The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread
Tking22 replied to slaginpit's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Man those MakeToys seekers are gorgeous! I'm waiting on BBTS to get Skywarp and Thundercracker in, as usual, BBTS is always last to the party. Intakes look fine to me, will look even better when I put those sweet intake fans I got from Jream in, doubly so when I get his perfectly color matched shin vents in! I'm excited to see color prototypes of the cone heads, so glad I never bothered with Takara's quite mediocre attempts, I get that they wanted to retool as little as possible but still, they just look bad.- 9275 replies

Oh yeah, zero chance, Microsoft bought Rare long ago, and long ago they apparently decided to do frakk all with them, such a waste. I was just joking, the N64 classic will just be full of Nintendo classics like the SNES and NES classic, I just REALLY loved Conker's Bad Fur Day. I'm definitely in for one, I plan on collecting each of the Nintendo Classic mini consoles, they are pretty damn fun, and yes indeed, easy to modify.

If the N64 Classic is a thing and doesn't include Conker's Bad Fur Day then I'm passing, that game caught more playtime then anything else released on the N64 for me personally, just a perfect unforgettable game.

Man that FansToys Warpath looks fantastic! I'm glad I never bothered with the BadCube version, this thing looks to be a proper minibot with a solid tank mode. Xtransbots Seaspray is looking really good too, Klaatu and Toro were quite brilliant so I am really looking forward to Seaspray, Xtransbots is on a roll with their minibots. FansToys Beachcomber and Brawl on the other hand, don't look so good, there are only silhouettes to go off of but still, that Brawn looks WAY off, and Xtransbots Beachcomber is already quite perfect IMO.- 9275 replies

Wow, that looks frakking brilliant! I can't wait to get my hands on that beast! This set still looks incredible to me, nitpickers be damned. I think I'll actually be getting two of these sets, one to open and build and one for MISB, which I NEVER do for Lego sets.

To be fair, I only remember him as Captain Marvel, not Shazam. Even then, I never read his stand alone stuff, I only knew about him when he popped up in bigger storylines. I don't even remember when his mainstream name switched to Shazam. I get why they changed it, but it comes off as super weird to me that he yells out the name of the wizard that gave him his powers to change, then he keeps the wizard's name and calls himself Shazam? Captain Marvel made more sense, as far as making sense can go with this character, Shazam is just a cheesy acronym from what I remember.
-
Lol. Long story short, he's actually a young boy named Billy Batson, he yells out "Shazam!" when he wants to turn into his big super hero alter ego. Underneath the looks and muscle, Shazam is a little boy, who likes cola and sugar.
-
Yeah it looks like he has a cheap Halloween muscle suit on underneath his costume, not really a good look. I'd imagine the actor put on plenty of muscle, the extra muscle padding looks goofy.
-
Oh my FEELS! Seriously though, still looking fantastic. I'm sure this will make Disney a bunch more money, plus Obi-Wan is just so delightful!
-
Same here, I have a CrunchyRoll account and it seems every older iteration of Ultraman is on there, but there's just so many series and I would have zero idea where to start. If this is something new, and I can get on board from the beginning, I may have to check it out.
-
Oh man this, Bond is just never something I ever thought we would see. If true? I'm am all over this, one to open and build, one for brand new in box. Bond has always been one of my all time favorite film franchises, I've owned every film in 7 formats, I may actually, physically NEED this.

Went ahead and nabbed mp MP-43 at HLJ, $263.36. Still pricey, but it's not $320 like BBTS. THIS is the Megatron I grew up with, not G1, regardless of price, I was getting this guy guaranteed. MP-36 is okay, MP-43 looks like the real Megatron :). Oddly enough, I had a hard time paying for MP-36 at retail, I still feel that thing is too expensive for what I got, but as I said, G1 Megatron was just never anything special to me, my bias for Beast Wars Megatron puts him above anything else TF related for me right now.- 17112 replies

Yeah there have always been five islands, Las Cinco Muertes, the Five Deaths. We just haven't seen the other three islands in any of the films, only in games, most recently Jurassic World Evolution.

Was it 6!? Holy crap, that is FAR worse. When I pre-ordered DX Joker from the Mezco site it was limited 2 per customer and I thought that was bad enough. You are absolutely right, several truly a-hole scalpers undoubtedly bought up 6 of these over and over, and absolutely WILL have these on Ebay for $300+ as soon as they release. This crap needs to stop, make the figures easier to get, or limit it one to customer and demand unique payment for each order, don't accept the same payment method and information for several orders, this crap is getting ridiculous.
-
Shrugs, still looks perfectly fine to me, BOUGHT.
-
Available on July 21st for VIP members, that's me! Also, limited quantities will be available at SDCC.
-
You're not alone, Mezco is catching a TON of heat for this release, and rightfully so. This thing came out of nowhere, no announcement, no word on when it would go up, and then it was up and gone. I only got one because my buddy Rex texted me at work when he noticed it, I spent 20 minutes on the site, crashing, credit card refusals, but I got my order in. Mezco REALLY needs some kind of management, or marketing shake up, they did this with the Classic Punisher and got grilled, so now they double down and do it on another highly sought after Punisher figure. The two per customer on these exclusives needs to drop to 1, how many scalpers snatched two, then contacted a friend and asked if they could ship toys to their location, then bought another two? Several times over I'd guess as well, IF they could get the orders in. This is getting pretty absurd, and I don't know how much good will Mezco has at this point, the artificial scarcity is bad enough, but now we are at beyond DX Valkyrie levels of PO nonsense. Also, they are doing some stupid crap with their social media right now. They are deleting and not allowing new posts on articles on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter regarding this figure. People flooded their social media with complaints, and then they just basically told them to "shup up". I love their figures, and I did get this Punisher, but I shouldn't feel like I won a small lottery because I was actually able to order a figure from them.
-
Two more figures caught my eye, two more figures pre-ordered. It appears Mezco's site is crashing and a lot of pissed off folks might not get at this new Punisher. I DID! Also, Kong looks pretty great, and that price is very handsome.

I mean, we all get what Takara is going for, this thing WILL look like the cartoon in both modes, but like with MP-36 and what M'Kyuun mentioned, will it be panelgeddon all over again? It gets to the point where alt modes no longer look cohesive due to all the panels IMO, just look at the front of the truck, there's no denying there is obviously a lot going on there. The back hasn't been shown off at all, but I too can't shake the feeling a lot of mass and random panels and bits will get folded onto/into the back as cleanly as possible, which might not end up looking too clean for some people, like with MP-36. Bot mode takes precedent always, but some of these alt modes are suffering, MP-36 is another example, really solid bot mode, but the alt mode is the least cohesive and most panely and messy among even the third party options in gun mode, there's just too many small panels and bits that are necessary to achieve the look and transformation. Sunstreaker was a pretty fine balance, his transformation was certainly more involved, but I don't feel his alt mode suffered, I honestly feel his alt mode was at least as impressive as his bot, but MP-36 looks like a cut up mess in gun mode, and his torso in bot is a bit of a mess of panels and bits folded up on each other, at least from certain angles.- 17112 replies

Yup, I think most of their stuff is about a head above Figuarts figures, not much, but kind of noticeable at 6" from what I've seen in most reviews. D Amazing seems to buy just about everything 1/12 or 6", I'd check some of his reviews out, he also always compares Mafex and Figuarts when both take a crack at a character. The guy also gets stuff abnormally quickly, I DHL all my stuff from HLJ now, but he seems to get figures a day or so after their Japanese release.
-
Paint looks a bit better indeed, and I like the slightly thinner Iron Spider legs, but I already have and really like my Figuarts version, and this is still a Mafex so easy pass.

I don't think adding that single extra episode to Legion helped, I think it hurt it, 10 episodes would've been fine, I definitely found this season dragging more then season 1. On another note, The Terror is getting a second season! Odd to hear at first since the first season covered the book the series was based on, but apparently the series will be approached like Twilight Zone episodes, a new story, setting, and characters every season. Works for me, if AMC can put together something as detailed, and gripping as season 1 I am absolutely on board!

Saw this and Incredibles 2 over the weekend, not bad, didn't hate it. Hybrid dinos are getting a bit ridiculous now, Indoraptor was a hybrid made from a hybrid, and there's nothing stopping a future movie from putting importance on Indoraptor DNA to create yet another unnecessary hybrid. Loved the use of practical effects more, and the overall dino variety was more interesting then I expected, Baryonyx and Carnotaurus were always two of my favorite carnivores growing up, good to see them get some movie love.
