  1. Oh, I'm totally down for this. Internal LEDs would be perfect for the Unicorn, and I love the MG scale. Lemme check the link... ¥23,000? For a 1:100 Gunpla model kit requiring assembly, paint and decal application? Frak that noise, Bandai.
  2. I checked with the Graveyard Gallery on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheGraveyardGallery They're NOT accepting preorders.
  3. Why? Those markings never appeared in the TV show, did they?
  4. I'm actually shocked by the difference between paint jobs... Roy's VF-1S looks perfect, consistently dirty and realistic. Hikaru's VF-1J looks like a goth vampire painted it up for Halloween. I wonder how consistent these weathering jobs turned out... Did all Roy's look as good as this one, or did it depend on who was doing the work? Did all Hikaru's look as bad as this one, or was it just the "luck of the draw?"
  5. No, I'm sure by "the one where Earth was destroyed and the heroes are chased around by migraine inducing CGI spaceships" he's describing Titan AE.
  6. Or, rather than watching some fan's reaction to a (poorly-written) article about Doomcock's video, you could just watch the video itself.
  7. Because English is cool... and Japanese is not. Japanese culture has reflected this sort of inferiority complex -- particularly concerning the language -- ever since the end of WWII, and whenever clear, direct communication is not required (be it advertising, public relations, politics, etc.), the misuse of English is prevalent in Japanese media. For a current example, look at how rapidly the use of "social distance" (ソーシャルディスタンス) is replacing the Japanese "3つの密" in political discourse, especially on television. Public speakers use English loan words to make themselves seem more educated or intelligent, or simply to obfuscate (as politicians are so apt to do), and commercial advertising accelerates this trend. Japanese clothing brands (particularly for children) rely heavily on text-based designs, about 10% proper English, 5% French, 85% broken English... and 0% Japanese. If you actually see a shirt with Japanese writing on it, it's being worn by a foreign resident who likely ordered it from a foreign country. This would be a fashion crime in Japan.
  8. Is it? I never got into Macross Zero... I don't like Takuya Saito's character designs, and I'm not a fan of CGI Valkyries.
  9. Excellent list, @Grey728! You should add this to your Amazon.co.jp description as well, since Amazon themselves often list pre-orders hours late... and only after third-party Amazon resellers (that should be avoided) list higher-priced pre-orders.
  10. I'd say the tolerances are precisely where they need to be. The only scary moment for me was sliding the nosecone up into the chest, because it feels like that's where the greatest potential for paint damage will occur... Definitely the best of the 21st century designs, at least. I particularly like the regal bearing of the cape: It has a very dignified look about it.
  11. The tolerances are perfect on this guy. It's a joy to transform.
  12. "Damn it, I don't care how much it cost!" I told him defiantly. "It's a toy, and toys are meant to be played with, dammit!"
  13. I may just defer to Lolicon on this one... ...particularly since this is easily the most expensive Valkyrie I've ever purchased. Dare to compare!
  14. Precisely as advertised, I'd say.
  15. Well, look what the cat dragged in... Dayum.
  16. I expect most third-party consumers buy just as many official figures... and those conscientious objectors who refuse to buy third-party products probably wouldn't be interested in 3P add-ons, anyway.
  17. Too bad Steve Whitmire turned out to be such a jerk... I'd gotten used to his Kermit. Matt Vogel just doesn't sound right for the part. I wonder if Disney considered asking Seth MacFarlane to dub Kermit's lines...?
  18. So, BBTS can't import Macross merchandise because of Harmony Gold's license, but Mospeada merchandise is allowed...? That has been my experience as well. That has been my experience as well.
  19. Well, that was a well-established anime trope by 1982... Virtually every ship in Space Battleship Yamato and Mobile Suit Gundam featured large bridge windows -- Mobile Suits frequently took advantage of that vulnerability, in fact -- so we could hardly expect Tatsunoko to do otherwise with their latest space opera... ...particularly after the influence of Star Wars on science-fiction as a whole. However, when the Starship Enterprise was deliberately redesigned for J.J. Abrams' 2009 film with a bridge window instead of a viewscreen (ignoring four decades of established Star Trek canon), the result was unjustifiably stupid. It all comes down to suspension of disbelief, I suppose.
  20. It hasn't been normal for months, and so far it just looks like you got lucky. When Japan Post starts accepting international packages from the general public again, only then will EMS be back to "normal."
  21. 38 years of merchandise reflects the exact same thing. Roy's 1S and Hikaru's 1S are the hero mech, Max's 1S is as rarely seen as its brief appearance in the film, and... that's it. No other 1S models were ever depicted onscreen, so no other 1S merchandise was produced (except for deliberately non-canon anniversary schemes and such). While years of Robotech material had suggested otherwise, perhaps Roy's TV Valkyrie was always intended to represent a one-off custom, the VF-1Special.
  22. Damn. It's a neat-looking ship, too... or would be, if it were intact. Hope your retailer helps you out with that.
  23. I once knew an Irish pastor who used to flog himself until he bled... I guess there are masochists in Argentina, too.
