  1. While I agree with your logic, the onscreen evidence doesn't: Macross City was a bustling metropolis, complete with highways, freeway overpasses, and numerous skyscrapers. You've got your work cut out for you, sir.
  2. I've always found BBTS to be a reliable source of product that I can't get anywhere else, so I'm prepared to pay higher prices when I don't have any alternative. Their customer service is top-notch, and problems with products I've received are always dealt with in a prompt and courteous manner. However, here in Japan, packages aren't usually charged customs duties unless they're clearly merchandise, and BBTS shipping boxes always call attention to themselves in that manner. I rarely have to pay additional fees on shipments from Chinese retailers, because their packaging isn't adorned with company logos (and often the paperwork is marked "gift" specifically to avoid such customs charges).
  3. As usual, the Cap'n makes an excellent point here... And he didn't even mention this studio-scale Falcon: So sure, Bandai could do a minor retool and call it accurate to ONE of the ESB Falcons, at least. Discussing the digital versions gets even more complicated, as there are significant differences between the 1997 Special Edition version, the 2004 DVD version, The Force Awakens version (and, lest we forget, the Attack of the Clones version!). Among other ESB changes, steering yokes were added to the cockpit consoles.
  4. No, I'm sorry... I just can't. I can't begin to process this level of detail. How is this even possible?
  5. Oh, I highly doubt Bandai would do that. In order to make an ESB Falcon anywhere near as accurate as their ANH Falcon, they'd have to start from scratch. It's not just a matter of landing gear bays or sidewall greeblies; the overall shapes and proportions are significantly different between the two studio models. Back in 1979, ILM had neither the time, the money, nor the resources and technology Bandai has when they set out to build a new Millennium Falcon model, and thus their ESB Falcon is nothing more than a scratchbuilt 1:48 fan reproduction by today's standards. It's not nearly as inaccurate as the Elstree studio set, of course -- and the casual fan isn't likely to notice any difference -- but for serious Falconophiles like myself, it's a totally different bird. Bandai could simply retool parts of their PG Falcon to make it look more like the models seen in the sequels, sure, but the result would be an awkward hybrid that wouldn't measure up to their current standards of accuracy.
  6. I think Bandai made a brilliant decision to reproduce the original five-footer, and thus avoid direct competition with the FineMolds Falcon. At 1:72 scale, the FineMolds still represents the finest reproduction of the ESB Falcon, and Bandai's now represents the finest reproduction of the ANH Falcon. The two complement each other quite well, I think.
  7. Your experience has been universal among Robotech fans for over 30 years. "Once you go Mac, you can't go back!"
  8. Actually, there are very few high-resolution scans available there, and there's no mechanism for users to upload them, either. I think this is a great idea, and could be a very valuable resource, provided we follow a few ground rules: Scans must be at least 300dpi. Anything smaller is of little use to anybody. Scans must be clearly labeled in message text, so they're easy to locate with the search function. Whenever possible, a picture of the box should be included for ease of identification. I'll start by offering what little I have to share: ARII 1:100 VF-1J Valkyrie Fighter (original release) ARII 1:100 Regult Tactical Scout Type (original release) Hasegawa 1:4000 SDF-1 Macross w/Prometheus and Daedalus If we follow this format, I see great potential here.
  9. Awesome project. Need reference images?

    Hi-Metal R

Close. They're designed for 1:150 N-gauge train sets.
  11. It's an improvement over Robotech Art 1, to be sure. There are a lot more screen captures, and considerably more animation model sheets reproduced as well. Anyone who doesn't have the Macross "Roman Albums" should consider picking this up. The interview with Noboru Ishiguro is a surprise, seeing as he passed away back in 2012...
  12. If this thread's any indication, it's our generation that's full of pricks. Or the Star Trek: Discovery route, yeah. You may also have noticed that all the Destroid pilots are completely bald (save the one on the right)... The artwork clearly wasn't ready for publishing.
  13. Apparently, Minmei's dialogue will be corrected for the reprint:
  14. I'd prefer the conversation continues here, with specific information about this product and how to acquire it.
  15. Sure, I've got a 1:72 Bandai TIE clear canopy you're welcome to, David.
  16. Look at all my Blueberries! As always, eternal gratitude to the Cap'n for offering another run of these very special Invid kits! Anybody late to the party who still wants one, just PM me. My extras are available at cost, while supplies last.
  17. Oh, it's definitely Kelvin, not Prime -- for all the reasons you mentioned and more -- regardless of how disingenuously they try and claim it isn't. Whenever Spock is mentioned (now that he's been explicitly referenced in dialogue) I picture Zachary Quinto. In fact, since we're not likely to see another Star Trek film anytime soon, it wouldn't surprise me if Quinto made a cameo appearance on Discovery...
  18. Certainly some interesting things discernible in that jet mode pic: The landing gear looks refreshingly accurate (and die-cast!), but what's with the open intakes? They're totally different from the intakes visible in Soldier or Diver modes. How did they achieve that? Ah, but that's the only red Iota we see in the whole series! Okay, it's probably just an animation error, but it looks awesome. Too bad it was just a dream sequence.

    Hi-Metal R

C'mon, guys... The figure looks great, but it's way too small for Hi-Metal R. Closer to 1:144th scale, actually.

    Hi-Metal R

Ah, but what scale is he? Hold him up to a Glaug or a Regult for us.

I don't think Valkyries can bend like that.
  22. Eaglemoss is producing a Battlestar: Galactica collection! About 9.5 inches per ship, by all reckoning. Pricey, but highly detailed.
