  1. Blade is up on BBTS. http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/72931 I'll say it again, this guy looks frakking fantastic, I'm really excited for this release. Nabbed mine at BBTS, I'll only use Mezco's site when I absolutely have to, like for their exclusives.
  2. To be fair, we just never learned enough about the outside world for me to make jumps about what should or shouldn't have been invented or used. It seemed the family was in a very rural area, large pockets of survivors and military could very well have been developing weapons, and living in various bunkers and underground shelters, we never learned enough. We also never learned how bad the initial invasion was, we don't know how many, and how quickly people were killed. Governments could have been crippled, along with militaries, there could have been a massive near extinction level amount of death that happened incredibly quickly, without any way to prepare or defend. The isolationist nature of the film was another thing I loved for this very reason, the family could have very well been living in un-necessary isolation, they could have been just one radio call from a group that would then inform the family that swaths of soldiers and volunteers are moving through chunks of the country murdering monsters with new tech and tactics. I personally love that aspect in certain horror films, the angle that the family or heroes could very well be harming themselves due to a lack of communication or knowledge, that help could be coming or you could totally be on your own. And due to the incredible hearing of the creatures, I would guess after their initial arrival it would be INCREDIBLY difficult to mount any kind of massive under takings without making even a minimum, fatal level of noise. With how fast, strong, and sensitive the creatures were, I just can't picture too many large scale migrations or defenses being mounted against the creatures, especially after their initial invasion. Also, most glaringly to me, we have no idea exactly how many creatures there are out there, if they can breed, etc.
  3. Everyone has a favorite slasher, and a favorite look for said slasher from a specific film. Jason from Part III is my jam, always my favorite look for Jason, also my favorite Friday the 13th film, suffice to say this mother frakker is ABSOLUTELY mine. I got giddy as soon as I saw his prototype a while back, yes there was a 1/6 version, but I don't do 1/6 and LOVE Mezco One:12, so this is undeniably the ultimate Jason figure I NEED in my collection, he looks fantastic... I am definitely in for horror film slasher icons, this guy and Michael from Halloween are an excellent start.
  4. Oh man, I didn't even see when these were announced, but I'm in love. MakeToys Skywarp and Thundercracker are officially up for PO, nabbed mine at BBTS, and they look phenomenal, everyone was hoping after Meteor/Starscream they would release these guys too, and happy days here they are. I am ALL over these, I love my Meteor to death, a bit too toon accurate for its own good sometimes, but head and shoulders above the quite awful official MP-11 seekers.
  5. Holy crap, did anyone else know the Bluefin Figuarts Ant-Man and The Wasp Ant-Man comes with an entire flying ant for it's necessary for release accessory? I had no idea, now I need this set, just went up last night on most Japanese sites for the stand alone figure, I pre-ordered at BBTS because I NEED that ant as well, it's not AnTony, but it will do.
  6. This can't be highlighted enough. I cancelled mine since I already have the monster 18" NECA jaegers, but I did fiddle with my buddy Rex's last weekend and damn, those plasma cannons were not well thought out, you look at them wrong and they fall off, very annoying for such an expensive piece.
  7. Such an odd design for them to decide on, I can't really complain though, any Bulma Figuart works for me. I just wish they gave us an older Bulma, I wanted her to go with Vegeta.
  8. Man I'm glad someone made a thread for this, I wasn't sure if anyone else had seen this damn near masterpiece of horror cinema. Damn fine work by Jim, er, John, not from The Office. I can safely say I have never had a more intense theater experience, my theater was dead quiet, every little sound had people on their toes, gasping, REALLY in the moment like they were actually there. Myself included. Not to spoil things, but it's an old horror trope where someone needs to be quiet because the bad person or thing is right there and then they accidentally bump something or make a noise, normally I would call this lazy, but in this film in particular it worked INCREDIBLY well, you are right there with the panic and tension that comes with said noise, it is more believable due to the world building and how well and serious all of it is handled. Damn fine movie, and I too am very interested in seeing what Krasinski does next, this film is getting fantastic reviews, and is being touted as a stand out horror movie among a sea of mostly meh films in the genre.
  9. This is the highlight for me, people have been waiting how long for a big budget Justice League adaptation, and what did we get? A wholly forgettable film. There wasn't one single moment that was memorable, or noteworthy. Characters, other then WW herself, were boring and uninteresting, we didn't get to know them at all before this big team up so who knew that would be an issue? The villain was boring, the CG bad, it was all just mediocre. It's crazy it took so long too, the Avengers, hell the Defenders assembled before the Justice League, and yet it just kind of came out, and exists, but isn't anything special at all.
  10. Easy pass on reading time Chewie, I'll take two of the lovely Stormtrooper variant though. Also, Ant-Man and The Wasp Figuarts Ant-Man was also announced, looks like the Civil War figure with slight retooling and it looks like brighter colors. Probably passing on this too, just announce the inevitable TWE Wasp figure so I can nab her.
  11. AC 1 and 2 had Eagle Vision, but then 3 kind of just changed Eagle Vision into an AC version of an upgraded Detective Mode. It all works, so I'm not too bothered. As for combat, it makes sense copying Arkham games, many games these days have a protagonist that is a hand to hand combat expert, and athletic, and should be capable of fighting a dozen dudes at once, so it just works. I remember the recent, and IMO underrated Mad Max game had Arkham combat as well, slower, and you fought fewer guys, and did more stabbing and killing, but it worked, and felt and looked good. It seems the Arkham games set a new standard for hand to hand hero combat, each game at this point just tries to put their own spin on it.
  12. Yeah definitely not a bad thing, Shadow of War/Mordor did it, Sleeping dogs for the combat, AC Origins and a dozen other games have borrowed "Detective Mode" from Arkham.
  13. I'd personally say I still believe the best Spidey game we ever got overall, gameplay and story, was Spider-Man 2 for PS2. Great Spidey game, even more impressive, it was a great movie tie in game, which historically, are usually completely awful.
  14. Might have to dust off my old PS4 for this, looks interesting, though to be fair, it also looks like the Batman Arkham games with a Spidey skin on it, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
  15. Already pre-ordered the day he went up on BBTS, he looks damn good IMO. He seems to have split people down the middle as far as whether they like him or not. Some are turned off by the hyper-realness of such a simple character, others think it's awesome, I think it's awesome and something I would only expect Mezco One:12 to do, like with all their figures, take a simple character design and give it that, "If this were in the real world", look. I dig it, and honestly if you're interested at all I would grab him, Mezco One:12 figures tend to disappear and then sky rocket in price, not every release, but most. The thing that would blow my mind is if they did a live action Robin Williams version, I would be on that like a fly on fresh crap.
  16. The Jaeger names for both films have been the BEST. As a part time Aussie these days, Striker Eureka for our Jaeger put a smile on my face. Aside from that, Romeo Blue, Horizon Brave, Coyote Tango, Cherno Alpha, Diablo Intercept, Tacit Ronin, Matador Fury, all badass.
  17. Play Origins, it's far more Witcher 3 with some AC in it then your standard fair AC game. Combat was revamped, stealth was revamped, it's an RPG now, all about the numbers. Far more story focused, a wider variety or missions, less follow missions, more interesting exploration areas like tombs and hidden temples, less collectibles, less focus on needing to collect what is out there, there are still view points to climb, but I never minded that in AC. As for Far Cry, as I mentioned above, 5 really tried to do away with a lot of the monotonous stuff you mentioned above, liked towers. Far Cry has always been tongue in cheek at times, in the beginning of 5 one of the NPCs even mentions he's not going to have you going around climbing towers all over the map, there are no mandatory towers, the map is revealed through actual quests, dialog, road signs, and gameplay.
  18. To be fair, Far Cry 2 was pretty meh, it wasn't very good. Outposts are definitely back, they are bigger and more elaborate then ever, plus tons of smaller farms and buildings to clear as well, I recommend it.
  19. I'm enjoying the hell out of it, but to be fair I am a massive fan/shill of the series, going back to the original PC game and the Instincts remake on the original fatty Xbox. The game is gorgeous, I'm on an Xbox One X and in 4K with HDR going this game is a jaw dropper, really beautiful. Huge, dense map with tons of stuff to do, better progression, better quest giving, coop, less samey style collectathons and missions, they even took out the monotonous towers that you had to climb to unlock the map, the map unlocks much more "naturally" now, through progression on side quests and other activities. The game is very open ended too, you do the tiny tutorial island and that's it, you're free to roam the entirety of the map, for better or worse. The game doesn't feel as much like a big digital check list like the previous games did at times, and the way you get quests now is much better then just running to the same person a dozen times over and asking "What's next?".
  20. Far Cry 5 is VERY pretty on my X, fairly stable too, I've only had a few frame rate hickups and drops, it seems really well optimized. I love me some Far Cry, I know a lot of people aren't into these huge collectathons, but I will always love them, and this one is quite varied in things to do. Plus I like the more organic flow of missions and how new missions and side objectives pop up more naturally instead of just running to the same person and doing their stuff until they have nothing left to say to you.
  21. I saw it last night and absolutely loved it, just as much as the first honestly. The new younger cast gets a bit grating at times, but it's not so bad. Performances were fine, Boyega was fine, Eastwood was fine, nothing stood out as either terrible or terrific, it was all serviceable, like the first. I LOVED the fight scenes, they weren't power rangers, they weren't super robot, they were just as heavy and weighted as the first. Designs were hit and miss, I really liked the new Kaiju designs but wasn't totally hot on every new Jaeger design, Gypsy Avenger was badass. I'll definitely be seeing it again sometime soon, I gotta see Ready Player One sometime soon too. Definite sequel bate, I'm hoping that like the first, this one will be profitable enough to continue the franchise, I'd love for a trilogy. As already mentioned by several others though, the first didn't make much in the US either, in fact if I remember right, Adam Sandler's offensively stupid deer piss moron bait movie Grown Ups 2 beat out the first film in it's opening weekend, and had a higher overall domestic return. China is, like the first film, what will make or break this movie.

    Hi-Metal R

And it comes with BOTH little tiny pilot options, well done Bandai, well done.
  23. I'm not trying to censor anyone, nor am I implying people shouldn't be free to share their opinions, this is a forum, sharing positive and negative opinions on things is why it exists. I just said I didn't understand the hate, I wanted some perspective, I got it. While I am still full hype mode for this film, I can see what many are saying and conveying, Del Toro put a lot of personal sheen on the first film. I bought the first film on DVD, Bluray, 4K Bluray, digital, I bought NECA toys in both scales, I went ape crap over this film, and most importantly, watched the behind the scenes and special features about a half a dozen times. The way Del Toro explained how he very meticulously put together each action scene, down to the flipping, tossing or movement of every little CG car and bit of debris. I get it. The way he spoke so passionately about all the old monster movies I would watch in marathon on Scifi channel, War of the Gagantuas, old school Toho Godzilla, his pretty vast knowledge of mecha anime, he clearly loved working on the first one, it was an obvious dream project. I just think this new one looks fine, zero doubts far less care went into making each scene special but it is what is it, it still looks like giant monsters fighting giant robots, so I'm there. I think a lot of the changes were due to the studio actually even making a sequel. If i remember right the first one way under performed, and was only slightly profitable due to the Chinese market going crazy over the first film. For over a year we were told a sequel won't happen, the first didn't make enough, there wasn't enough interest. So when this was green lit, I'm sure the studio wanted to make this sequel far more "digestible" for a large audience, it couldn't be a director's dream project, if it is to become a franchise, it needed to be streamlined. I can see some of what made the first more personal and less blockbustery missing from what we've seen of the trailers, but overall, it just looks like more of the same to me .
