  1. No question there. Joker was a massive critical and commercial hit, earning over a BILLION dollars worldwide. That's more than DC tentpoles like Wonder Woman, Justice League, or even The Batman managed, and at a fraction of their budgets.
  2. Audio sync issues aside, Comanche and English are very different languages. Having been written in English, translated into Comanche and then translated back into English for the subtitles (!), the dialogue frequently didn't make sense. Characters express non-sequiturs, react to information that wasn't expressed in Comanche, and laugh at jokes that don't make sense. It's a surprisingly poor translation. If you want to watch the Comanche dub, I'd advise using the closed-captioned script from the English version.
  3. They've had to keep up appearances; they've stayed active on the convention circuit for decades. Science-fiction fandom is the gift that keeps on giving. Kelly McGillis, on the other hand, never made a sci-fi film. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  4. Figures a prolific scratchbuilder like you'd be able to tell. I'll bet you could whittle a whole Zentradi armada out of a rotten 2x4. ๐Ÿ˜… The aluminium rods allow for a little fine adjustment, but I decided not to articulate them further. While it would make logical sense for them to be independently-targeted cannons, there's actually nothing in the anime (nor the animation model sheets) to indicate that they are... and furthermore, no existing toy with such a feature, either. And you know, sometimes unnecessary articulation can actually be an inconvenience: It's not like I'd ever want to display those rail guns pointing in different directions anyway.
  5. Picard: Season 3. Nobody under 50 in the cast, nobody under 50 in the audience. ๐Ÿ˜‘
  6. I wish I didn't know what an all-in-one Hasbro combiner looks like. ๐Ÿค• Lest we forget... ๐Ÿ˜’
  7. Of course, "a lot better than CW Menasor" is still several stages below "acceptable." ๐Ÿ˜ I'm not even sure if Legacy Menasor qualifies, given those giant snowshoes he appears to be wearing... ๐Ÿ˜’
  8. Celebrating the little victories: Cannons have been straightened out, and reinforced with 2mm metal rods. ๐Ÿ‘ Another problem finally solved, after annoying me for decades. ๐Ÿ˜… Can you tell which barrel was missing from the toy I bought, and needed to be fully scratchbuilt? ๐Ÿ˜‹
  9. Sometimes I miss spending time on your planet. Here on the rogue asteroid known as Japan, Sludge won't be released for another month. ๐Ÿ˜”
  10. You'll find Bandai's Robot Spirits "A.N.I.M.E." line to be equal in scale and articulation, and with even more accessories... and they're only about three times more expensive. ๐Ÿ˜‘ I was happy I hadn't already ordered one of those, since the Gennaro "Outhouse" set comes with a nigh-identical T-Rex... a completely different figure than the T-Rex that came with Timmy and the Explorer, mind you (despite representing the same dino from the same scene). I like a little more variety in my dino collection, which is why I was happy to find a Dreadnoughtus on sale: I don't know how the hell I'm gonna display it. ๐Ÿ˜ถ
  11. She looks a little too big to scale with New Age, Magic Square, or even MechFansToys figures. What was Dr. Wu intending her to scale with, I wonder...? ๐Ÿค”
  12. "So far...?" Are you suggesting they'll actually get around to releasing the other figures they solicited, much less produce more characters...? I'm beginning to think they've abandoned the line. ๐Ÿ˜”
  13. There's no such thing as a "Veritech" mode, even in Robotech nomenclature. ๐Ÿคจ
  14. Focusing on the little restoration tasks for the time being, mostly concerning the infamously brittle and fragile blue parts that crack if you breathe on 'em (and snap if you happen to sneeze accidentally). It takes a lot of glue, putty and sanding, putty, sanding, more putty, more sanding, and several layers of paint to finally hide all the cracks and seams. Here's a before-and-after pic: Also of interest may be what I first discovered when disassembling the shoulder joint: There were tiny cobwebs in there! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ At some point in the last four decades, the world's tiniest spider must've taken up residence inside the shoulder joint. ๐Ÿ˜ถ Similarly weird discoveries were made in the shoulder housing adjacent to it: Apparently, microscopic birds were nesting in the shoulder housing, too. ๐Ÿ˜…
  15. While in space, pilots could drive from the city directly onto the Prometheus hangar deck, as depicted more than once in the series. This suggests that artificial gravity would have accounted for whatever reorientation the city experienced due to transformation... ...although how the city survived Mars gravity (having landed in "cruiser" mode) AND later Earth gravity (having landed in "Attacker" mode) suggests that neither writers nor animators gave much thought to where the city was actually located within the ship. ๐Ÿ˜’
  16. Creepiest Figma ever. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
  17. Of course, the whole idea behind Transformers was a half-assed compromise at best, a broken concept at worst. Microchange made sense, Diaclone made sense, even Beetras sort-of made sense... but they were never going to work as a single, cohesive toyline without reconceptualizing the core ideas into something ultimately nonsensical. Nearly four decades later, we have a pretty standard set of expectations of the brand, regardless of the mythology built around it. We expect the alt. modes to have recognizable shapes with discernible purposes, be they vehicles, animals, or devices; terrestrial or non-terrestrial, we've learned to expect a cohesive alt. mode and a humanoid robot mode, and as the brand has evolved, we've come to expect increasingly greater degrees of articulation, complexity, and accuracy to source material. This new Studio Series Arcee is a perfect representation of the brand, I feel, given its scale consistency, engineering, paint app's... and of course, its frustrating little design flaws that piss us off. ๐Ÿ˜…
  18. Less, I'd say... although it's unacceptably ridiculous, regardless. ๐Ÿ™„ Is that some sort of car? Or a motorcycle? I see nothing that indicates where a driver would sit, nor any suggestion of handlebars, a steering wheel, or any control mechanism whatsoever. ๐Ÿคจ
  19. I managed to snag one for $80, but after shipping and customs (not to mention the devastatingly weak yen), it cost me a lot more than I bargained for...! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ The rain looks like a photoshopped element, I think. ๐Ÿค”
  20. Actually, applying the Gundam aesthetic makes more practical sense than Sentinel's redesign (particularly the boots)... but with a significantly larger bike design, the pilot is quickly getting lost in the mecha. Regardless, "Robotech" and "Masterpiece" don't belong in the same sentence. ๐Ÿ˜’
  21. If it's a question of cost, I'd rather be the proud owner of one Bandai DX 1:48 Valkyrie than a complete set of these Kits Concept VF-1s. ๐Ÿ˜Š
