Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.
Tking22 replied to Gakken85's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I have a pretty vast MP collection containing official and third party, even MP combiners and Omega Supreme, I never intended on adding more to that collection or adding another scale, but I did too much reading and research and made some new purchases. I accidentally went down the third party legends scale rabbit hole, now I think I need season 1 G1 Autobots in legends scale. I had no idea a lot of this engineering could be done at this scale, a lot of these are like little mini MP figures. I have more on the way from two different sites, I bought 8 or 9 Autobots and have my eyes on even more. -

I read about MS Optimus but he's going to be a bit too small for me, and I can't believe I'm being a scale guy over legends, but I am. Hot Soldiers Optimus is a bit taller, which works for me. I was torn between NewAge and Hot Soldiers for Bee, but since Hot Soldiers is the only one with a CJ out, I wanted Bee to mirror him as much as possible. Came home to my first legends haul from ChosenPrime, Sky Pillar is FANTASTIC. His waist joint is a bit weird, but other then that he's seriously just a mini MP G1 Optimus, or a mini MS-01, he even has a matrix and chamber at this scale, plus his trailer can actually hold legends carbots. I've got two more packages coming in, I had to buy a few figures here and there since stock on legends stuff, when it's good, seems to go quick. I've got BBTS and TFSource sending me some stuff too, I need the van bros, plus my Sideswipe and CJ, and I guess since it was a two pack, Hubcap as well.- 9325 replies

Wow, what are the odds? I was skimming TFW2005 for more shots of TE-01, and I came across the Hot Soldiers Sky Pillar/G1 Optimus thread, and was honestly pretty blown away by what I saw. Long story short, about three hours later, I found myself with over a half a dozen random G1 style legends figures on the way... Magic Square Sideswipe, Magic Square Trailbreaker, Magic Square Huff, Hot Soldiers Optimus, Hot Soldiers Hubcap and Cliffjumper, Hot Soldiers Bumblebee, and lastly Hot Soldiers Ironhide and Ratchet. And that was all on a whim, the figures just looked really good, and not being MP, there's no MP circle jerk to speak of, just mostly scale arguments. I was once again quite baffled at how amazing a lot of these figures look, I knew third parties had been doing legends for a while now, but I was always just another boring MP only guy so I never bothered to look into any of it. I'm still just being boring and looking at G1 stuff only, but damn, a lot of these look like mini MP figures, they look fantastic. I've been eye balling, and will probably order, MFT shiny Megatron, and Toyworld legends G1 Wheeljack, AKA Whiskey Jack, he looks insane for a legends figure, totally a mini MP.- 9325 replies

Over the last several years I've had a number of friends get interested in 3P Transformers, some asked about legends scale, which I couldn't help with, and MP, which I absolutely could. I am usually hard pressed to recommend 3P carbots, for many, they never look QUITE right, and always seem a bit off somehow, so my go to for recommendations is Dinobots. Always Dinobots, glorious Dinobots. You can't go wrong with Giga of FansToys, they both made damn fine, quality figures. And for me, they both stand as perfect examples of what 3P MP can do, they are pretty spot on for QC, imposing and huge, they hit the nostalgia hard for either fans of them in the toon or the original G1 toys, they're properly scaled, both companies put out premium finishes, and both sets of dinos have some fantastic engineering. The other big point? Compared to some 3P carbots these days, their transformations are EASY AND FUN, there's nothing really difficult on any dino from either company, you can transform them up on a whim just for fun. They're expensive, yes, but getting one in hand you pretty much immediately fall in love, they're big, well made, and fun, they usually always become center pieces for an Autobot display. On a side note, TE-01 will be here Friday.... I'm looking forward to an MS-01 review by mikeszekely. I do want to check out MS-01, but not as Optimus, I'm waiting on the inevitable white Magnus repaint, I think the thick, more blocky look will work for that just fine. Conversely, I feel TE-01 should make a Prime with chrome instead of silver paint, grey hips, add the cab stripe, yellow eyes, and call it a "toy" inspired TE-01. Then again I would also kind of be interested in an MS-01 in the "toon" colors, white legs, no cab strip, etc.- 9325 replies

Heavy breathing... He's almost ready, and hot damn does he look handsome. Honestly? That face looks fine. I'll gladly put in my request and pay $5 for shipping when the second head releases, but that final production head doesn't look bad at all. The legs are beautiful, he hides the windshield wipers, he has white legs, no truck cab stripe, this thing look gorgeous. TFW2005 is flooded with MS-01 pics as well, another fine looking Prime, but just not for me.- 9325 replies

All Things Videogame Related: EXTREME VS!!
Tking22 replied to Keith's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah I guess you're right, for further clarification, if you beat the demo and get to the cut scene you can play it again, if you time out your demo you will be locked out. January 25th. For me, RE2 will take precedent over Kingdom Hearts 3, which I will get to eventually, I'm 90 hours in to AC Odyssey and I still have a ton to do, but will gladly put that down for RE2.- 6943 replies

Resident Evil 2 Remake demo is out today, one shot and timed, which is odd. You get 30 minutes, and can only play it once. Capcom REALLY wants people to pre-order, which I did already, RE2 is still my favorite Resident Evil to this day, and the Remake looks absolutely phenomenal, absolutely what I wanted and expected from it, so they already got my money long ago. Started my download this morning before leaving for work, will fire it up and check it out when I get home later.- 6943 replies

They both definitely will, it's just a matter of time. TE-01s second run will supposedly come with a second, non transforming head, but for those that bought the first run we will be able to just contact our supplier to get one for free when it releases. These two figures weren't really available at most US sites that normally carry third party, it seems a lot of retailers figured most folks would go with MP-44 and call it a day, The Chosen Prime had both available, Toy Dojo as well. Both those sites are looking to be out of most of their original batches, you can check some non US based sites, TF-Direct is reliable. From what I've read, second runs of MS-01 might not come with his second head, that seems to be a first run bonus only, but that could change. As of now, ToyDojo has both MS and TE 01 on pre-order, slightly marked up due to being US sites. https://www.toydojo.com/- 9325 replies

That's a tough call though honestly if you can only do 1, the VF-4 pre-orders sold out, and it will probably only be available at NY after release, at a mark up. But it also seems TE-01 and MS-01 first runs are selling out, supposedly the second run will include the second head, but that's not a guarantee and nobody knows when a second run could happen. Seriously though, TE-01 is a gorgeous Prime, holy crap, he looks fantastic, and agreed, the lack of thigh swivel isn't as egregious as I thought it would be. Those proportions, those legs, it's all really beautiful IMO, and at $96 shipped, what a steal. I was a bit on the fence before we started getting more official and finished shots, but each new batch gets me more excited, which I never thought I would be for ANOTHER MP Prime.- 9325 replies

That alt mode is gorgeous, hot damn. I really don't mind the extra involved transformation to get there either, honestly, the only tricky part looks to be fitting the robot back pieces into the roof position for alt mode, getting past the smoke stacks and arms looks like it has to be done in a very specific way. That said both MS and TE came up with some very neat and intuitive transformations for the legs, we've definitely moved on from MP-10s good enough leg transformation, those both look phenomenal. I love what TE did with the legs, and the backs of the legs and most importantly the backs of the feet, look soooooo good and on point, a dumb little detail, but I like it a lot. MS definitely looks beefier next to TE, he's got bulk, Prime that's been hitting the gym. Seeing MP-10s trailer on MS and TE looks great as well, I think that trailer is still really nice looking, and with the MP-10 matrix also fitting TE, I'll just cannibalize MP-10 for the parts I want and sell him for cheap. edit: From what I'm reading, TE-01 is scheduled for release sometime tomorrow, 1/8/19. Hopefully everyone that pre-ordered will be getting shipping notices by the end of the week, would be neat if MS and TE both deliver MP Primes at almost the same time.- 9325 replies

Isn't that the voyager scale MP-10? I'd say too small, MS and TE are MP scale like MP-10. TE is compatible with the regular MP-10 trailer. Damn, I'm loving these shots of TE, that thing looks fantastic. Aside from thigh swivel, I'm not seeing any superior articulation on MS, and the white thighs are what I wanted, the grey is more a toy thing. The cab stripe as well, it was missing far more then it was on him in the original cartoon. Also it seems the battle damage parts for MS aren't original movie battle damage, it appears to be shattered glass Optimus parts, specifically the bullet holes in the cab windows.- 9325 replies

Found a solid review for TE-01 as well. That's a FAR more complex transformation then I thought, more complex then MS-01, but probably on par for Takara MP-44. Like MS-01, there's a lot of clever engineering going on, the way the wheels hide in the crotch is pretty fantastic. I already paid up, so TE-01 is the new Optimus for me.- 9325 replies

Benscollectibles has a review up for MS-01, looking pretty good. That transformation is quite intuitive, there's a lot of clever engineering going on in there, that said, the alt mode is still fairly ugly to me, but that bot does look beefy. Also, it seems TE-01 comes with an adapter to use the MP-10 trailer, and apparently his matrix chamber is compatible with the MP-10 matrix, for those that would care about those little details.- 9325 replies

I love me some Ant-Man, I'm glad he's got a bigger role here, and with his quantum realm entanglements, he's probably quite important. As many people place those two films as middle ground MCU territory, they're easily two of my all time favorite MCU films, but then again, I love Paul Rudd, and I've been reading Ant-Man since 1995.

Lol my bad, I didn't notice either until we started getting more shots of him in some cool poses, standing straight I didn't even notice. From what I read, MS comes with battle damaged parts, and on TFW2005 I saw some shots of an alternate head with red eyes for zombie Optimus. Not sure if those shots were legit or Photoshop though.- 9325 replies

Lol I was basically thinking exactly this as I typed my last comment, but it was already done and I just hit submit and didn't want to edit. You really gotta wonder in what way can a character be revealed as gay without it apparently being pandering? Agreed on it being very casual, as I said, we just happened to learn he's gay and had lost a partner in the past, it was a bit more backstory that also casually revealed he's gay, if it were a girlfriend we wouldn't be having any conversation about this at all. But apparently he can't just happen to be gay without having previously announced it, which then would've garnered complaints about being too in your face with it, or apparently pushing an agenda or something.

I mean, he just happened to be gay, that's how it works, it's not a big deal, it was never supposed to effect the plot, it was just more back story. I don't think having a character being gay is pandering, he's just gay, gay people exist, is existence pandering? Agreed on his original partner though, the show caught a lot of heat for that, introducing him and then "fridging", or killing him off immediately. Disagreed on the fail, as I said above, I think that scene was just misplaced, earlier in the montage would've been just fine.

The highlighted is actually a sticking point for me, both MP-44 and MS have a weird heel that isn't accurate, TE gets it just right. But once again, there are plenty of little things like that to like and dislike about all 3 figures available. Once again, thanks to third party, I'm sure everyone that wants to get an upgraded Optimus will find something to like. Also, looking at MS, I REALLY don't like the knees, once I saw the design, it's all my eyes go to in every shot. Standing straight we're good, but once there's any knee bend it starts to look odd.- 9325 replies

Depends on the cloth figure really, as mentioned Popeye, while not everyone's cup of tea, is quite brilliant, I bought both variants. Daredevil is nice and doesn't bunch up, Superman and Shazam as well, Flash and Reverse Flash/Zoom are really good too. I have a Space Ghost that has a bit on wonkiness on the shoulders, but I wouldn't say it's too bad, he mostly just sits at a table, like he's just in the middle of a talk show or something... -
I mean, this I can agree on, that final shot of Shiro was very on the nose, and not subtle at all. We had zero context or lead up to a new love interest for Shiro, let alone a husband. I liked the scene a lot, Shiro deserves happiness, but I feel ending on that scene was a bit of a dumb decision, I think the happy ending montage should've had that scene earlier, and it should've ended on the next generation of legendary defenders, ending on Shiro kissing his husband that we don't even have a name for was a bit jarring.

Ugh, the term "woke", and bitching about SJWs in general is more snowflaky then the supposed snowflakes being complained about. Every time I read that nonsense I feel like I'm on 4chan or Reddit, gross. Voltron is just a robot though, not a character, the paladins are actual characters, not just a weapon/mech. Not having Voltron around for chunks of time led to actual character and plot development, not just action and battles.

Wow yeah I've definitely decided, it's TE for me, this thing looks gorgeous. That back shot is definitely something, TT certainly didn't strive for toon accuracy there did they? Once again, bullshit electronics jacked the price up and messed up the backpack for poor MP-44, also, a bunch of dumb accessories hardly anyone will bother with. It looks like MP-44 is about to tip over holding all that backpack up :).- 9325 replies
