Gatchaman in its Battle of the Planets form was the first anime that I can remember watching. I was 8.
The very first anime that I watched in the original Japanese was DYRL when I was 16.
A friend of mine and I were having this very argument about Birla/Vrithwai being the same person just last night. He's convinced that they're the same person, while I say he they aren't.
Other than a few story and character name changes, I always thought that the dub Megazone 23 Part II dub was actually done quite well. This is coming from someone who usually cringes at dubs!
I finally joined the HDTV club this weekend. I bought a 32" Sharp Aquos. Now I have to get a longer HDMI cable so I can actually connect my XBox 360 to it without moving the 360 from its present location. I also plan on buying a second computer cable so I can also enjoy my PC on my new set.
The only thing that I'm disappointed about is the fact that I have one less set of inputs on my new TV, leaving me having to swap between my PS2 and my Wii.
I don't think that Kawamori has a preference considering that he has said on numerous occasions that the real story of Macross was somewhere between the TV series and DYRL. To me, Macross Frontier reinforces this belief, especially in the 12th episode when we see Zentraedi soldiers wearing both TV series and DYRL style uniforms.
In DYRL, I could have sworn that Hikaru, Kakizaki, and Max were all in Roy's flight, at least in the opening battle. Hell, the dialog in the beginning suggests that the battle is the first one for the three.
Ah, yes, the cobra bays as they called them. I always thought it was interesting how they used Babylon 5's own rotational speed to help launch the fighters.
