  1. Looks damn good! To be honest, I never thought that they'd be able to make a fully transformable Dangaioh and actually make it look right.
  2. Ah yes, the five stages of dealing with the ending of Macross Frontier. Denial - It can't be over, there's got to be second season, there just has to. Anger - Kawamori is a troll! How the hell could he let it end like this. Damn you for not telling us who Alto picked. You suck! Bargaining - Please, please, make a second season! I'll buy two copies of every DVD and BluRay disk. I'll even buy multiples of the CDs, toys, models. Anything for a second season. Please, please? Depression - What'll I do without Frontier? Anime just isn't worth watching anymore without Macross. Acceptance - Okay, Frontier is over. I'll just have to watch something else. At least there's the movie coming out!
  3. I actually watched MD Geist II just a few moments ago. I can't believe that CPM would actually willing put their name on it. I honestly didn't think that anything could actually be so disjointed.
  4. I think it's pretty neat looking. Although, I do admit a lot of its lines do seem quite unnecessary.
  5. Does this mean the captain would be Shirley Temple?
  6. A bit touchy there aren't we? No need to get an attitude.
  7. Where the hell would all the internal mechanisms fit with all those missile, anyway?
  8. It was probably Pony Toy Go Round, Dervish. I got quite a few of my Gundam models and the one Macross II model from there. Sadly, Yaohan, now Mitsuwa, is not what it used to be. Sure, there's a store that sells toys and models, but their prices are way too unreasonable. I remember seeing one 4800 yen MG model going for around $200.
  9. Just to give an example of the difference in image quality of the two books, I took a picture of one of the illustrations. Unfortunately, I don't have a scanner, so the images are a bit blurry, but the differences are still noticeable. The top picture is from Perfect Memory, the bottom from Love Story:
  10. Most of the early design sketches in Macross Love Story appear in Perfect Memory. There were only a few illustrations that weren't in Perfect Memory. However, the images in Macross Love Story actually have better quality than they do in Perfect Memory.
  11. The SDF-2 design wasn't scrapped for the refit version. It wound up being redesigned and reclassified as the colonization ship that we now know as the Megaroad-01.
  12. Even in the days before the internet, my Macross world was pretty big. Like quite a few people here, I got my first exposure to Macross through Robotech. For me, it was only about a year after Robotech aired that I was exposed to Macross in its original format through a bootleg of DYRL. I remember seeing the opening battle in DYRL at a convention in NYC during Thanksgiving of 1986. I recognized the mecha, but not the actual scene taking place. I don't even remember how I found out about Books Nippon's mail-order catalog. Thanks to that, however, I ordered probably about 80% of the Macross books that I own. For the next couple of years before I had internet access, I was able to keep up with Macross thanks to sci-fi conventions in NYC and a friend of mine that made frequent trips to Japan. Even today, I still get quite a bit of my Macross stuff from my friend's trips.
  13. I liked MD Geist when I first saw it. What can I say, I was young and foolish! I watched it for the first time in 20 years the other night and soon discovered the error of my younger ways!
  14. Cool! I have no idea what happened to my membership card. I just went looking where I thought I might have had an old catalog, but no luck.
  15. The This Is Animation books do have plenty of material not appearing in Perfect Memory. They are quite the worthy buy.
  16. Books Nippon is where I actually got my Gold Book from. When I bought it, it was just over $100, though.
  17. I did. I actually followed your list of parts line by line. That's a pretty impressive system, I must say!
  18. It's Macross is more than enough justification for me!
  19. Despite the lack of information, I really like the Algenix best out of the three.
  20. As another poster more or less said, I think that humanity has pretty much continued from where the Protoculture left off more than it has surpassed them.
  21. I'm so behind! I can't wait for next weekend when I should be getting 3 or 4 issues.
  22. Yowch, that's a pricey system, at least in $US. I do admit, that the exchange rates just might make it seem more expensive than it may actually be. At the current exchange rate, that system is roughly $5000. My current system cost me around $2000, or €1500. This does actually has me interested to see what the cost of your system comes to by buying from US distributors! Just finished pricing. Using US distributors, the system is about €1000 cheaper. Here I thought having 3 HDDs was a lot!
  23. I get so tired of hearing people complain about how the computers supposedly are to blame when the artwork is below standard. The computer is only a tool. The blame belongs entirely on the artists using them. Take away the computers and the poor results would still be poor.
  24. For me, there's only one bad Macross and that's Macross II. The rest are varying degrees of good. My Macross ratings in the order in which I liked them are: SDF Macross Do You Remember Love Frontier Zero Plus 7 and its OVAs/movies Flashback 2012 (only because it's so darn short!)
  25. I'm planning something a bit more extreme for rewatching the original series. I actually plan on watching the original series on the actual dates that they would supposedly take place. Unfortunately, some episodes will have to be guessed at since some episodes only have the month that it took place listed. It should prove to be interesting!
