There's rumblings that Paramount may file a lawsuit over this to challenge Netflix's purchase. As of posting, Paramount was ready to perform a hostile takeover by doing an all-cash deal at $30/share, versus Netflix's $27.75/share. Minus regulatory, we'll see what happens over the coming weeks/years.

It might take years. We are, likely, still climbing that peak. Things might not level off until 2027/2028. Unless we see a sudden crash in 2026, 2026 will not be a good year for computer-related buying (There are other economic factors that may decide where things trend but those are for a different venue). It comes to the question, "What is using AI trying to solve?". Basic tasks? Sure. That's happening now. But as we get to more complicated stuff, we then get to AGI (Artificial General Intelligence), which is suppose to be able to perform more complex tasks. And we're not there yet. -

Micron Announces Exit from Crucial Consumer Business So I have questions. What happens after the AI bubble bursts? If Micron is doing this, what's stopping others from following suit? We know 90% of Nvidia's sales are datacenter-based. What's holding Nvidia back from killing Geforce? It's not like they need GeForce to sustain themselves. If Micron/Crucial killed the Ballistix line back in 2022, they must have seen the writing on the wall back then. Sidebar, I'm actually considering upgrading my stuff just to lock in the deals right now (minus the ridiculous RAM prices). Between skyrocketing RAM and SSD prices, rumors of AMD price hikes, and factories NOT increasing production, these proposed price hikes are really gonna hurt into 2026. Either the AI bubble is going to burst and bring everyone down or things will not improve for the long haul. Like not till 2027. Also, is cloud-based setups the only way us peons are going to have affordable computing? -

It was earlier this week. It wasn't on my priority list so I missed out on a Beelink Ser9 (had it saved in my cart and checked back when I got home and the price already went up and was out of stock at that price point) and a Dell Pro Micro refurb (was in my cart, went to a meeting and gone after I came back). I also was tracking a Beelink Ser8, but even those disappeared. I see some SSD "deals" that I might act on instead ("Deals" meaning that's the price they were being sold at back in August as opposed to the inflated price they are sold at today). -

Same here (though, not for Batocera). 'Also been looking at the refurbished 1L/Micro PCs Dell/HP/Lenovo as well. -

Great. But what GPU were you aiming for? -

Case is purely your aesthetic choice. You want the dual-chamber? Fish tank? Good-olde rectangle? This one is up to you. GPU and PSU kinda go hand-in-hand. With PSUs, overspec'ing is always OK. If you get up to a 5070 Ti or 9070 XT, the maximum you'll need is a 850W. Anything more is future-proofing. RTX 5080? You'll need a ~1000W. 5090? Get the maximum you can for a reasonable price. Minimum of 1000W, but get bigger. A 5090 can suck up all 600W of the 12V-2x6 plug. And be sure it is a newer model which has current protection. If the 5090 fries itself, you'll want the PSU to have protection. -
FYI, at time of this post 11,000 Japanese Yen = 70.37 United States Dollar Shipping: depending on which option you choose, $22.51-$25.59

Macross Plus Ultimate Edition Blu-ray Release Thread
azrael replied to sh9000's topic in Movies and TV Series
No and likely no. The 4K movie-only re-release has no subtitles and looks to be a JP release. The Crunchyroll Black Friday deal above has both movie and OAV. The 4k re-release is also kinda pricey for just the movie. Unless you want 4k and just the movie only, the Crunchyroll BF deal seems like the better of the 2.- 228 replies

Maingear also reporting RAM shortages and they're trying to hold pricing but they are also heading toward price increases by January. CyberPowerPC cites 500% RAM surge as MAINGEAR warns of deeper memory shortages RAM and SSD chip manufacturers are not ramping up production because they've been burned too much of late with those massive spikes in production only then to see rapid decrease in demand. If this AI boom is in a bubble, hardware makers do not want to be caught in that bubble if or when it does burst. TLDR; If you're gonna buy, buy now. -

AMD rumored to raise GPU prices just as Radeon RX 9070 XT finally reaches MSRP [RUMOR] (Videocardz.com) Again, ripple effect. -

My recommendation is if you are in the market for a new GPU, BUY NOW. If the news that Nvidia is delaying the RTX 50 Supers till Q3 2026, the likelihood is the prices on those cards will go up. GDDR7 production will likely take a hit with production shifting to normal RAM chips. The ripple effect of RAM and NAND chips seeing price and production increases means other related components will see price increases as their supply reduces. Current GPU supplies will likely dwindle as restocks take longer to fulfill. -

Looks like a reasonable 1440p gaming machine. Little pricey but given the recent price hikes on RAM and SSDs, that's probably offsetting it. The 7500X3D was just released by AMD. It basically a 7600X3D minus 100MHz. -

GabeCube? I'm somehow reminded of the Hooli Gavin Belson Signature Edition Box 3 from HBO's Silicon Valley. The specs for the Steam Machine somehow seem to allude to an Steamdeck that isn't hardware-limited. I do expect some folks to be making DIY Steam Machines using mini PCs or other AMD-based SFF PCs.- 7049 replies

Those specs would be fine, all things considered, until we get to this: 'Don't know what BIOS revision is on that board but ASRock's reputation with burning 9800X3Ds on their X870 boards is well known. https://en.gamegpu.com/iron/problemu-s-asrock-officially-confirmed-platy-x870-stably-podayut-zavyshennoe-i-vstabilnoe-soc-napryazhenie -

Q1 2026->Q3 2026. 2GB chip demand are are eating resources for 3GB chips causing shortages for 3GB chips, driving up demand for 2GB chips, increasing the cost of 2GB chips. All because of AI demand. 🙄🤦♂️ -

Rumor. But seeing RAM and NAND chip prices suddenly jump because of AI 🙄, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Nvidia decided to delay the Supers in favor of AI production. 2 or 4GB chips are probably easier to produce in the quantities people (read; AI) want right now. https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-50-super-refresh-faces-uncertainty-amid-reports-of-3gb-gddr7-memory-shortage -
Discord has it's roots in messenger apps. For us corporate folks, it's like Teams/Zoom/Google Meet for (originally) gamers. Or maybe like Slack. But folks use it for all sorts of communities. Those of us who spend all day on Teams, I don't think I want to spend even more time on yet another messaging app after my 9-to-5. Perhaps that coldness comes from the fact you are using another form of (corporate) messaging.

That's the point is it not? It's why we call it the black hole (i.e. Doom scrolling). It sucks you in and works aggressively hard to keep you there. Same topics to continue drawing you down the hole, topics to create anger so that you engage more. The more time you spend THERE the more "engagement" they get from ads, the more data they can mine about YOU, etc. Remember, YOU are the product. You generate money for the social media company by spending time there.

As another old-timer, yes I do find myself enjoying forums more than any other social media platform. I haven't used Twitter in ages. Beyond checking a few accounts, I stopped posting there. Facebook? Stopped posting ages ago. Only check for occasional posts from family but otherwise dormant. Every social media platform is in one form or another, slop. The closest I can get to a forum is Reddit and even that has slop to the point where I don't engage beyond reading and going 🤨. Every platform, save for good olde forums, has been enshittified. Bots, spam, AI slop, are all manageable, but it's that damn "For You"-algorithm. Nothing screams enshittification louder than "For You". Just because I look up one recipe video, does not mean I want to see 10 other videos on the same thing. Just because I see one video on current news, DOES NOT mean I want to watch more or heck, an opposing viewpoint. I also don't want to see ads littered all over my screen or 2 minutes worth of UNSKIPABLE ads to watch a 3 minute music video. That's the problem with this enshittification. Almost every content creator I watch has posted about "pleasing the algorithm". Flair-Rage-bait-titles? Check. Meme-Seizure-inducing-thumbnail? Check. Second seizure-inducing thumbnail for A-B testing? Check. All this just to encourage engagement. Just to get more clicks. If they don't do it, the algorithm punishes you for not "driving up engagement". You have to watch everything in incognito-mode if you don't want to be tracked.

The 9070 XT hasn't seen any significant price changes and there isn't any product updates on the horizon from AMD, so my stance on that is neutral. If your game works better on the 9070 XT vs the 5070 Ti, then get the 9070 XT. Whether it be now or later probably won't make a difference. Once that clock rolls over to November, the sales will start pouring in from Nov. 1 thru Christmas. However, if your upgrades include more RAM or a larger SSD, those 2 items are either a BUY NOW or wait till next year. A report came out last week with the CEO of AData mentioning demand for RAM and NAND flash chips was seeing sharp increases due to AI demand/data centers. -

I would look at the new monitor first. Nvidia will likely debut the RTX 50-Supers in January at CES 2026. If a good deal for a 5070 Ti comes on Black Friday deals, it may be worth it but again, you’re right on the heals of the Supers coming out.
