Nah. If it doesn't transform, I don't want it.

The boxes for the non-exclusives are white (see page 3 of this thread for pics). The box for this convention exclusive is black. Would still be nice if it said something about it being exclusive/limited on the package.

I don't own any Banprestos, but I can tell from the pictures posted thus far that the Toynami 1/100 is a much better looking toy overall IMHO. As it should be really, since it's both larger and more expensive. The long nosecone and intakes nearly touching the chestplate in battroid are also present in the 1/48 Yammies, so they don't bother me here either. As for the nosecone, well there's nothing that can really be done about that since the lineart relies on "Anime Magic". I still don't like the raised skull on the heatshield of the Toynami valk, but it's not bothering me as much as it did earlier.

Yes you are correct. I haven't heard this newest ADV English dub, but I HAVE watched Robotech and the voice acting in Robotech is very hard to tolerate. Although I haven't heard it, I'd assume that the new ADV dub has to be better than Robotech.
-
Robotech was not just an English dub of Macross. Some of the story was changed in order to make it integrate with the other parts of the series: Robotech Masters and New Generation. Edit: More info can be gained from this thread

The ADV releases are an English dub with no Japanese audio. I have not heard the dub, but I think the general consensus is that it is a pretty bad dub.

Nice! Did you sculpt that entirely from scratch or did you modify a DYRL 1A head? Either way, it looks really great!

What? No pics to back up that claim?

I don't like the looks of that being Ironhide. I really only have a love for G1 Transformers and because of that I am pretty ignorant of the other/newer series (RID, Energon, etc.). So, to me, that ain't Ironhide. I can understand not making him a van (not too many of those on the road these days), but he should be a SUV of some sort...or a Hummer (and not a sissy H2 or H3 either ).

I'm a wanna-be completist. By that, I mean I wish I could afford to be a completist. I take the 1/48's out of their box and display them, but that's only because 1/48's don't come sealed. If they were sealed from the factory, I'd have to buy more than one before I would open one. All of my 1/60's are still MISB except the extra VF-1A Hikaru I have. I don't have anything stickered because I'm a bit OCD and if I accidently applied even a single sticker just the slightest bit off or crooked, it'd bother me to no end...so I just don't bother.

I received mine today. It's numbered 86/1,000. I don't know if anyone mentioned it yet or if I just totally missed it, but the skull & crossbones on the heatshield is raised!!! To me, this is far worse than the "iffy" head sculpt or long neck issue. This 3-D raised skull & crossbones really looks silly and is kind of ruining my enjoyment of the valk. I'm really starting to question whether or not I want to bother collecting the others. Maybe it won't bother me as much in the morning

The upcoming Angel Birds release is supposed to be a TV VF-1A
-
I just received a Stealth VF-1J w/FAST packs and I must say it is the single most awesome valk I have ever seen. I would totally go with the Stealth VF-1J. Of course, I am partial to the VF-1. I have little desire to even purchase a VF-0 so I guess I am a bit biased.

I voted for Battroid mode because, honestly, that's what attracted me to Robotech and Transformers as a kid...the robots. If Macross had only been about characters who flew planes that did not transform, it probably would not have held my interest this long.

$48.00 US seems a bit cheap even for the 1/60. Last time I checked the 1/60 Elint and Ostrich we're still going for $60+, sometimes even $80. Granted, the "last time I checked" was nearly 8 months ago, so I guess it's totally possible the prices finally dropped
-
Thanks for the heads up. I just ordered one. I know it's about $10.00 overpriced, but I consider that a reasonable fee to pay considering I wouldn't be able to get one by traditional means. I guess some of you guys are just a lot more picky than me, which you totally have the right to be, but these look great to me. I have 3 Yamato 1/48's and while I think they are the best rendition of the VF-1 we've ever got in toy-form, I just can't afford to "catch 'em all." These Toynami 1/100's on the other hand, they afford me the opportunity to have a complete collection (provided they don't release too many of these "exclusives"). So, since I decided I would try to collect all of these, I figured I might as well splurge the extra $10 and get the VF-1S Hikaru, which is my fav valk anyway. Also, I think what makes the 1S head look "fugly", as some have put it, is that the chin appears to be a bit too long. Or maybe it's the neck that's too long. Maybe a combination of both. Either way, it's not too ugly as to be a deal-breaker for me.

I haven't been to these boards or followed Macross for a little over a year now. It's amazing how much stuff has been released since then. When was the last time in history that somebody could make that claim? Maybe in the 80's? Anyway, I can't believe nobody is complaining about the fact that that this picture shows the Angel Birds 1A, obviously a TV valk, with the DYRL 1A head Just joking. I know some people really care about these kinds of differences though. I much prefer the DYRL 1A head to the TV one anyways. Canon be damned! I'll be needing to get me one of these, in addition to so many others that have been released in my hiatus (Stealth, Low Vis 2, GBP, etc).

Actually, in many cases, the color is directly tied to the licensing. Alot of manufacturers will not give Takara/Hasbro licensing rights unless the final product comes in a color that is actually available in real life. And since I don't recall ever seeing a stock yellow viper, that pretty much confirms he won't be yellow. It's the same issue for why Tracks is going to be yellow. There are no "off-the-lot" blue corvettes (well, there is a special edition corvette that's blue, but it's not mass-produced I don't believe) -
Actually, I retract my previous statement. The reason being, neither of those pics are correct....the correct solution it to take it out of ugly-ass gerwalk mode and pose it in battroid or fighter
-
Umm...I'm right and all others are wrong...unless they agree with me...in which case they're right

The first picture is correct

I was beginning to feel left out, so I figured I'd post in this thread too I think the 0S looks pretty neat. I only display these things anyways so, for me, it doesn't matter if it has perfect-transformation. I am definitely a fan of the lower price-point.

I've seen these before. This guy does some pretty cool stuff with Lego.
