes of TV time. So when we say, "Why didn't this happen sooner?" is because if this was a movie, it would have happened sooner. If the cut out >1/2 from each episode since Episode 13, the story would fit well in a movie format. Stretching it out, dragging out those movie plot points unfortunately isn't paying off.
  2. Not sure about a vanilla 24. VF-27, YF-29, and Oroboros' YF-30 (likely not a vanilla YF-30) can all do it. The VF-27 and YF-29 get the boost in power from having 4 engines. A YF-29 would still be able to do it if it didn't have a Fold Wave System. Alto's YF-29 was a modified version with the Fold Wave system so we should probably look at it in a vanilla flavor, without the Fold Wave system. The YF-30 with the FDR system can. Without it, the YF-30 would likely be a "No".

  4. Watch the Blu-ray vol. 1 specials. The answer is there. It's not magic.
  5. Yes. How many times did we have to see a scissor maneuver within the same episode?
  6. I think you need to do shots watching this show. Beer won't cut it.
  7. Slade is basically an evil Captain America, i.e., a super soldier. His abilities could be done easily. So it won't be hard to make him a meta.
  8. Yeah, I can see the next week being another exposition episode. I'm going to agree that this episode, while much better, was a day late and several dollars short. Let this be a lesson to make more story then cut it down. Not make short story and expand it. And concerning Keith and Heinz...
  9. Folks, keep in mind that SMS installed updates to their VB-6 that are not on the official specs. I'm sure most NUNS groups throughout the galaxy have made modifications to their own VB-6s which are not listed in the official specs.
  10. Neutral. Holy crap, they couldn't keep up the cel animation at times. Action is nice but it's basically going to be crammed in at this point. Eight episodes of almost no action and little character work, you know it's basically going to be crammed into these last few episodes. They are still accountable for that mess. And cramming it in now doesn't excuse the fact they screwed up by not expecting the show to go on this long.. Now onto the spoilers.
  11. Sadly, no. That's a story problem we can't pin on technobabble. VF engines use electricity to heat a heating element which heats the air which it uses to propel the fighter in atmosphere. Propellant is only used in space (and afterburners) since there's no air.
  12. Perhaps we should write this series as poorly planned. If they still want to do a movie, they could try to continue with a movie or do a rewrite for a movie version. I would opt for the former and break the mold. At it stands now, this could mean our ending is going to feel like it's going to drag. Yeah, that means at least a couple more episodes of boredom before we get to the end.
  13. Unless someone has a magazine scan. Maybe something happens and they don't want it spoiled.

  15. Correction, it is on the 1/72's brochure. But the manual has some other tidbits. I should probably find some better scans.
  16. Bandai 1/72 VF-31 model kit. Not the PDF brochure. The actual model kit manual. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10382560
  17. Kawamori is listed as Delta's "Chief Director". Delta's director is Kenji Yasuda. Basically, I think this frees Kawamori from being in charge of small day-to-day stuff. It's Kawamori's vision and he can step in or provide guidance every now and then, but most of the stuff is left up to the people below him.To me, I see Kawamori as the equivalent of "Executive Producer" or "Showrunner".
  18. It appears more like Epsilon has a majority stake in that subsidiary they own who in turn, owns or has a majority stake in SV Works who is a subsidiary of General Galaxy. Epsilon is suppose to be this huge corporation. The funny thing is, this happens in real life; this war of proxies. A company that could be own by, is a subsidiary, or is a majority stake or share holder through another company and they are in competition with another company who is owned by, a subsidiary of, or whatever of a larger company.
  19. "Dark" as in the "Dark Arts", i.e., magic.
  20. I need to look at the 1/72 kit manual (which looks like it is essentially the same text as the Vol. 2 liner notes) but it sounds more like Epsilon is essentially "buying" Sv-262s then selling them to Windermere. "SV Works" sounds like it's a General Galaxy-subsidiary who is majority-owned by an Epsilon subsidiary. I believe Arad made a point about that in Ep 21 regarding how they are able to break through the fold fault surrounding the planet. I guess we'll find out soon. There is a note that due to the unusual transformation design, the Drakens have poor flight range in space since there's a lot less room for fuel. Mainly column A, tiny tiny bit on column B. A VF-31 can do 29.5G. Will they ever hit those limits in practice? Probably not.
  21. And just for frame of reference, let's pick on SAC-based drawings. The Major - Already addressed that one. Ishikawa (Lasarus Ratuere) - Ok. Togusa (Chin Han) - Ummm, I always saw Togusa as a younger man. Someone who was just starting a family. He looks much older here. Saito (Yutaka Izumihara) - Too use to the clean shaved look Saito had. Borma (Tawanda Manyimo) - Meh. OK I guess. Batou (Pilou Asbæk) - WTF? Where are his fake eyes? Aramaki (Takeshi Kitano) - Missing the beard.
  22. Speaking of which, what was Keith's relationship like with dear-dead dad (being the bastard child)? He had the whole "loyal soldier"-attitude up when ever we saw the 2 in the same scene. And don't tell me it's in the bloody manga.
