  1. Bandai models aren't really meant to cater to the same group that buys Yamato toys, though. Even Yamato's kit version is still just an unassembled version of their toy, still designed and geared towards toy specifications. It's really not quite the same thing as a strait up model kit. And the fact that it's smaller is actually a nod in it's favor- 1/60 is a very uncommon scale for aircraft models, while 1/72 is quite common. Scale modelers tend to be very scale conscious, so that actually matters. In otherwords, this is really meant more to compete with your Hasegawas, not your Yamatos. It seems to me that it's meant to be a successor to the old Imai kits, and I for one am excited about that.
  2. Really, if we're talking about fixed angles anyway, wouldn't it be considerably more simple and cost effective to just glue the gundam stand itself in whatever fixed angle is desired? All of the extra effort seems a little unnecessary, considering how relatively cheap these stands are in the first place.
  3. Not to bump an older thread or anything, but have we heard any new word on this whatsoever?
  4. Here's one- I know you can get a fold-booster with YF-19 fast-packs separately, but where the YF-21's fast packs ever made available individually?
  5. Absolutely amazing! Especially with these materials and this level of quality, mad respect to you! This was awesome to see!
  6. Releasing it on Christmas? Interesting. I wasn't aware Yamato made Valkyries out of coal...
  7. I hear very good things about Nippon-Yasan, who happen to have some of the recent VF-1 reissues are pretty reasonable prices. I'm thinking about getting myself a DYRL version Roy VF-1S later this month from them, in fact.
  8. It entirely depends on the materials used. Many 20 year old transformers are notorious for undergoing catastrophic material failure simply because of the plastics used, and my understanding is the toy makers have no real way to know how well a plastic will age until after the fact, I.e., when material breakdowns begin to occur. It's really just one of those things.
  9. These breakage issues sound a lot like the old gold plastic syndrome from transformers... It's a shame they have so many issues with holding together. I only just got one recently though, so even if they did produce a renewal type I think I'd stick to the one I've got, at least for as long as it stays in one piece.
  10. Late to this, but I did see! And they look amazing, exactly everything I was hoping for. I can't wait to get my hands on a set of my own, pun not intended!
  11. How is it that every photo of this thing makes it even more beautiful than before? That shouldn't even be scientifically possible.
  12. Anybody else notice that all of these shots so far, it's missing some of the conformal missiles? I hope that doesn't mean we've got really loose attachment points to worry about. EDIT: Whoops, actually it was just my eyes, it's only missing one in the one shot.
  13. Really, it's all relative. A matter of perspective, you know? These delays really aren't that bad when you compare them against things like, IDK. The age of the universe! A few years, half a decade, who's keeping track!
  14. Oh sweet Jesus, that thing is beautiful. I think I just died. I'm pretty sure my heart stopped beating at some point there.
  15. Yeah, that's pretty good I think. I've been trying to buy one of those for around that price too, haha
  16. All of the armor bundled versions are v1 toys. None of the renewals come packaged with armor sets.
  17. It's not a perfect solution, but given that these bandai stands are fairly inexpensive and are assembled from ABS in model kit fashion it should be entire possible to purchase several of them and glue/reinforce them into fixed pose stands for the heavier Valkyries. buy a few stands, cement a few of the 'launch arms' into appropriate poses for fighter, battroid and gerwalk, just swap out the arm part for your different display needs and treat them like fix pose stands. That's what I'm planning on doing personally for anything that's otherwise too heavy for one of these, anyway!
  18. I could swear I saw the prototype again in this years toyfair display. I'm sure they'll eventually release it and it'll be an underwhealming product released a few years too late for anybody to really care, in true HG robotech fashion. Snap.
  19. Honestly, I think the fact that we have people going through all of this trouble to make aftermarket replacements available at all more than outweighs whatever wait we might have for you to get it right. Take your time, I for one am nothing but grateful! Looking forward to seeing more great things on this front!
  20. Curses! The money from my last sales won't clear until next week! WHY MUST YOU DENY ME, PAYPAL!?
  21. I think that's an amazingly accurate depiction of what a lot of our respective bank accounts will look like after this month...
  22. I am so with you on that one, man. Seriously, I put off buying some of these for years because of paranoia with expensive toys turning yellow over time, finally my favorite Valkyrie ever gets a toy, and it's in colors that aren't gonna self destruct? I could throw a party.
  23. Exactly this. They can't just make whatever the hell they feel like, it's not like they can just say 'we have this mold, let's paint it whatever colors we want'. They don't actually own full merchandising rights. They only have the licence to produce whatever toys Big West/Studio Nue authorizes them too, and so far they've only been given the authorization to make the video game version colors. Whether that changes in the future remains to be seen. Seriously. If in a few months the current state of things changes, awesome- it wouldn't be the first time, but really. Everything else, speculation about Yamato having some sort of master plan to release the FB2012 colors later on after the preorder window, it's all conspiracy theories at best. If in a few months or whatever, Big West/Studio Neue changes their minds and gives them the go ahead to release flashback colors, awesome, but that's pretty much how it all boils down- and we've been told this repeatedly by Yamato at pretty much every turn and every statement they've made. I really don't understand why this seems like such a hard concept for us all to grasp...
